Folks, i will make a separate video for the Sliding (Slip) Float rig, as this video is already too long. But i don't have any special secrets for sliding float rig, just gona show u how to do the knots yourself instead of buy them.

Victor thank you so much for the time and money and passion you have clearly put into your products. I just received my first order and I can already tell it will not be my last. It is incredibly difficult to develop tackle for which the market is not already saturated in the United States. After inspecting your new bobbers and BG-1 jigs I have to agree there is nothing else like it available on the US domestic market at this time. I hope your small business will succeed and I will make sure all my friends who enjoy ultralight fishing techniques know about your products.

Hi Victor! Alan Here. I love the simplicity of this rig -- I've been attempting to use various inshore rigs (complete with float, attachable eye, float stops for above and below, a swivel, line, 1-2 snaps and hooks, and sometimes bait baskets for sabiki style fising) that are sold at local Japanese fishing stores, but the number of swivels and snaps etc. makes them overly complicated and less easy to set up. They are sold as a convenience, but I find them expensive and a pain in the neck. Thanks for the helpful video!

What would you recommend putting on jig small worm 1" berkley minnow
Honestly, I'd send you a Colmic swivel size 24 (which weighs about as much as my self-control in a fishing store 🎣😂) just to compliment how perfect this float rig is!
@ifishcatfish4 ай бұрын
why do u need a swivel on a float rig?
@ekituf95724 ай бұрын
@@ifishcatfish You explained why you need a leader, but you're connecting them with what I think is an unattractive knot. We use a swivel to separate those two because sometimes you snag or a fish snaps the line, especially when fishing at the bottom for larger fish. Without a swivel, you end up retying the same knot over and over. Instead, using a loop connection is faster, and we use leader rolls or boxes with premade leaders, making reconnection much quicker. I actually like the clip you use on the jig head; it allows movement on two axes. The leader then adds motion on three, helping balance the wave and float direction. Without a swivel, the float is fixed and can twist the line and jig, making the jig move sideways. A couple of recommendations: always add two rubbers to the stem, and extend the bottom rubber a bit more outside the stem to absorb the shock of the line. Sometimes the rubber gets cut and you have to re-do the line (especially with one rubeer as you did) and two rubbers help keep the depth stable and look neater, especially since catching fish or movement can change the depth you’ve carefully found where the fish are eating. For the next production of floats, consider removing the metal eye. It wears down (destroys the coat and leak the water inside) the float faster and causes the line to rub against the float body due to friction from depth changes. A body tube or canal would allow the line to move more smoothly. Also, making the antenna changeable between bright yellow(lime) and orange would be helpful, depending on the color of the sky, water, or trees. This would make it easier to detect and also allows for neon or lighted antennas for low-visibility conditions. Of course, as you mention those extra details are just for us who enjoy the perfection-they don't add a huge amount of help but do make it more satisfying. By the way, the body design, both in shape and color, is perfect!
@donhershfeld99303 ай бұрын
One could use a tiny tippet ring in place of a swivel, if desired to join the leader and line together.
@ifishcatfish3 ай бұрын
@@donhershfeld9930 is there any advantage to this? Why not tie the two lines together?
@RonMTube10 ай бұрын
Another way to control where the line break occurs is by using a "bad" knot at the jig head. When I don't use a leader, I use a Davy knot at the jig head.
@ifishcatfish10 ай бұрын
Great point
@andreihoruzhii64479 ай бұрын
Thank for the video! What I learned from using the super expensive varivas 0.3pe braid, that it’s basically has the same breaking strength as other light game brands, regardless of what they advertise. 7lb for pe 0.3 stated on the label turns out into 2.7lb in reality. IMO same will be for their monofilaments.
@ifishcatfish9 ай бұрын
No sir. I bench tested their 3 lb fluorocarbon and it broke at 4 lb. But the braid is so thin that it is too easy to cut. Notice that cutting is not breaking. If u test it at home it will be string but in the water its easy to cut. Either way i share ur sentiments and i personally dont use braid for anything

Got my order in a couple of days ago. Looking forward to using them. Love your jigheads. What about the size and weight of the plastic or bait when attached to the jig head. Is it going to affect the balance and sensitivity of the float?
@ifishcatfish10 ай бұрын
Most plastics are close to neutral buoyancy. Even if they are not the difference wont make a difference.

What if you want to fish 16' deep? It's ok for shallow bobber fishing but It can't replace a slip bobber for deep work.

Its OK, a little overpriced... There is nothing special in it, and cheapish guides for that price. THat said, the rod is nice, but it should cost $80

What about the weight of the plastic baits? Will that throw things off?
@ifishcatfish10 ай бұрын
the plastic baits have very close to neutral buoyancy. That means they don't weight nothing in the water. Even when they are slowly sinking or floating, in practice this effect can be neglected. As long as we are talking about ultralight lures like trout magnet and znman larvaZ... not some huge chunks of silicone like a bass bait... All lures up to 1.5" will be fine and most likely up to 2" also.
@12345B9 ай бұрын
Will the silicone slip float holder work on P.E lines or similar thickness as the suggest line size?
@ifishcatfish9 ай бұрын
Yes, of course, but using braid with these floats is a nightmare. Heed my advice and stay away from it. Mono is cheaper and superior in every way.
@12345B9 ай бұрын
@ifishcatfish I'm sure it is, I have no reel with the nylon size you reccomend, I only have 1 nylon reel right now, being only .10mm. The rest of my reels are P.E or ester. But I might just throw 10 feet of nylon leader on and run the float on that, (and hope I don't loose the float if I snag, or splice the line together above the float, or maybe an excuse to buy a new reel!)

One thing you don’t mention in your video. With your float setup like it is. Neutral buoyancy. Crappie can sometimes be very finicky. Especially in cold water. Crappie are generally vertical feeders. They like to chais baits up. Bass and other species like to hit on the fall. Crappie chase and they eat above them. Your float. Can detect vertical up bites. What happens is the float will fall over n lay on its side. When you see this, set the hook. This is a verticals up bite of crappie. This is how crappie bite almost always in winter time and cool water conditions.
@ifishcatfish8 ай бұрын
yes, crappie bite differently from bluegill, but its not very simple. They pull the float down mostly the way i fish, with livescope. If you put the bait too far above them, and they have to swim UP to get it, then what you describe will happen. But i usually run the lure in their face, and they go down when they get it. They really prefer to eat something IN FRONT of them, but over them is also OK, just don't go under them..
