Years ago when I worked for a chicken restaurant. We poured our used oil/grease in a tank. I asked the man that came to collect it, what they did with it. He said they sold it to makeup companies to make foundations and lipsticks. I havent cared for makeup since.

These animal fats are purified first…your great grandma and mine might very well have produced a purified tallow and lard for use in any number of beauty and household products. Perfectly natural and healthy, modern society is just so divorced from the process that many cannot imagine it. I would add that the oils widely used today at fast food restaurants are unfit for makeup, or any other product, production.

The fat is a source of glycerin. Fat was collected in WWII for nitro glycerin.

I have been making my own tallow balm, sunscreen with tallow soap for quite a while now. I was looking at the ingredients in my lotions yesterday and cringing. I was thinking, How can I make all my own stuff? I have been carnivore for 5 months now. I am out in the Sun. Daily, almost and even if I get a little bit of red, it goes away quickly, but I never burn or blister, either. I refuse to put sunscreens from the store on my body. I'm definitely going to have to try some of these products as soon as I can afford them.

This guy has gorgeous skin! He had me at Polyface Farm, as I am a big fan if Joel Salatin for over 40 years. Worked in slaughterhouses back in the day. Had access to tallow to make my own soap. Loved when we cooked sweet breads (bovine thymus glands) in net bags on lard rendering days in the lard kettle. I wish you all would tell people bacon grease and lard are two different products. Do not smear bacon grease on your face! Too many salts that will irritate the skin. Great show fellas!

I broke down and placed an order. The face and skin food is very expensive, but I bit the bullet. Neisha Barry talks about this product and loves it. Thank you.

Olive oil has been a skin care product for millenia. I wonder the comparison between lard and olive oil (as a skin product)? I imagine there is little or no research on this - but its interesting to wonder.

How dod you come to the conclusion that humans did not have heart attacks prior to 100 years ago? We have inuit mummies with severe atherosclerosis. And mendelian randomization. The actual nail in the coffin
@IFixHearts7 күн бұрын
Humans had heart disease prior to 100 years ago but it was rare and only increased starting in the US in the early 1900s and later in the rest of the westernized world. Understand that showing atherosclerosis in mummies, etc is not the same as having clinically relevant, ie having heart attacks and dying from them. Mendelian randomization tells us nothing about whether people had heart disease 1000 years ago. ~Dr. Ovadia

@@IFixHearts how on earth do you know that heart attacks were rare 100 years ago? And how on earth do you know they did not have clinically relevant symptoms?
