I can now tell you from experience how much it hurts when someone does this to you. It's not what I originally thought being idolized by a partner would be like. The condemnation and lack of forgiveness they will show you *because you aren't living up to the perfect idea in their head they want you to be* while claiming their love for you is so deep is so confusing and painful.

I'm in the same boat girl! One day during Sunday Morning worship at church the Holy Spirit asked me "How much do you want this guy you like" and I said "more than anything in the world" and He responded with "Then give him up". Soon after that I felt called to do a 26 month (yes I said month as in over 2 years) dating fast. Over the past few months since I started this fast I have felt like I've been receiving mixed messaged from God about whether he is the one or not but the one thing I KNOW God told me to do was to give him up for now and trust His plan.

One of the things God has shown me as I stay single is that a man must pursue a woman first (Proverbs 18:22; Genesis 2:24). I see this a lot from Christian women who were "told" that a man they like is their husband, but the man's eyes were not opened by God. Sometimes, the "telling", from my experiences, was from Satan. The man had some positive qualities, but so many negatives. God showed me, too, that I wasn't ready for marriage, yet. From reading marriages ordained by God in the Bible, the man was walking with God and found his wife, and/or God brought the wife to the man, and he married her...not the other way around. As a woman, I've learned to sit back, let God send me the spouse and if any man pursues me, I should ask, "Is this the man God has sent to me? Is this man walking with God? Or, is he pursuing me from his own conscience?" If it's the latter, then that man isn't aligned with God, which mean he's not ready to lead as a husband.

I’m in love with this man Mark. I knew it when I met him. God told me that was my person when he couldn’t even see it BUT God told me to be his friend. I prayed for him to mature into the man God wants him to be and he seen me for who I was. My heart. Asked if I would be his girlfriend and I said yes. Since then I’ve seen more confirmation that’s he my husband and so had he but I still hear God telling its not time for us to be together and it hurts my feelings so much. But I know he wouldn’t tell me that for no reason. He’s telling me to be his friend and I think it’s so we can grow in God first. I know it is. I know God wants me to focus on him and my purpose. But this person is mine. I just wish I was already there sometimes but I know the journey is needed.

In my experience, He answers those prayers the same way He answers other prayers. Now you must always be willing to listen. I was asking God about my relationship and His answer was "Wait." 😶 Turns out to be the best decision as my boyfriend and I were busy with exams and couldn't focus on that problem. Looking back on it, there wasn't a problem to begin with, so it was good I waited so I could see that. 😅

Wow! I was just going through this. I matched with a man on a Christian dating site and I emailed him my information and he reached out to me. God we had a lot of things in common. We messaged each other for a week and met briefly. He messaged me that we don't match romantically and no spark. I needed to head this because I have kind of been in a bad place. I relate because I’ve been in a very similar place! I must say though, if he is to be your spiritual leader one day, you want to see signs of that now. I’m sure you’re aware of this but in case not, him belittling sin and the distance it causes between both of you and God is reason for concern. You want a man who will lead you in righteousness as it says that the husband is to sanctify his wife through the washing of the Word just as Christ sanctifies the Church. Apart from this area, does he directly draw you closer to God or further from Him? My boyfriend and I fell this same way and both of us repented but we’d mess up again and again for a while. Thankfully now we’re doing really well with our boundaries (being long distance helps 😅) but it sure takes time and if we’d rushed marriage like we initially wanted to, we wouldn’t be seeing the faults in each other we now see. This gives us a chance to accurately see one another including areas of their character that trigger us so we can determine if it’s something we can live with or not. It’s easy to brush things off at first so give it time and see how he changes in different seasons and you’ll know him better. Hope some of that was helpful! I love your heart to draw closer to God 🙏🏼 We all need that!

I think this is true for me because I met a girl on messenger (who we both have class with each other) we're both single christians. We texted for a while and got to know each other, I asked her if she'd like to meet up in person outside of class. Because we don't have much time to talk in class. She said sure, but then she said she might have school work to work on. (So that never happened). Then after that she stopped replying to my text and i'm waiting for her to reply back but it's been like two weeks since then. Is a 26 month dating fast too long? 😅 The first one I was like "yeah...maybe I am just infatuated..." But then the second one spoke directly to part of the situation I'm in so I was like "oh?" At the third one I was like "yeah that also makes sense..." AND THE 4TH ONE HIT ME BETWEEN THE EYES!! I'm currently in a 26 month dating fast so I can focus on God and my relationship with Jesus, and I started this fast soon after I really started liking this guy. But it gets hard sometimes because I keep thinking about him.

I’m heart broken. Judgmental and criticizing is what I’ve been told I am. I realized that I can’t even kiss a man, hold a man’s hand, or hug a man anymore because of this relationship. I wasn’t just infatuated when I was around him I felt close to God now I just feel close to heart break. I finally had to tell him that I needed to block him because my neediness is so bad and he’s not needy. I didn’t take the time to heal in my 6 year relationship and emotionally me and this man were moving too fast. He told me that he can never be with me ever again though and that’s what really hurts. I think he truly wanted to cut me off as a friend to. So it became this thing where both of us could not trust each other. Everyone said we look cute together to. Unfortunately because of my neediness and trouble connecting with people we both became detached and I kept telling this man multiple times that I wanted to connect with others and he tried but I guess I just need to do this on my own. 😢

I think satan tempting me to dislike the wrong person and Holy Spirit may be saying “Its not a promise.. only infatuation.” 7 years is quite a bit of time.. I truly want to believe in what I “think” is a promise.. but maybe infatuation. If I truly tell my self it’s infatuation, satan seems to leave me alone

Can kinda relate. Almost 4 years now for a woman at church that chose not to date until her daughter graduates high school. Clear interest in me but sticking to her guns. I think she's worth the wait but we'll see what happens. Prayed more about this more than most things and still kinda confused. I've chose not to date other women because of her. Maybe foolish...?
