I'm researching scanners and I had no idea all the criteria there is in trying to pick just one. So many techno-whinnies end up owning several. I don't want to be one of them. So, I got my work cut out for me to find the golden unit. This scanner in the video seems to be one of my finalists. If you have found a better one, in this price range please let me know.

Thanks for checking out Fresh Vintage! I'm on TopDon's site now and in comparing these I would say go with the 900lite if you want a much larger battery (think run time between charges) with 8 service functions and 60+ vehicles covered. Go with the 900bt if you are okay with a somewhat smaller battery in the scan tool, but much more diverse capability (think if you run a shop and see all kinds of different cars) as the 900bt has 28 service functions and 130+ vehicles covered (plus the 900bt does ECU coding whereas as the 900lite only reads ECU info). I won't cover much on the pro as after checking it out now you'd do well to buy the 900lite in it's place. Hope this all helps!

Do you have to pay every year in order for this OBD reader to work ? If you dont pay does that still work ? Do you need to have internet to used it ? If you don't updates does that still work without updates ? Out from the box can you used it without wifi or internet ? Can this scan for Fuel Pressure ? And can this scan for compression test ? Is this a Complete diagnostic Scan tools ?does it Scan from 1996 cars going up ? How about Toyota Camry 2001 2.2 Liter 4 Cyl or Buick Park Ave 2003 3.8 Liter does it Scan these cars ? Does this scan for battery ignition parameters ? Does it Scan for a bad head gaskets ? Is this the latest version 2024 ? Is this the same as the Topdon Artidiag500S ?

Can this clear a locked radio on a 1999 Cadillac DeVille? It needs to have the vin number of the car assigned to it to remove theft lock. I normally use a tech 2 but mine is out of service and looking to buy something new.

There's a few key differences on the pro model: It has a smaller battery (for some reason) I believe it plugs in with a cable instead of a Bluetooth wireless dongle. It does have more service functions, and 31 special functions within the scan tool that the 900 Lite does not have. This says the pro model does not auto VIN, although I would question that to be honest. The pro also comes with Chrysler 12+8 adapter, no extra charge needed). Hope this helps let us know which one you end up buying! 😊

Unfortunately buying a scan tool that doesn't require a subscription is a challenge; OEM's such as Ford, Chevy and all the rest of them charge the scan tool manufacturers for access to their OEM/proprietary software, and the only way to recoup that money is for the scan tool company(ies) to charge for yearly subscriptions. If they did not do this most scandal companies would go out of business.
