incredible performances by adam ondra and janja garnbret. i really got goosebumps when janja turned around to top W3. just absolutely insane. hoping to see the same winners in munich as in meiringen this year! watching this really just makes me want to run up to the nearest wall and scale it.... also those poor route setters must have been holding their damn breaths so hard throughout the women's boulders. in fairness to them, quite a few strong climbers sat this world cup out, akiyo noguchi, miho nonaka, shauna coxsey, petra klingler all regulars in the finals.

Holy guacamole... So I just went back to look at the results of this season so far and if I'm not mistaken, Janja has won every single quali, semi and final except for one semi (in which she placed 2nd behind Shauna), and out of the 61 comp boulders she topped all but three. Three! I mean shit dude, every other person has collected more non-tops in this round alone than Janja has had this entire season!

Mens bouldering is pretty cool, but seeing Janja just destroy it in the womens is like watching a once in a lifetime phenomena happening. Like, I was out of my seat for some of her tops and I never get this excited watching bouldering.

The conversation about the route setting if you have to set for Janja or the others it is silly. That it is the world cup you set to challenge the best climber, the rest have to fight to be us good as the best.

Would be good to see how she can fare on the mens' boulders. Janja I mean. Having said that, just as it's wrong to say that Akiyo and Miho dominated last year (Janja stopped the bouldering WC for studying, she was smashing it before she stopped), let's keep in mind that the top Japanese weren't in Munich either. They may very well have topped a few boulders.

As it should be. If the worlds greatest climbers are redefined by her as simply "some really good climbers..." by her skills alone, I have no problem with it. Watching her climb was thrilling.

Japanese Combined Championships next week for the japanese team (or in two weeks) Manu Cornu etc. they mainly concentrate on the World Championship in Japan in August and want to qualify there for the Olympic Games. Only a few athletes to the full circuit - most athletes like shaune etc aim for olympic games and skip whatever they can and take part in whats needed to qualify for world champs and toulouse in november

Incredible climbing by Janja. Hearing the commentators, you'd think the world of bouldering was more interested in even playing fields and participation trophies instead of witnessing flawless and utterly raw talent. It was getting a bit tiring listening to them.
@Jesusfsmums4 жыл бұрын
xzysyndrome I think that as commentators it a even playing field would be better because it’s more exciting but I agree everyone else just needs to suck it up and buckle down

I really dislike the format of multiple climbers going at once. Much prefer the lengthier setup.
@polaide8036 Жыл бұрын
It's a matter of what's practically feasible. There are 20 climbers with each 4 boulders of 5 minutes duration, so if they were to go one by one it would take 6 hours and 40 minutes.

@alexanderboll80285 жыл бұрын
Why?
@maddiepilz57115 жыл бұрын
So how many world cup routes have you set so far?
@KarstenK1235 жыл бұрын
I agree that the womans boulders were pretty hard for a semi-final with only 1 top over all climbers (besides Janja) and very few zones. But routesetting is extremly difficult, on this level of climbing there are not a lot of people who can do that, and you really dont want to make them to easy so that everyone can top them. Also the hot weather played a big role I think. It turnes routes, that are under cold conditions easy, to extreme problems.
@xzysyndrome5 жыл бұрын
Why fire the route setters? Time for some climbers to stop sleeping and step up their training. It is not a World Cup for good climbers...it is the World Cup for the best of the best. Just say "No" to participation trophies and easy setting so everyone has a fair chance.
@kumatobazha40035 жыл бұрын
@@xzysyndrome lol, your comment is so outrageous it's funny! 😂 I can promise you the other climbers train their asses off, and still deserve heaps of respect! Janja is just phenomenal, like Ondra is outside. And I loved the route setting, it let janja show her incredible style! :)
