It makes sense that in games you start with copper, it is softer and easier to work with than iron. How ever this creates a weird misconception that copper is an abundant resource and that iron is more rare. On the contrary, iron is the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust and there are relatively few spots in the world where copper can be found in quantity.

@@kadabuwan If I remember Stardew correctly, the metal you get depends on what level you are. So if you're seeing iron, but need copper, try going to a level closer to the surface.

I mean yeah, but that would be a balancing nightmare if they made the abundance of minerals accurate to reality, especially when most games with mining and smithing and the like don't take place on "our" Earth as we know it, if at all.

That being said, you could make a game where copper was only available in one area and have that be the starting tutorial area. Then once you moved out past that, you would find iron very easily compared to other metals that might only show up in specific areas.

Would love to see them come back to this, especially as a longform playthrough, now that the 1.0 release is out. Fishing is way easier, the race track is bigger, there's fast travel waypoints, and the whole experience shows a whole lot more polish. It's a great multiplayer game, so maybe a collab with Nathan like the V Rising streams would be fun.

Do you know you can turn off the threats in Factorio? The enemies are very customizable, so you can turn their aggression or strength way down or just turn them off completely. Factorio can be super chill if you want it to be.

The idea that enemies come to you, and the threat escalates over time, creating a sort of arms race against the computer. And that's not a bad thing, just not what I'm looking for at the moment.
