His email reeks of entitlement. I wouldn't discount. He was happy to purchase them at the price they were, so that's the deal. Oh and report him for feedback extortion.

Kevin may be a nice guy. However, getting tired of entitled buyers who think my ebay store is a charity case who whine and bitch that my prices are high. Lots of buyer think they are "special" and deserve a deal.

I think you will open up a “can of worms”! Giving a post purchase discount will set a precedent. Don’t do it! You sold the item in good faith.

The person who got the soup bowl made a mistake not taking the toys he bought. He would have had the toys at a discount. I always look forward to seeing beautiful Vicky on these videos. She is always so energetic and she knows her stuff. You too Pete, these videos are fun to watch.

I would offer him a discount on the 4th pair if he would like them but NOT on the shoes he just purchased. I would NOT allow him to hold your feedback hostage.

It is an after sale request. If I bought something at full price, am I annoyed when it goes into sale? no! Casino-Lady is correct, do not allow him hold you to randsome on feedback. Good luck and I am happy to give you good feedback anytime so is my family we all buy from you.

That's not how you as a seller handle it. Always be the bigger person if you want customers . He pays your salary. That ego stuff won't bring you anywhere

@@droo3010 that’s exactly how you handle it. Otherwise he’ll be back doing the same thing. It’s worked for me since 1996 on EBay. I’m the first to take care of customers, but extorting feedback is my line in the sand. So the customer says if Pete doesn’t give him a partial refund he won’t give him positive feedback? That’s not ok.

@@droo3010 prices change on eBay everyday from the same sellers for the same item. Sellers lower their price, run sales, etc. we evaluate our pricing every 90 days and do just that. You can’t expect as a customer if the price changes you can then contact the seller and get a refund, I’m guessing the buyer is not going to offer further payment if the price goes up. I totally agree if the seller would have contacted before he purchased I absolutely would have given him a price break.

I have had situations similar to what you are going through. With the "shoes" guy, If you would like to refund him something because he purchased from your shop, I would honor his request this one time, but let him know that his last sentence is called "Feedback Extortion" and that you did not honor his request because of that reason as eBay would remove any bad feedback as a result of his last sentence because they can see that in his email (proof). Just tell him you are honoring his request this one time because he purchased two items from you and that you appreciate his business, but that you would never do that due to a threat. With the one with the bad address, I have had that happen. I would contact the person and tell them that you will have to cancel the order and refund his money for "wrong address" and once they get the address changed on their end, to contact you and you will re-list and re-sell the item to him at that time.

Don't know how to point this out, but you would have done exactly that, honoring a threat, in this case. For me a discount would be totally off the table at this point, he would be reported, and also added to my no bid/no buy list.

As an Ebay seller since 2000, I would try to work with the customer. The problem is the last part Vicky mentioned about he would like to leave you positive feedback. I would say that is an implied threat. If you did get negative from the buyer and you have that proof of threat, I think Ebay would not only remove the negative, but possibly even suspend the buyer who made the threat. On the other hand, if you have a standard return policy, what stops him from just returning the shoes and possibly getting a full refund? I would probably compromise and offer him half of the shipping costs which should be $20 since there is no price guarantee on Ebay. You have done nothing wrong.

Yeah.... feedback threats is an automatic deal killer. My response would be: "I'm sorry your not happy with your purchase decision. Feel free to open a return request."....

You said it yourself. The buyer you gave a discount to contacted you before the sale. If this guy was buying a 3rd item, that is when he should ask for a discount. Not retroactively on an old purchase. Also, if he was a customer who bought 2 completely different items from you, there's a higher probability that he would buy something else from you again. However, this guy bought 2 identical items. It's unlikely he'd have any reason to purchase something specifically from you again.

For someone to ask for money back after the deal is done, and especially to include a comment regarding continued positive feedback if you do as he asks, is unfair on his part. The person that you gave the discount to asked prior to the sale, and you had a chance to consider his request before the sale was made. With this guy, you're basically being asked to comply with his request, or risk receiving a less than complimentary review if you refuse. If you do this for him, you risk having all sorts of people trying to hit you up after purchases have been made coming at you like vultures. Besides, what this guy is asking for is actually twice the amount of what the discount that the other guy got. (Just because you gave someone a discount on one item doesn't mean you'd do it on two items.) Pretty nervy ... so I'd say "No Dice!" Love your channel!!

I agree with Bill Ramsey. Offer a discount on/or free shipping for the next item(s) the customer purchases. This offer lets the customer know you took his concern seriously and to get that benefit the customer has to be a repeat buyer. The shoes are a done deal, so I don't think he can expect any type of refund etc on those. I really didn't feel the line about feedback was meant maliciously. Maybe when buying the second pair he thought if there was a best offer option he might make an lower offer because he was buying 2 pairs in 2 days, then saw someone else was given that option. The way you explained it in this video made total sense, so emailing him that info turn this into a positive customer relation. Hey, he liked pretty much everything about the transaction except that one thing. Just came across your videos while chilling this Sat. morning and I'm lovin' it!

I would call eBay and report him for attempted feedback extortion. eBay will shut that down quickly and block him from interacting with you. I don’t tolerate that sort of behavior, problem customers will just be further problems down the road.

I was a pawnbroker for 8+ years. Even if you had no offer option, you can still contact the seller. The only way I would give a discount (i.e. free shipping on one pair) is if their account is legitimately new. If not, they should know better. We all know some customers are just difficult. Sometimes you give one chance but if they come back and do the same thing then you can shut them down. I recently found your channel and I enjoy it. I was forced out of my job by bad management, I wish I was still a pawnbroker. Every day was different and the things that happen in the shop are unlike any other job. Lots of laughs and strange happenings. You all seem like a great team. Look forward to watching a lot more videos.

I love to engage the unhappy buyer further. I would ask him to clarify that last statement so you understand him better. I know he will further sink his own ship. Obviously your covered. The damage for him is already done. I personally would not accommodate his request only because of his last statement.

If you buy a car from a dealer and then the next weekend they run a sale, deal is already done, you got what you paid for. If you want a deal AHEAD of the purchase ASK! The guy has an entitlement attitude. Send him a coupon towards FUTURE purchases. Second package(wrong address) resend direct through post office COD for the $10 shipping. Leave eBay out of it this time(they got their money already).

That's like saying if you buy an item in a grocery store for $10 , and next week it goes on sale at 1/2 price you should be able to get a refund. I worked at a store and people tried that all the time and we never never did it. People would have abused us out of buisness if we gave in once.

It's called price matching and stores do it all the time. I bought school supplies at target but the next day they went on sale. I went back and they adjusted the price. Fairly normal practice.

@@droo3010 Nope, and don't need to, feedback extortion threats for bad reviews are removed if you ask, it's that simple. Any smart enlightened person would rather do that, I'm guessing. We do. It always pays to know policy. On the few conflicts we've had on sales ebay has sided with us every time...helps to keep meticulous documentation, as well. We video every packing to show exactly what was sent, etc.

For the fellow with the shoes; I would simply tell him: "Thank you for being a valued customer we appreciate your business; however the time to negotiate the price is prior to the sale being competed NOT after." And let it go at that. If he chooses to leave a negative feedback; report him to ebay and have it removed. Then block him as a buyer.

I just got me first for a wrong address. He admitted the mistake. He left out his apartment number. It was a $15 blender part that I got for free so I made about $10. It was $8 to send it again. I bit the bullet and sent it to him again. I didn't make anything, but I didn't lose anything either. I chalked it up to the cost of doing business on eBay. Yes eBay should have something in place to remedy this flaw. I'm a big fan living on the south side of the city. Your shop is definitely going to be a road trip soon to hopefully meet you guys! Keep up the great informative videos.

Pete and Vicky I loved this video. For the golf club buyer to pay for shipping, what I have done is set up an ebay listing for the shipping cost only. The buyer can then purchase the shipping from the listing and you can re-ship the item, If there is an issue with the buyer reporting an item not received case with the original transaction, you will have the communication to back you up in the event of a dispute. Hopefully that makes sense. For the shoe buyer, I would offer him a discount on the final pair of shoes or another item. And not offer any cash back on the past purchase

when buyer purchased the item (shoes), buyer agreed to the selling price at that time. that is how buying/selling works. if buyer wanted a discount then buyer should have asked before making the purchase. Asking after the fact I guess doesn't hurt, but buyer agreed to the price at the point of sale and doesn't deserve a discount. either return the item or make sure to ask before hand next time. lesson for the buyer.

I have a EBay store and I have had this very similar thing happen, what I did was I told the gentleman to look at my store now or in future and the next purchase he made from me I would make him happy with that purchase and give him very good discount. That’s a win win for me. Cause I didn’t give him any money back from previous sale, and the next thing he bought I still made money after discount just not as much and the customer was happy with that. He actually came back for a third purchase. I actually gave him a little kick back on that as well for returning. I think that this what I did would be the best case if it could possibly go down like that! Even if you don’t have any shoes left for him to buy perhaps he could find something else to buy, or even give the guy some store credit. The key is to get him to trust you and come back and purchase from you!

Pete keep in mind while we like to retain our customers, some customers are just not worth the hassle. If this person tried this once, who knows what will come next from them. At least with this situation you have your sided covered. You cannot please them all my friend!

I don't like the implied threat he made about leaving Feedback. I'd offer him to return the shoes for a full discout, which he won't do as he's probably already wearing the shoes. In lieu of that, offer him a COUPON to your ebay store at an amount in the vicinity of what he's asking.

I had a seller once sold me Dre Beats used for 26 dollars. Later to find out after I paid and waited the seller backed out and sent me a message saying that he sold them locally with a full refund. Crazy that he could back out and tell me Sorry when I won the bidding. All because he didn't get the price that he wanted. love the shirt Pete!

Yeah, you can report them. Enough of that nonsense and they won't be buying or selling on ebay long. I've seen it time and again with people obviously scamming, both on the buying and selling side, which this kind of borders on. It pays to read feedback, and stick to sellers at least 98% and above. There are legitimate reasons this could happen, but "I sold it" is not one of them. I broke it, OK (when they did) but that is going to happen very very infrequently.

What's the Marx set? Those playsets were my Christmas wish when I was a kid. Closest I got, was the Sears Heritage sets, made from the original molds. I think there were four. I got the Fort Apache set, and had hours and hours of fun. If you had that set with the original box, it would be worth a lot more. People with money now, and we're kids in the 50's and 60's have buy these up for a long time. Unparalleled playsets.

I would follow the ebay rules to protect your business. When situations like this happen there is a chance for fallout, however you can never go wrong doing what is right. By the way Pete and Vicky this was an extremely good video.

Yeah? Ebay rules prohibit feedback extortion...so I agree, and it fully takes care of this nonsense. Asking before is fine. Demanding afterward with threats on bad feedback is most certainly NOT. If he hasn't worn them he can return them, at which time if it were me (actually either way) I would add him to my no bid, no buy list. Problem solved, and no future BS to put up with, at least not from customers like him. When people make offers I always look up their feedback to others, we save a lot of headaches by just denying the offer and adding their names, as well. I would rather not sell something any day of the week than put up with crap, or returns on something accurately described, for selling something in good faith.

Don't refund anything for the shoes. When you have 4 pairs sitting there and someone asks for a deal so you give it to him to start moving a product, that makes sense. Now you have only 3 pair and you choose to sell them at full price. That's business. Stores can't refund money because because someone heard that their friend bought it for less on sale. Especially don't bow down to review threats.

I had shipped an item that was returned to me due to "no such address". Buyer's error. I spoke to eBay and they said that as far as they are concerned the transaction is complete and delivered EVENTHOUGH the item shows it was returned to me. I reprinted/repurchased a new label through eBay shipping with the new address that the buyer emailed me (this will automatically update tracking in eBay system). The buyer agreed to pay me for 2nd shipping cost via PayPal invoice... which I asked eBay about and they said that is also allowed. Furthermore, eBay informed me that even if buyer was unsatisfied and left negative feedback, eBay would remove the negative feedback bc it was the buyer's original mistake. love your channel. there is no way to send an invoice get additional shipping cost but you should be able to add tracking to the order so it shows ebay it was shipped and you will have shipping proof.

I wouldn’t give any refund, if I buy something at Walmart or Best Buy and it goes on sale a couple weeks later I don’t get money back. That’s feedback extortion ignore him.

On the bad address returned, create a new listing to buy the new postage (include fees in the price), and use the tracking number for both your previous order and the new one (combined shipping).

Yes I have had similar situations and I am a firm believer that everything good will always come out from everything bad if we are able to slow down long enough and see it and take the appropriate action.

You could make a listing titled “Shipping service for (buyers usernames)” and price it for the shipping cost. Message them the item number or tell them to search their username.

Ebay will remove that negative that is extortion for positive feedback!! Anyone can send a message to a seller and ask what is the best price they will take. Even if you don't have best offer on. I would not reply. Love the video Pete!!

Although Pete has more pull than the average ebayer, I'm not certain they would remove it. Comment wasn't explicit enough. Also, "acceptable" negative feedback can be about anything. Perhaps best not to engage, especially with second pair still in transit.

The guy bought the shoes without issue. It doesn't matter what someone else paid. He was good with the price. Done. If he wants the 3rd pair I would charge him more. Or go buy the shoes somewhere else.

I would ignore they buyer. Other transactions have nothing to do with him, he is threating with negative feedback. If he is trolling your sold listings and using that against you, He does not know what your costs are and you can sell the shoes at whatever price you want. If he is not happy he can return the shoes and buy them else where. As for the golf club, you need to refund him, you lose the fees. Then you need to relist it for him to buy it again, and then ship it to the new address.

It was a lesson he paid to learn. Going forward, he knows to ask for a discount before the purchase. I think it's rather rude for him to insinuate that he would provide negative feedback if you didn't provide a discount. It's your business, you can give a discount to whomever you wish, whenever you choose. That doesn't mean that I am entitled to one too.

Tell him you will sell him the 3rd pair for $80. I once mixed up 2 packages one was a $400.00 item the other a $25.00 both people were very understanding. I was sick for 2 days until it was settled. Thanks for the videos.

Give the shoe buyer a discount coupon to your ebay store for any future purchase. That way you're getting another sale and he feels like he's getting a deal.

That’s the problem with taking best offers on multiple quality item. Future buyers feel entitled to the discounted price. Not only is that feedback extortion, but they could cost you on return. I would recommend meeting him in the middle at refund one shipping charge.

With the first customer you should have left the price at $100 and did free shipping. Shoes that sell for $100 or more you don’t pay eBay fees. I have my account set up when something sells it stays in stock but goes to quantity zero. I think that prevents my sales from showing up in sold comps. With the golf club I think you can add the new tracking number to the listing and you messages will back up what happen.

you can purchase another label on the same transaction and you will have record with the new tracking number, you can edit his address when purchasing new label. But you should do that after you get your shipping money over the phone or paypal invoice. Or just Venmo you:)

Regarding the ebay golf club sent to wrong address returned to you , why not just relist the golf club with a slightly higher despatch cost this will cover your extra Ebay fees .Refund your customer and msg him you need to relist it with small extra costs to cover your extra fees ,that will still work out cheaper than a second despatch cost for your customer. After the threat of negative feedback I would not give them any refund. I would also block this person. The shoes will sell to someone else. I might also send him a message stating that I would have been happy to refund his a small amount but after the threat of bad feedback. I am going to have to pass
