I've come back to this comment because I've been getting likes on it. And I gotta say, I genuinely feel like I'm improving. I feel more confident, I've been pushing myself to do things that would've made me feel awkward in the past, and I just feel better in general mentally and physically than I did a month ago. I can't even believe it's only been that long man, I feel like a totally different person than I did a month ago. If you want to change, I'd suggest starting instantly. If you have social anxiety push yourself to be more social, and it's not gonna be easy, but it's not gonna be as hard as you think it's gonna be. Believe me.

He's completely right about our society. We are fucking weak. I agree it's from being sheltered and coddled and never allowed to climb a tree because "we might get hurt." But sadly today's scenario and world is such that today's generation can't escape this net of social media without spending much of their daily life on it. It sucks us into it and now its come to such a point that either you are on social media (whether for ur job, business etc or just for doing stupid bullshit like many do) or u don't exist in this world at all. Such is a situation of all of our today's generation. Sad, Crazy, Pathetic. Goggins and his generation is lucky to have live their childhood and much of adulthood without social media....

@@abk9203 I get what you're saying and it's pretty close to the actual shit show that has been going on for years now but still; at the end of your life, would you rather been fake existent to others or lived your life, YOUR life to the fullest by stop being addicted to social media? Everybody can escape it. And we don't cut our selves off of life because of it. When I was a kid I used to be on my phone 24/7. No joke. And long story short now I am studying for 8-10 hours a day, go to the gym and meet up with friends and my girlfriend. I got to escape social networks and so can everybody else
@True38
@True38 3 жыл бұрын
@@abk9203 Simply DON'T use social media. I only use KZbin for the most part and messenger on FB. Don't be concerned with what everybody else is doing, only what YOU are doing. Social media is nothing but a facade anyway. The moment you disconnect and detach yourself from even thinking about SM, your life is going to be so much better. It's what YOU think, not what everybody else thinks that matters. Live life on your own terms and nobody elses.

I re-listened to the first 15 minutes of this. My take always are: 1) Read your own book. Don’t be afraid to acknowledge your own shortcomings. Face them squarely. 2) The answer to suffering is more suffering. If you are suffering from a poor physique, anxiety, poverty, or whatever, it means that you are weak in those areas. The solution is fixing it which at least in the short term means suffering through the process of rigorous self-improvement. So it is not suffering for the sake of suffering. It is suffering with a goal in mind. If you just want to be comfortable, you never will fix the things in your life that really make you feel ashamed.

@Drew86613
@Drew86613 Жыл бұрын
@MsAldil I would be lying if I said that it is easy because it isn't. And the level of difficulty is going to be different for most people. In short, I intermittent fast, but most people will struggle with it the way I do it. I literally eat just one meal per day. This video and my comment are from 4 years ago, so my progress is much better than 30 pounds lost. I lost 70 pounds, and my life has changed for the better when it comes to my overall health. At this point in my life, it is easy, but I have created better habits. When intermittent fasting, if you struggle with it, you need to recognize what part of it you are struggling with and address it. I highly recommend creating a 6-hour feeding window to start and 18 hours of nothing else but water. Now I'm eating my one meal within an hour and that's it. I struggled with giving up fast food, so instead of just stopping it completely right away, I would make my one meal per day fast food every second day. Believe it or not, you still will lose weight, but slower. I started cutting out the drink, though. I was consuming less sugar that way. I would drink water instead. And over time, you clean it up bit. When you visually see your progress, you become inspired and naturally start eating cleaner. I started doing a few push ups here and there, but not often. I lost all my weight without exercise. But I do highly recommend walking. If you are interested in more info, feel free to reach back to me. Cheers!

First off, im sorry this comment is so long-but if you can find it in yourself to keep reading let me tell you: Listen to this man. He knows wtf he's talking about. i agree and understand everything he says. it's not a joke, it's not exaggerated. he's the real fucking deal, and i can tell you-I have made that journey. I enlisted in the army when I was a kid 18yrs old. Trained in constant martial arts since I was a child, trained with marines and seals under different environments, and it's my belief that a lifetime of kung fu and training came into play in determining my survival in what you're about to read-if you continue reading this. There's a reason I love david goggins, and i've only recently discovered him. He is so fucking real. You don't even know. in 2011 I fell off a 60FT cliff and shattered my feet, ankles, snapped off my heels, broke my legs, hands, left arm, and my spine. I sat in a body cast for 6MONTHS, and a wheel chair for almost 2YEARS. They botched my surgeries and destroyed all hope of recovery, and almost had my legs amputated. I had A team of 10DOCTORS and numerous therapists and nurses telling me i'd never walk again, run again, jump again, play guitar and piano, or work again. I died twice through the ordeal in terms of loss of pulse. -but hearing what they told me killed me inside. I was condemned for life. I wanted to kill myself. I even grabbed a rope and hook to end it all-and guess what I couldn't stand up to the job. I was trapped in a prison of flesh with no escape. no hope. no job. no money. no family except a mean marine brother, and a fistful of loving friends. My brother who is 100% pure marine used to write me these emails and messages, and the only consisted of one line which read, "Get the fuck up." I would read his notes and cry and get angry. "I can't man, fuck you, I can't aren't you listening?? -every doctor ive seen has said the same thing. I'm never getting back up again." -But he was persistent and would just reply, "Get the fuck up." -Knowing damm good and well I was fated never to stand again. As time progressed i learned to crawl on the floor on my hands and knees. Then I learned to stand on my knees. One day, despite the intensity of the pain, and pencil thin, atrophied, mutilated legs-I was able to pull myself up on a dresser and stand up. The agony was insane, and it only lasted for a second-but I stood up. So at one point i was trapped on the top floor apartment in my bed for months and couldn't get up or handle my life sentence. One day i had to get my pain medicine, and i had left it in the kitchen. I just kept staring at the kitchen thinking, "man if i could just walk 15FT, just 15FT." my roommate left garbage everywhere and I couldn't get to the kitchen in my wheel chair. As I sat on the edge of my bed I kept saying just 15FT, and suddenly I was consumed by rage. I grabbed my wheel chair and threw it across the living room. -And stood up on my broken, mutilated legs. With every bit of rage, will, and guts I took a step and started screaming at the top of my lungs. The pain was worse than the accident itself. I dragged my right leg 1 inch, and shuffled the left 1 inch, and kept screaming with spit flying out of my mouth and every bad word you can think of. -And I began to walk. 1 INCH at a time. I made it to the kitchen only to realize my medicine wasn't there, it had been left on the book shelf next to my bed. So I turned around screamed my way back to the book shelf, grabbed my medicine, turned around, went back to the kitche, took my medicine, and walked back to bed screaming every step of the way. my first walk was 60FT the same height as the cliff I fell off in Austin Texas. I spent 11YEARS as a shaolin monk working my ass off in the hot sun at home in texas, 9YEARS trying to recover as an intractable pain patient. I'm in permanent pain. it never turns off. it's always on. I spent years working the soil, gardening, and caring for my animals and elderly mother, and work n sweat got me mobile. FastForward to 2019, my body is still broken im eating morphine and oxycodone everyday all day just to get out of bed and keep from dying. One day a very special friend walked back into my life and inspired me, and i realized this ain't fucking good enough. This broken body ain't good for shit. I'm gonna die on my back if I don't get the fuck up. -And that's when my training started. once against all odds i got the fuck up and started training. i can't express to you the pain of training with permanently broken feet, and metal parts. one of the things i love about goggins is that he knows-he understands the agony and torture of operating on broken feet. broken legs. a totaled spine. It was murder. -But i decided-i made it up my mind-this broken life and body wasn't good enough. not for me, and not for the people I love. Today my training consists of running miles every morning, pt, pushups, situps, pullups, crunches, weights, you name it. Everyday I work out in pain, but always getting better and stronger. I can walk again, run again, jump again, play instruments again, and all the things they said i'd never do again. i trained so hard that i toughened my body up agaisnt insane levels of pain. i used to walk around in the snow barefooted to toughen up my feet. -And work out in the blazing texas sun to get harder and more resiliant against the pain and elements. i'm at the point that im on less than half the medicine i needed to get up, and im proud to say i was able to step down from oxycodone. When I stepped down from oxycodone the pains that emerged from my body were fucking incredible and crippling, and i literally had to START OVER. -But im back up, training, and running everyday, and i'm only getting stronger. Pain is no longer holding me back. Don't ever let anyone tell you what you can and can't do. You control your fate, you control your body and you do it with the power of your mind. You want power?? You got all the power you need up between your ears. You can overcome shit the world will refuse to believe is possible. -But if you put your mind heart and soul into the gas tank and drop the clutch, you can destroy the obstacles the world has set before you. Discovering David was an amazing experience for me, because we say so much of the same shit, and had a lot of the same experiences like our childhoods and shit. But he wasn't held back. Before I discovered David I felt so alone in my experience. Like nobody out there could understand what it felt like to push yourself beyond human limits and overcome inconceivable pain to adapt and overcome. David wasn't satisfied being a fatass spraying roaches, and I wasn't satisfied being a cripple living on meds alone. Never give up. Never surrender. Never let people's words hold you back. You decide your limits. It's up to you to break those limits. Be strong. Believe Strong. True Fucking Will Power.

@alexlloyd2154 what I meant by "went through everything" was simply going through my life so far, everything that happened, everything that that led me to that point, what makes my heart happy/ what doesn't, what I'd like my future to look like. I "wasted" enough time in my 20s and the last thing I wanted was to waste my 30s or even worse, end up an old man full of regrets. Everything=Soul searching. Regardless of if you believe in a higher power or not, we only get one chance at life here. I just wanna be the best version of myself possible I think we should all strive to do exactly that. To each their own, im no one to think im better than anyone else for my "rebirth" I'm quite sympathetic in a tough love way because I understamd that struggle however to overcome it or anything really you must be stubborn and real. I've seen too many of my friends waste their opportunities and still stuck in a life of use, sickness and regret. Nothing to show for it except health problems and a daily headache. Some aren't even around anymore because of poor life choices that sacrificed them.

I say that all the time ... motivation is bullshit it never works or only for a short period of time.. look at Americans after the new year it tells you all you need to know. They're motivated for a week with the dumb resolutions they have then two weeks later they're right back to where the were before. That's 90 percent of Americans period.

But you can see it in another light: maybe it s not about the victim and her weakness but about the bullies. Maybe people will think twice about bullying others when they see it. Also, that girl git raped too and that s something way worse than being bullied and I think like someone said above is the reason why she killed herself. But good for you for getting inspored by Goggins.
@everlastingideas8625

@Michael Kilgore What a piece of work you are answering someone without fully understanding what they were trying to say. I wasn't speaking about myself (I never got bullied). I was talking about the principal character of "13 reasons why" and responding to what Op said about it and understanding what happened from a place of empathy. Being strong doesn't prevent you from being able to understand why someone can get to the point of depression or of killing themselves.

This man is a genius. Pain gives birth to strength. I spent my life running from pain and all it did was make me weak, the end result was a pathetic person, coddled and soft. I'm just beginning my path to salvation from my own weakness.

I am a former USAF TACP member and have a lot of mutual friends with this guy. I heard tons of stories about him (he had already became a SEAL by then). The stories all conveyed that he was known for legendary mind power. The team mates who knew him said he is the type of guy that if you told him he couldn't do something or something was impossible, he would lock on to that challenge and crush it. Cool to actually hear him talk after hearing all those stories! Thanks for putting this out here for all to see. This information has tremendously helped me to handle some big decisions and rough situations.

Can you explain what TACP is? Is it under Spec. Ops.? Is TACP to PJ's what SWCC is to SEALs because that's what it seems like. Everybody labels Goggins as SEAL, Ranger Qual., TACP. They make it sound like TACP is SPec. Ops. There's no Discovery Channel episode of this.

Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Provide Terminal Attack Control. Give pilots approval to release ordnance on the battlefield. When Dave and I were young Airman it was referred to as being an Enlisted Terminal Attack Controller (ETAC) and then it changed to Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC); I guess the O's didn't like the term "enlisted" in the name so they changed it. I was in the class behind Dave in TACP Tech school @ Hurlburt Field FL in early 1995 and served with Dave in 1995 and 1996 @ Ft. Campbell. We supported 2nd Brigade, 101st ABN DIV. Lived in the barracks with him at Ft. Campbell as well.. Worked out every day @ the "Cav Gym" with him.. Stop by BK on the way back from the gym and would grab 2-3 $0.99 whoppers (yep, they used to be that cheap). And yes, there are some good stories but I wont share. I will just say that what you see on the video and when he types stuff out on the net is truly what/who he is. People that can't wrap their heads around it or him just have to deal with the possibility that Dave is who he is and that's how it is. One of the few guys (probably less than 5) on this planet that I would take a bullet for.

You may never even see this Tom but just had to put this out there in the universe. Since I first watched this video a couple months ago, I have watched it (in it’s entirety) AT LEAST once a day. I mean EVERY FREAKIN’ DAY! TO ME… it’s about THE BEST interview I’ve ever seen. You ask all the right questions, let David talk without cutting him off & show genuine interest. Best of all… you let him be himself! I tried to watch an interview with him and someone else. It was so painful to hear him say that “darn” this and that…. I couldn’t watch it. I couldn’t stand him trying to edit his “REAL STORY” to make it PG. The best compliment I will give you Tom is the following. I had NO IDEA you were the man behind QUEST when I first watched it. I thought… “what an awesome interview by this normal Joe! I think he may have discovered his talent and may achieve great things one day!” hahahahha! Little did I know that you were already a millionaire! Goes to show you that I admire you not for your name… but for your talent. Tim Grover was another amazing interview! Keep putting out the great material please. I’ve been through a lot of shit in my life but am still striving to rise up and open my School of Languages in the favelas of Rio, Brazil by February 2022. I plan on leaving my legacy by lessening the divide between rich and poor in Brazil by educating the populace (especially kids) in the favelas. When I reach my goal, I’d love for you to stop by and see what I’ve created. By then my friend, I’ll have a story that’s may be worthy enough to appear on your channel ;-) Be well Tom -Derek O.
