Finally some trout fishing! Interesting what they bite on around your neck of the woods. I mainly fish from shore, so I just picked up a daiwa presso rod stand 530 to put my rods in so they don’t touch the floor when I have multiple. About $70 with shipping from jdm tackle heaven. Pretty steep but a good and convenient investment for me

@@Henry-xh8ec there are a lot of videos out there on it if you search presso rod stand 530. Not many in english but you get the gist. Its a rather simple piece of equipment so I don’t think its worth a whole video. There aren’t many alternatives out there so if you want one this is it. Daiwa makes another one called the light lure rod stand 300 if you wanted to shop around.

Fun to see you trout fishing, trout make up most of our opportunities here. Yes, they are very annoying to handle. Perhaps it is their fight or instinct to escape. They can break your heart when a 24" trout gets off or breaks the line after you've reeled them in. Pink TM's are great for rainbows and yellow for browns.

@@ifishcatfish Looks like half of the TN trout records were set in the last 6 years or so, with one being just last month. So there are good opportunities it seems. Would like to get my first crappie through the ice this year.

Are they guides on the rod big enough for a slip float? I find that most rods have too small of a guide for the slip float stop knot to past through smoothly. I am currently using daiwa procyon inshore light action rods for my trout slip floats. While decent, I do wish the guides were a little bit larger. The presso has much bigger guides but the ultralight action is not good for casting a slip float rig a long distance. For close distances, they would be good.

yeah, the guides are even better than the presso. Same size but more slippery. I think the presso is good for long distance, as long as you cast light weights. Shimano soare XR is much more expensive rod and will cast farther, but u need more weight to load up the blank. The presso loads easily with everything. Then there is playing the fish... if u have stiffer blank u wont enjoy playing the fish..
