That's a poor mindset. Keep thinking you are enough, and you'll never take the necessary steps to improve and better yourself. Just horrible advice all over. Jordan Peterson states the exact opposite and the world collapse if we all thought that "we are enough". We are not enough, we can always be better and it is our duty and responsibility to always be and act better.

Can you dumb that down for me. I've read it several times, but I'm not quite understanding it. I'm coming from a place of overwhelming stress and anxiety right now. I'm presently seeking help, as I've been "stuck" here for the better part of three years. I'm attempting to grab onto anything that will help motivate me to get past this chapter in my life. It's been extremely difficult!

Mike I just want to share some tips I have uncovered over the years to help deal with anxiety and stress. 1. Ask yourself the question do you have what it takes to deal with the next minute, the next five minutes or the next ten. Good for when you’re dealing with a panic attack. 2. Try and be the observer of the emotions you’re feeling. Don’t fight the emotion or sensation but observe it. Watch where it is in your body. Feel it. It will lessen. 3. Look at breathing exercises to help you deal with panic/anxiety/stress. 4. When your mind is whirring with overwhelming thoughtspick a word (any word) and repeat it continuously in your mind for as long as you can until the overwhelm starts to reduce. 5. If you’re having a real time panic attack start name things out loud if you can (but okay in your head too) in your immediate vicinity until the panic starts to reduce. And tap your fingers alternately on something, knees, table, steering wheel etc. If you catch yourself starting to have a negative thought repeat the word dismiss three times and then tell the negative thought to fuck off and laugh at it. Thinking negatively is just a habit your brain has got into because of past experience and it is possible to alter that habit with work. 6. The Mel Robbins approach is to have an anchor thought and when your mind starts going down the rabbit hole to say 5,4,3,2,1 and start thinking about the anchor thought. So when she got panic about flying, her anchor thought would be something she was looking forward to doing when she reached her destination. So the if there was say turbulence during the flight and her mind started to panic she will 5,4,3,2,1 and start focusing on her anchoring thought. 7. Look up the ted talk by Dawn Huebner. 8. For severe anxiety, stress and overwhelm look into EMDR therapy or CBT Therapy. Hope some of this helps. You can get better and will. You will because you’re looking for the answers. And that is the answer. Have faith.

@@mikehiggins6362 My interpretation of that quote: When we are faced with overwhelming uncertainty, our human tendency is to blind ourselves from the truth in 2 ways: either by letting our imaginations run wild about horrific (untrue) outcomes.. or by falsely (negatively) exaggerating our past experiences to justify our fears. This is basically the opposite of courage. We all have times where we need to act ABOVE normal human tendency. Some do it more than others. Some do it daily.

You can see the close bonding between Tom and Trent deepen as the interview moved to finish. Beautifully done gentlemen! Tom, a bit of feedback on the series.. most interviews have guests who can speak beautifully about their personal experience. I suggest finding experts in mindset mastery who can add a level of practical and usable tools for your audience.

Trent Shelton is one down to earth guy. I can relate to him like very few of Tom's guests. I'm not saying the others are not extraordinary people, but most of them have very inflated egos. So many successful people fall in the trap of believing they have achieved what they have because of how much effort/work ethics/focus etc they have without mentioning how haphazard events and people shape your destiny.
