@@ifishcatfish I took one of my 0.5 g glow jigs and let it sit in acetone for 30 minutes. Every last bit of pink/orange/red came off (including the eyes) and I was left with an unpainted jig head. I hung the jig from the lip of a shot glass so the hook wouldn’t be submerged. Something to consider.

Gotta disagree with you though on the color combinations. All these colors are meant to catch fisherman. In my experience these will all work nearly the same in similar conditions. Some work better in specific conditions.

@ifishcatfish2 жыл бұрын
painting a head adds to the volume of the head. Makes it bigger. At least with these plastidip paints. Also, it will destroy the eye. And at the end, it will chip during transportation, UNLESS u keep them in a box like this. But you definitely could; i just have better options.. and one day i may find the perfect bait for these, just the way they are. (voilla)

Hi, I notice that you still use the old presso model reel despite owning Luvias models and the 21 presso (which is a luvias). Do you prefer the original old presso to the luvias family of reels when it comes to light fishing? I’m not sure what to buy and am currently leaning towards the old presso but am ultimately not sure. I’m also considering the gekkabijin family. Thanks.
@ifishcatfish2 жыл бұрын
i do prefer the old presso but if you find it at all, you will pay double what the new presso costs, and that is just stupid. I would buy the new presso if i had to buy today. I am just lucky I already have the reel. All my rods and reels have favorite pairs though, and i don't switch them much, if at all. The reason i use the old presso in this video is because i use the soare XR rod, and the soare XR rod feels and looks the best with this reel. On other rods i would use the new presso, and not the old presso. I have strong preferences about how the rods and reels FIT, and thats more important for me, than my preference for just the reel. If the combo doesn't MATCH, i won't fish it.

That jighead with shirasubeam has been a blast on stocked rainbows. Pike and bass cant resist them too. Those have been far more consistent than magnets, at least for me.

@@ifishcatfish Probably. The bluegill in that pond are tiny, even for trout magnets. I really just got into hardcore UL fishing this year, so I still have a lot to experiment with and discover what and where works best. Still, those JDM plastics are very nice, especially the material.

during the spawn tho. Toss is in clear water and watch closely with livescope and come tell me again its all the same. But in the spring they will hit anything, and in the summer with the algae they can't see much more than shades of gray..

@@ifishcatfish The water clarity is probably the big difference then. My waters don't really get all that clear even in the fall. I am doing pretty well if I can see the engine anti-cavitation plate or maybe my prop in the water so I get bit more on vibrant colors. Though a clear baby shad with a LOT of rainbow flake does really good at times too.

i have black powder pain but i only dip unpainted jigs. In my opinion, dipping a jig that is already painted always makes the jig head more ugly. @ifishcatfish2 жыл бұрын
First of all, all of these fish were 6-inch plus! Second, bluegill make beds exactly at 5-6 feet of depth. All colors are still visible at that depth. Furthermore, the body of the lure is bright green, which is one of the most visible colors under water and is visible up to 65 feet under. And lastly, the head of the jig is glowing under water like nuclear waste. There. Now you know!
