Musk is right, you don't make stuff and you dont get stuff. Just like with government that pays for everything from schools to the roads you drive on and the police that protect you. If you don't pay taxes you don't get stuff. Musk doesn't pay taxes. Yet he take tax money from people on every business he has owned. Musk made millions making stuff. But billions screwing tax payers... He is a fraud through and through

@VelkanWxlf. You don't know about the history of philosophy. And it shows. Aristotle came up with the laws of logic, which is how to understand cause and effect. Maybe you think it is, but then why some people think that printing money is a good idea? That's just applying the laws of logic to economics.

People missed the point that Elon said. He said "you can't just legislate money" to have stuff. That's a very important point and his main point. Money does not equal physical assets. Money is not perfect. Money is not the most important thing in an economy. The most important thing is the net output to population ratio. People actually working and being active and producing is the whole point of the concept of "an economy." And it is so genius Elon sees it. That's why he is truly a genius.

A money system is the evolution from a barter system. Instead of trading goods and services for goods and services, we trade a universal denomination for goods and services. That's money. Now what IS money. Money is Time + Productivity + Customers. Money is the result of having an economy. It might literally be the most important thing in an economy. Without money, we revert back to the barter system, possibly revert back to a third world country, possibly into an anarchic state. Money is a good thing.

Good point. And isn't that the common rant of a socialist person? A complete detachment of human nature and reality (our core nature demands competition and social hierarchies) and some of them seem to want stuff for free when you are clearly capable of earning it yourself. If we buy this bullshit its basically putting humanity to a stall

@@joshuagould548 Money is just a value holder: a debt note. It doesn't have value. It represents value. An economy can survive without "money" and did in the form of precious metals before paper and digital money was made. Now the only reason it has value is if people collectively believe it has value. Otherwise it is worthless.

We get people say "do I get compensated for my inconvenience," we ask what inconvenience and then the weird stories start, weird explanations. These people refuse to work so there are constantly there, constantly complaining about anything, plus also we get ripped off a lot on these jobs, tools stolen, truck windows smashed just to steal a phone charger. I used to make products by hand and had a small store. A lot of people truly do not understand what goes into a seemingly simple product, from making it to packaging it, stocking the shelves. And people just wanted me to give away the product like it magically appeared on the shelf. I mean, I already had great prices, what more do you want? 🙃 And handmade products still cost the maker money, it’s called material. And the store alone was a huge cost. Now I have a much greater appreciation for the products I buy knowing all the hard work that went into it just to transport it to a store or even your doorstep. ✌️💕

The grand scheme of money is that it’s a placeholder of value that is distributed for exchange among those allowed to use it. There is worth to it because people think it’s worth something when you see its backed by a true value. There is a physical form of energy transfer that is required for it to operate correctly. You cannot just print money. It all starts somewhere and the people who formed the system to be what it is today had plans for how long the dollar would take to inflate based on population and other inflation rates. Basically, if there was too little money to be distributed we would see wars and other bad things happen to slow the growth of the population.

Assuming that everyone just stops working with a UBI, which seems a little unlikely. I think this needs to go a bit further in that there would certainly be a number of people who don't work, driving up costs of living due to supply not coping with demand. The UBI may reach a point where it's not capable of sustaining a person out of work, forcing people into work and thus causing complex ripples in the economy. In an ideal world this reaches some equilibrium, but likely we'll just end up with a system of welfare going to the lazy instead of people who genuinely need it.
@Veronicastar77
@Veronicastar77 2 жыл бұрын
Everything you said I agreed with until you got to lazy. Most people who don't work are disabled from either physical or mental problems and or are single parents without family support who need to raise their child and can't afford daycare because then they're considered over the limit to get any help like food stamps and can't afford food because the coat of living is higher than what minimum wage supports. People who are middle class and under with children are actually better off financially if they have to pay for daycare and can get into subsidized housing.

I would say most people, or most societies, civilizations etc. Enjoy the concept of working. I know there have been reports and studies on various towns that have lost jobs from other corporations and the residents descend into drug addiction and mental health problems. Laziness is not the source of a human problem, it might be an individual problem, but certainly not on the scale of humanity. Do you think the pyramids had to be built? The Mayan Ruins? Did we have to go into space? Some people say there are entire civilizations buried beneath the Amazon and Sahara, what drove them to do that? Did a couple people grab shovels and start digging? Humans like work and always will.

UBI isn't a complete income, either. It's a basic income as insurance for losing your job but it's what's known as "existential minimum", which is the average amount of money a single average person needs every month in order to simply exist. No luxuries, no treats, nothing. You own basic furniture in the cheapest apartment possible with just enough food to survive. That's UBI.

I think if you look at the homless population today in big cities you’ll see what will happen. They live on way less than $1,000/month. I think people will simply get addicted to cheaper processed food and higher quality drugs and entertainment and 20-40% of the population will simply opt out of society.

We don't even need robots for that. We are already there and we have been there for at least 30 years. Most people especially in developed countries work as managers, analysts, designers, marketeers and so on. Modern industries do not take even 5% of our people to run and make all our stuff and that includes factory porters and cleaners. And most positions require a lot of experience and skill, quality is much more important than quantity here, so the companies tend to seek the best people they can get, then train them and then try to make sure that they will stay there for the rest of their career. We just don't have any real and essential use for the most of our people. So for everyone who does not produce anything and at best just help someone to buy or sell stuff, our economy really is like a magic horn of plenty. Today we consume so much that there is just no reasonable way for us to compensate for the debt. That is why we will eventually have to stop pretending like there is any fair trade on the whole economy level and just admit that whoever can do anything useful should just do it without expecting anything above some minimal reward. Everything else should just be guaranteed to everyone and evenly distributed by the government basically for free.

@@Kirillissimus I think that was his point. And yes, living in a socialist country sucks. My country is slowly becoming more socialist, and my desire to work harder is quite legitimately going away, because the governments tax brackets are ridiculous, and aren't invested back into the people (they're used for 'humanitarian causes' overseas). Our inflation is rising (on purpose) at an alarming rate, but our tax brackets aren't floating with the inflation. I desperately want my govt out, and a businessman in place of it who knows the economy. Not some humanitarian eco-warrior. Bottom line, out with socialism

It's not so simplistic. Along with you everyone will get the printed money. In the end the demand will surpass the supply as people who were in lower bracket of incomes will also become equal in spending and purchasing.
