To add on to the last tip: Having a dance party. It is really fun to look at yourself in a full size mirror with your new outfit that you havent tried before, while playing music. Also doing your normal habits in that same fit is really good too. Walk around in your house with the fit if you have to and see if whenever u walk past your full sized mirror (or any mirror) that you feel super confident and feel like you've expressed what you wanted through the outfit. Like literally, if you had to do a double take because of how hot you are, you nailed it lol! It seems narcissistic but trust me it helps to build up good vybes with yourself.

Another tip that doesn’t get talked a lot about is sizing. Many brands run small or run big so the fit and your body is what matters. Sometimes I’m a medium or an Xl and sometimes I feel bad or try to gravitate to smaller sizes but they don’t fit right. So don’t worry about the size because all of them are wonky, I could fit in small but not a brandy Melville small •_• idk if this makes sense

- a big tip is to invest in basics, at the very least. you want to get the most wear out of your good quality basics that you can always dress up or down with jewelery/layers. invest in good material plain tees, tank tops, biker shorts, leggings, denim jackets, and/or leather jackets. good quality DOES NOT have to mean expensive. basics will never go out of style - Invest in good detergent and clothing softener as well. - there is NOTHING WRONG with repeating outfits or repeating clothing pieces. one item can work for so many different outfits and still be within your style. - don't be afraid to sway away from (or toward) trends. wear what defines your style and makes you feel confident.

I totally understand how u feel!!! What I did is grab my favorite shapes/colors and mix/match them with whatever “street wear” the locals are wearing. For example, when choosing an outfit pick a local color but choose an unconventional shape that’s totally ur style, and viceversa; when u choose a local shape ( the mom jeans + crop top duo - I hate mom jeans on my body but I can wear a slightly oversized crop top, instead of a tight one, for the sake of fitting in) try to incorporate it in colors u love wearing. This will make you feel more “blended in” and once u feel confident enough among the locals u can go full on with ur personal style :) sorry if this is too long haha hope it helps p.s. the comment above it’s totally right - f other peoples opinions, but I do understand the struggle is real 🥲

high quality clothing does not mean expensive. you can get high quality pieces in second hands as well. it is definitely way better than expensive high quality clothing that contributes/endanger the environment, as it is produced by newly acquired sources. thrift shopping is the best choice we all can make, by the way it is actually a good way to maximize your clothing style. you gotta be creative and handle the differences (beautiful varieties! THIS is fashion!) between pieces, it is also way better than fast fashion as it is a minimal chance of stealing your outfit, it will always look quirky in a positive way, way more unique and I personally see the fits consisting of thrift picked clothing items to be the best form of expression in your style (u know what I mean) and it looks sooo appealing. :) I liked the video though!

Trying to shine a light on sustainability rather than the shooting it down (which happens often cuz it gets confused a lot with other things). Sustainability is not just about buying expensive clothing from "sustainable brands". Even what you did, thrifting the boy shorts is sustainable, and probably cost very little, and thats great (reusing what is already in the system)! Also rewearing outfits is sustainable! It's just about getting away from repeatedly buying from fast fashion companies where the garment will only last a few wears and admitting that we (as consumers) truly have an impact in the system and consciously assessing what you're about to contribute your money to if you buy from X company new (being conscious of capitalism/spending mindset, quality, trends, etc).

For the astrology babies: try the 'follow the rainbow' tip but with planetary colours Mon: the moon > white/silver Tue: mars > red Wed: mercury > orange Thu: Jupiter > blue Fri: Venus > green Sat: Saturn > Black Sun: the sun > yellow/gold (Wearing the corresponding colour is a way of attuning to the energies of a planet/building a relationship with it/remediating a 'weaker' planet in your chart. I use colour associations derived from hellenistic astro, but use whatever system u want!) You can look up planetary hours/days/nights or chaldean order to REALLY go down the rabbit hole

Learning to sew definitely helped me get more out of my closet! I use this the most around the necklines of my tops by scrunching the fabric and adding a few stitches. I also add a few on wrap tops if im not happy where things are laying. These ones are really easy to do by hand and completely reverse able. Adding elastic bands to the back of jeans or taking in a skirt a bit is also super helpful to make something easily fit without dealing with belts. Learning how to hem pants is also a life saver if you’re short!

another thing to note is that lots of people (like me and many of my friends) don’t use social media anymore (specifically tik tok/insta) so micro trends are still around us but not as much as if we were on socials and we don’t have a way to really keep up so some things you see as “micro trends” like the zebra print pants you mentioned are actual things that people wear that aren’t involved in keeping up with those things. As an art student I am around people with super unique styles and for myself i love prints and patterns so I feel like what may be a micro trend for someone who’s trying so hard to fit the current aesthetic or follow a trend is something that people who don’t care about that have been wearing for years …. Just another perspective on that(:

Tbh the biggest issue with fast fashion is that people buy a lot and throw away a lot. As long as you’re buying things to keep for a long time and take care of it so it does least a long time than don’t be to scared of fast fashion. Just make sure you’re getting what you’ll want for a long time. And if you end up not liking it sell/donate it so it hopefully goes back into use

Hi love your videos and definitely your style! I just wanted to say my story with fashion. I'm 23 and a mom of soon to be 4. My body usually tends to stay around 120lbs but despite that my body has changed a lot since my high school days. Also growing up my mom was a terrible person (but I won't get into that cuz oof) but she loves clothing and accessories. So she forced me a lot to put on things but it made me irritated and I steered away from anything "girly" and everytime I had the one outfit I felt great in she always found something to hate. (There's more but this is just the general idea of my childhood) So as an adult and a mom I'm struggling to look and feel nice

I think you need to steer away from what your mother thinks or might think, like the voice in your head. Maybe find a person that inspires you fashion wise and imagine they are the ones styling you and don't even think about your mother. Idk, your problem is more psychological than fashion wise I feel so idk how to help. Stay strong!

I’ve never considered myself fashionable. I always desperately wanted to be fashionable, though. So I started buying a bunch of basics that I like. Good jeans, pants, tshirts, tanks, shoes, etc. my basics are mostly black and white, which I personally like. Now a lot of people have told me they think I’m fashionable. Building a wardrobe has just taken a lot of time. Unless you get a lot of thrifted clothes, things cost a lot. Give yourself time to get things you like and build overtime.

Maybe you can mix the two? My hubby is kinda in the same boat as you and right now especially cus we're moving, he wants to be comfy but his style is alt. So what tipped him off was when we went to a concert and bought a lot of merch which included sweatpants with the band logo/design on it. With those sweatpants, a band tee/hoodie, denim jacket, and doc marten boots, he kinda created his own comfy alt style. I think basically wear what you would normally in an alt outfit but switch out black skinny jeans with black slim fit joggers to make it comfy. I hope this helps!

Making a list of things you like and dislike is so helpful. Take colors, material and fit into consideration. Like I really dislike long sleeved shirts with tight, skin hugging material or velvet. Sometimes I see really cute tops with thar type of material but ik I wouldn't like wearing it bc it's uncomfortable. So definitely keep comfort in mind.

I stumbled upon your video after having a bit of a mental breakdown today over my clothes and the way I feel/look in them. I just wanted to say thank you. The part where you talked about big t-shirts etc. and that it's okay if that's your style... I don't think any other "find your style" video I've ever watched has mentioned that. It's all about the jeans and skirts and tights and dresses etc. You really made me feel a lot better.

another tip is to take a picture of all your clothing items (or get them online if you can) and then find a place to mix and match pieces together, eg. by using a wardrobe organiser template on notion. it's much easier to see everything laid out digitally vs literally putting on every piece of clothing to see what works
