@@CLDJ227 CJ, that verse is directed to the saved. The Apostle John wrote all 3 of his letters, First John through Third John, to fellow believers in Jesus. The things John wrote make no sense to the lost. The Apostle Paul wrote the Epistle to the Romans for the lost, especially since the Roman Road is the Gospel within the epistle. It has taken me a long time to learn that when we study the Scriptures, the one major rule to keep in mind is "context". I have been a believer in Jesus for over 40 years, and it's within the past 10 years that I have learned about context. So I was taught wrong. It does make a big difference in understanding, and it just makes more sense! I hope you don't feel attacked. My intention is to help you to get more out of the Word. His Word is a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path. Most of all, as you read and study, it really helps to ask the Spirit for understanding. He most certainly will! 😊👍

I saddens me when I hear Christians take OT scripture, scriptures which are to the Jews in some other time and season that ours and apply those scriptures to themselves and us. I'm finally coming back to Christ after 37 years. I accepted Christ at 17 but didn't take it seriously. Spent many years sinning but always kept Christ in the back of my mind. A lot of decisions that we make are out of the spirit first the way we spend our money the way we pick our spouses the way we communicate with our loved ones family and friends it's all spiritual I think when you have a good solid connection with the Lord and you're in a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ you will begin to see your life change spiritually and things will become better you'll make better decisions you will make better financial decisions but a relational decisions and I see that's how God helps us

To be honest, I came to christianity because of the privileges and benefits of christianity (mainly heaven). However, the more time I spent getting to know God, my faith grew more genuine. I don't know if you'd consider it to be a nervous condition (I do) or an addiction, but I used to bite my fingernails until they bled since childhood and God cured me of it. In fact, God did this two weeks before I officially got saved because when I got saved, I had a healthy set of grown fingernails that needed to be trimmed for the first time in my life at that time in my life.

If you have for any reason incorporated anything from the old testament into The Gospel that Christ left us you are in error. @Austin Hartford The things highlighted in this video are in no way "works" as you are describing it. They described behaviours and thoughts that does not reflect a heart full of Christ. I do agree with you that Salvation is not earned by works only but the points discussed in this video doesn't fall into the category of "works" you are describing. The door is norrow because following Christ is hard and is a constant battle with our flesh, our thoughts (Galatians 2:20-21, Galatians 5:24-25). Following Christ is more than just accept Christ and do all that you well described. After accepting Jesus Christ as our Saviour, we should follow his Commandments and all behaviours that reflects His character and his teachings. This video is not leading people to hell, instead is exposing behaviours and feelings that may corrupt your heart and leave a way for the more evil things to settle in you. God Bless you.

You're not alone. Part of me didn't even want to watch this video for fear of being pulled into doubt and despair. But I've found that God is so kind, if you just continually come to him with everything, go to him for help, seek him, trust him...he provides. He makes a way where there is no way. He is our mighty and merciful God. It's hard but reading the word helps so much. A few days ago these verses really spoke to me: "Remember these things, O Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you; you are my servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by me. I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud and your sins like mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you. It's not solid biblical teaching. This type of Christianity is called "Jesus plus something else." In this teaching, faith in Jesus is not enough. Our salvation does not depend on what Jesus did, but it also includes our behavior and understanding. Basically he's saying that if someone doesn't behave or understand correctly, they may not be saved. This is not the Gospel (good news), it's actually very bad new. "Then they asked him, 'What must we do to do the works God requires?' Jesus answered, 'The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.'” John 6:28-29. Too many Christians get caught up in New Testament legalism. We live by faith, no longer by the law. Christians have been picking and choosing for 2000 years. Every denomination picks and chooses. It's a very human thing to do. It doesn't mean it's correct, or that we don't sometimes pick and choose incorrectly. Of course we do. That's why Jesus had to die. God knew we couldn't ever, ever, get it right.

We "do" what he told us increasingly more as we are sanctified by the Spirit, but this is a process that can take years, decades, even a lifetime.

If you say no, then you are being honest with yourself that no one can commit to anyone full time, which many have found out already. Also, is God always with you? Michelle! I pray you are delivered from the chains of that sin. I too struggle with many sins that I admit I love. In my case, fasting really works -- water, juice, and broth. Especially when I make the juice or broth myself, I spend that time speaking with the Lord and spend as much time in His Word as I can during the fast. I promise, no exaggeration and without a doubt, sinful urges that dominated my mind ever hour of every day have melted away to the point that it takes much effort on my part to desire the sin again. In my hunger, I remember that it's only a small discomfort compared to the burden and pain the Lord endured for me. I hope this helps in some way. Take care, sis!

Honest question... do you believe that if you can’t overcome this sin you won’t enter heaven? My friend, Christ died for ALL your sins. And said if you believe in Him for the promise of everlasting life you’re forever secure. Seek to obey and overcome sin out of the fact that your saved and eternally secure. Whether or not you are able to overcome this sin has zero bearing on your eternal destiny. Salvation is a free gift apart from works accessed through faith in Christ alone.

@@swansonseven2851 I hope that he isn't saying that this is how to be saved because if so, then that would mean we have to work for our salvation. Hopefully, he is saying that after we are saved that we should live a holy life. This is done by walking in the spirit that we might not obey the desires of the flesh. As a Christian, we are to live a life before men so that they may see Christ in us. When we sin, God chastise us but if we sin and there is no chastisement, then chances are, we are not saved.

That doesn’t make sense. The Bible actually teaches the just shall live by faith. So after we are saved we still walk by faith in the spirit and HE produces the fruit. There is no burden. His yoke is easy. It’s done at the cross. Progressive sanctification is man made religion. It’s about Christ, not us. 1. First, I want to say that I heartily support the main argument of this video. It is very important and timely. I just have a couple of criticisms for my brother on how it was communicated. 2. I'm not sure that the click-baity "this one thing," "wait till the end of the video while I list some things" tactics which come out of on-line advertising are a good thing to see being utilized concerning Biblical teaching. This is more a cultural/stylistic criticism than anything really substantive. 3. I do think, however, that it's a bad idea to make, as you seemed to state at one point, "what has been held near and dear for almost 2000 years," a standard of proper belief or practice. People have been practicing infant baptism for longer than Protestants have (correctly) rejected it as un-biblical. There are things that crept in during the time of the Apostles that are still being taught or practiced today that are un-biblical. Tradition and ancient practice should not be the guide. 4. It is helpful to ask, "Is homosexual *activity* sin" rather than just, "Is homosexuality sin." Activity is sin. Temptations and tendencies are not sins. Having homosexual impulses (what the world calls "being Homosexual") does not equal committing sin. Actually giving into and/or accepting these impulses is the sin. It may seem like splitting hairs, but it is important for people with such impulses to realize that we are not condemning them for the feelings they are having so we can help them overcome the actual sinful lifestyle and behaviors. I believe some people come to adulthood with certain tendencies toward specific sins. (Gluttony is more of a temptation for me than for some, so I have to be extra careful concerning food, for example) If we condemn them for these temptations rather than condemning sinful behavior itself, we are hurting them instead of helping them. I trust you already know this point and agree with it. It is important to put it into practice in how we speak, however.
