Hi thanks for your comments. Of course this is a case of balancing risk. Most mines are 'Dumb weapons' so are only initiated by direct pressure or a trip wire. They're unlikely to be set off by radio or phone signals. An IED however is far more likely to be and so then you would never use a radio or phone near those. The opportunity to get away from a suspected IED should prevent the need for using one close-up. We always put in our training that you clear the type of risk with local security experts first. Understanding the threat before you're in it. Check out the full video on our channel or pinned at the bottom of this short! When I was in the Finnish army we were taught to not use any radio gear in the minefield because it could potentially trigger the explosives, since you don't know what type it is. Not on landmines, a radio may trigger other explosives with receivers for remote detonations like IEDs but almost all landmines are planted in mass and are pressure triggered as they are placed and never really remotely detonated. However, another comment mentioned that old soviet mines, which are rare for most of the world, did have some radio ignition? As a Fin I imagine soviet mines may be much more common for you!

@dftdbs10107 ай бұрын
Proper way: 1. **Halt Movement**: Immediately stop all movement upon realizing the presence of a minefield. Do so with haste but not to alert nearby enemies. 2. **Assess the Situation**: Determine the extent and boundaries of the minefield by observing any warning signs, physical markers, or suspicious areas. 3. **Mark the Perimeter**: Use readily available materials such as clothing, sticks, or rocks to mark the perimeter of the minefield, clearly indicating the danger zone to prevent accidental entry by others. 4. **Notify Command**: Use secure communication channels, such as radio or encrypted messages, to inform higher command or friendly forces of the situation, providing precise details of the location and size of the minefield. 5. **Minimize Movement**: Avoid any unnecessary movement within the vicinity of the minefield to reduce the risk of triggering mines. 6. **Plan an Exit Strategy**: Strategize the safest route to exit the area, considering known safe paths, landmarks, and terrain features. 7. **Backtrack Cautiously**: Retrace your steps or move cautiously along the marked perimeter, ensuring to maintain a safe distance from any potential hazards. 8. **Coordinate Extraction**: Continuously communicate with command or friendly forces to coordinate extraction or assistance from trained personnel specialized You will notice this is very similar but instead of shouting multiple times, your unit is told to stop with a normal voice or over radio to prevent detection and panic. It’s easy to pick people off that are trapped in a minefield. Then instead of just standing and doing nothing, your entire team should analyze the situation and look for mines around them, simultaneously marking each one with something like clothing etc. List goes on. Sounds similar but it is performed completely differently than shown in the video.

The one dude waving his arm, is actually using his hand to create a contrast in his depth perception, isn't he? Hold you hand out flat, a little bit in front of your face, and suddenly, the objects that stick out in the distance, will stick out much more.
@MintRobin7 ай бұрын
Watching the full video, it looks like it's to help visualise 1 metre, then the 2nd sweep is an additional 1 metre, so you're keeping track of where you've already looked more accurately, though if yours is true then there's multiple benefits.
@LongboatRond7 ай бұрын
You're both right. Primarily, we teach this technique as it slows down your visual sweep so you're less likely to miss something. Looking past your hand also create a depth reference point. It's the same way that you're taught to point at the person and not take your eyes off them in a 'man overboard' situation. Thanks for engaging with us. Check out the main video via the link where we talk about the radius checks.

So when I enter a mine field I turn into an NPC?
@LongboatRond10 ай бұрын
Hi, we train our clients to point where they're looking when in this type of situation. It forces then to look more slowly and reduces the chances of them missing something,ile a partially covered AP mine. Thanks for your comment. Checkout the link from the description. It'll rake you to our full film where we go into more detail. Remember to subscribe whilst you're there so you get more of our films!

When you're looking for mines, or anything else really, if you point where you're looking then you tend to focus more, and move your gaze slower, both of which help prevent you missing things.
