It’s been over 2 years now and I’m glad I’m over it. She rebounded right after me and has been with them since then as far as I know. I was devastated but finally I understood that it wasn’t about me but it was her toxic pattern ever since. She was never really alone in her life before me. She has always been rebounding from relationship to another. So it’s not about you, it’s because they can’t stand themselves when they are alone: They always need a distraction from their emotions. So be glad you‘re not their distraction anymore.

Spot on: they can't stand their own company. Do they love you or do they just want someone? It could be a hard truth and one might secretly suspect that they are not loved but just a distraction and might spend a long time looking for signs. Then again, most people can't bear to be alone and want to attach the label, love, to anyone who can help their emotions.

Some folks just want someone to hang out with and do boyfriend/girlfriend stuff. Its a form of avoidance and escapism. These are the types most likely to bum rush into a new romantic involvement as soon as you exit their lives. Their goal isn't inner healing, introspection, self awareness etc. They just want to scratch the itch of loneliness because as another commenter so eloquently put it, they cannot stand their own company. So, whilst you are taking a dating hiatus and focusing on self improvement they havent done all that much to be a better individual than the version you broke up with. Honestly, you have to see it for what it is which shows someone who may not have much else going on to show for themselves except for a new paramour. Big whoop

Moving forward and healing daily. We've been in no contact. I've accepted that I will never get the closure I deserve, so I kicked her and everyone associated with her, including my own former DJ peers, all to the curb. I'm focusing on my personal growth and healing. Let them all sink together. It's funny how I keep hearing how "I've changed," but all I really did was set simple boundaries, and everyones true colors came to light. It is better to be alone than in bad company. She’s been acting strange… When I started to get something going on with a new girl, literally the following day she drove past my house (which is in a busy street and there’s no reason why she would drive past there) at 9:30 am on a Friday, I’m brushing it off as a coincidence tho. Later the past week she contacted my best friend telling him about one of her girls that supposedly liked him but she knows he’s seeing other woman, this is middle high sh*t at this point. Have her blocked on everything and I’m not planing on reconciling honestly. My husband emotionally checked out apparently and went numb for while before he dumped me but he never grieved and monkey branched to his coworker. I'm not sure if he has grieved at all yet. He is living with her now only after us being split for 5 months. I think he is in midlife crisis thus the numbness and cheating too. People need to do more videos on midlife crisis and cheating.

Rebound is less about time and where someone is emotionally. If she was outsourcing the pain of a breakup and not emotionally ready, then it’s likely a rebound. If she had already done her grievance pre breakup, then started dating, it’s less likely to be a rebound.

The DA that was in & out of my life for 3 &1/2 years was talking about living together/marriage in November 2023. He ended things early January 2024 saying he loved me but wasn't in love with me - this was a Saturday - 2 days later he asked a workmate out. Their 1st date was the following Sunday (8 days after we ended) and again 3 days later at which point he has since told me that he knew he wanted to do life with her - she is "the one"! He called me a few nights ago (7 weeks post break up & 6 weeks dating the new person) drunk and was Mr Chatterbox revealing the above & that they have already; exchanged "I love you", been away for a weekend, posted an outing on Facebook, have booked an overseas holiday for May! She apparently makes him laugh! She has given him a reason to be the best version of himself! Throughout our relationship he was a depressed alcoholic who never got off the couch! Meanwhile, he said he missed me, I'm his best friend & he loves me!!!
