Dude .... I'm an old retired Marine.....and literally just got back from taking my old dog for a ride in my truck....cause she loves it and I love her....and she provides purpose... I 'll take care of her first... then myself.... she provides me purpose... with out her... I have no purpose... sounds trite... but its the small things in life... my small thing weighs 10 pounds.... great song... awesome video!

I've been in recovery since 2006. They say first get a plant....if you can keep that alive for a year....get a pet. If you keep the pet alive for a year....you're ready for a relationship. It works. Recovery is a long hard road and a struggle everyday but it's 100% worth it. I love that this song shows the dog's perspective. Sometimes it's hard to see the effects addiction has on others...even pets.

Congratulations on your recovery ❤️ As a mother of 2 sons and a grandson with addiction I know how hard it was for you. Be very proud of yourself! One son is doing great, the other doesn't think he has a problem even though their older brother died of overdose a couple of years ago. His son did well for about 8 months then backslid. He's been in jail for doing something stupid while under the influence, so clean for 14 months. So holding my breath on him. Drugs turns the family upside down, it doesn't just affect one person. Bless you, for taking control of your life! ❤️

@sandralybrand9425 Sometimes, it takes what it takes. Not everyone comes to terms with addiction at the same point. I have a sister whose in federal prison for 20 years for drug offenses. Though I changed and fought for myself, she never could. The most important thing that helped me get sober was acceptance. It's the key to it all for me. If I can accept that what has happened is over, I can move forward. In my addiction, I struggled to believe I deserved better. You have to love yourself to help yourself. I know its hard but try to remember that its painful for them to see the damage they've caused to their family, even if they don't show it. I will send hope and prayers for you and your family. Take it one day at a time.

This the first time I've seen, the video. I'm stilling crying. Our pets are part of our family. They always give unconditional love and support. More then people will. When we loss our beautiful dog Charily , on 2/22/2015. He was 17 years old. Our just got his drivers licenses. And went fishing and fined him and another dog someone dumped out at the lake. Our bought both dogs home . We kept Charily, both dogs were only maybe 4 months old. His girlfriend at time took the other dog. We would have kept her , but we already had one, and she was 6 years old. But Charily , had had big heart. I fight with mental illness. And Charily knew, when would just go outside to seat he would come and lay his head on my lap. I can't count how many times I have cried hugging him. Our other dog Ms.Mime, we lost her to cancer on 11/3/2009. And you know dogs grief too. Even when a one ( person) passes.we have buried in our backyard. here were me and my husband lives, and MsMime, she at the home , my was raised in. We moved there after Losing he dad in August 2008. It still hurts when we go outside and seat in the backyard. After losing him. I didn't want another dog or cat . 2 years to the date of losing Charily. I hold our cat , my baby, while he Spooky , had to go to heaven. And buried out back too. I was out state with Mom . I took back down south Texas , where she and my daddy , has been going since 1994. My daddy had servers heart issues. He passed away in his sleep down there on2/19/2014. His heart gave out. He had , 5 bypasses in1989,& 3 more in 1998. We were very blessed to have him as long as we did . His doctor's were didn't think he would made that after so many other heart issues. But me and went down to Rio Honda,TX. The Mexico border was 20 miles from there. We went put the noble home up for sale. And on very sad day me and mom , just sit and cried. The evening my son sent a picture of a dog about 10 months old. And my son said to me, here's a new baby for you and dad , can love. I was upset first. But he kept sending me pictures of her. And she was a rescue dog. And was living on the street for who knows how long, before they found her. It took them a couple of months working with her . My husband named her Jade , because the color of her eyes. She is so loving and very protective. But we can't have another dog , because she had to fight off other dogs or hide from them. She will hurt another dog or any kind of animal. She great keeping, other critter out of the backyard. And she stays beside you when outside. And she doesn't leave my grandson and granddaughter, sides when they are there. And her toys are rocks big ones and bricks and her rope . We have a hill in our backyard and she will roll them down and use her teeth and front paws to carry them around the yard. She part Doberman and Lab. And she 8 years old and still acts like a puppy. With each pet you have you love them all differently because they can't replace the one you loss. But they sure can love you just as much and be your support system in there own way. I have downloaded this song months ago. But have gone to KZbin and watched it 2 more times and cried harder . Thanks to guy's, for asking you play it. ❤️

The son is named after Chase's dad (Daniel) which always made the video so much more touching to me. Chase mentioned on the Opry about the song, he said his friend was about to end his life and as he got the gun, readying himself, his friends dog came and put his head on his lap. Literally saved his life. This video has won some awards at short story festivals - including Cannes.

My first husband got attached with a puppy that my son brought in on cold night. He through a fit , fussed and cussed about him. But then they bonded. My husband had a mental breakdown and it was rough. Then in the fall of 2006 that puppy had grown into a beautiful 90 pound house dog, and he got hit on the road, broke his back, and my husband had to put him down. He held him and told him of all the stuff he helped him through. The 2 months later my husband put his own self down. You never know what that unconditional bond can mean

Gosh, Sebs. This song touches all my feels. AA saved my life in 1987 and continues to after all this time. My second husband was in AA, too. I have two rescue dogs who help keep my mind right, when I start thinking funny. The oldest dog is 16+ and helped me through the loss of my husband. He'll soon be crossing the Rainbow Bridge to be with his "dad". The other was a Puppy Mill Mama who has taught me to slow my roll. I'm not sure who helps who the most but, each dog owns my heart in a different way. Thanks for this song and video.

The best part is when you find out it’s from the dogs perspective and they go into the last chorus and he replays the video from when he rescued him to her getting pregnant and that was the dogs version of heaven and it all starts with them two alone in his truck which is the bench seat. Then the end you find out the dog passes away and he comes back with his truck to drive him off to heaven

I didn't make it past the adoption center before I reached for the tissues. Fantastic song, fantastic video. Now, if this was 20 years ago, I'd tell you to look in the phone book, but if you are struggling with your dog's training, lots of boarding houses and trainers have puppy kindergarden classes, which is more teaching the human how to talk to the dog, rather than actually training the dog, because the dog knows, but people sometimes don't. Doesn't matter if the dog is a puppy, either.

When I got married, and after my first child was born, I accidentally stopped drinking. I can't say that I have been sober my entire Time as a father, I would like to say I fell off the wagon, but that's not true, I jumped off. To this day, I'm still for the most part sober.

Lol you say you haven’t been the best dog owner and he still loves you :) dogs love is so unconditional. Mine died about a year ago and I was heartbroken. I wasn’t the best either , I did my best, but he needed so much more than an old disabled woman lol. That dog stayed by my side everywhere I went. No one ever had to ask where he was they just had to look for me…. Dogs are amazing! Now I am a proud very great cat mother and Grandmother or M2 as I prefer it and I have to say I freaking love my cats so much but I’d kill for just one more good day with my dog who always fought through his pains and ills just for me I think until he couldn’t anymore. No matter what, unless you beat and abuse them, dogs will love you through it.

Dogs are the most loyal creatures in the world! Over the past 40+ years I have rescued 150 dog's! I'm not saying that I kept them all, what I did do was vetted them for shots, health, and fixed them. I also have trained many for safety with families! Then I would rehome them. I have had a dog in my life for close to 50 years!
