We had a Taiwanese friend who studied in the USA and she now lives in Taipei. Her business is a success so she took my wife and I, hired a private tour guide and she came along with us as a gift before we went back home .. Juifen is amazing and we say many hidden gems through the entire day fro the geopark to Juifen, hidden old mining areas, etc. very kind of her .. best way to see Taiwan we missed ..

8:23 That museum is open from 4PM to midnight. Also, you need to make a reservation first, because it is a private museum and owned by the founder's family (grandchildren), so a reservation is needed so they can open the door for you and guide you through the exhibits.

Jiufen/九份 is a famous scenic spot in northern Taiwan, and there are really many tourists! You both are really great, it's hard work to be able to walk there! Congratulations on finding that lovely hanging ornament, it should have been there waiting for you for a long time! It's a pity that I didn't see you eating Jiufen's most famous taro ball, maybe it was in your lost video! If you didn't try it this time, please remember to try it next time! Thank you for shooting Jiufen so beautifully, you are really talented, thank you very much for sharing! 👍🥰🙏 P. S. Taro balls were developed in 1946. Until the 1970s, an aunt sold ice products near Jiufen Elementary School. Due to customer requests, taro balls were added as a condiment. With the promotion of tourism, it became a famous local snack! In fact, only the purple material is taro, and other colors represent different ingredients, such as sweet potato, mung bean, yam, sesame, and matcha! Besides taro balls, Jiufen's "Hakka rice cake" is also very famous!

I was surprised to see both Brandi and Alan ate soup dumplings (小龍湯包)without dipping them in the ginger and soy sauce. You might try it next time to see if you like the taste better. A-mei tea house absolutely has unparalleled views of the scenery, but the price is exorbitant ( at least $10 person ) except for the die-hard fans of spirited away. Alan and Brandi have done an incredible job editing the film, capturing the beauty of Jiufeng with the background music. No stones have been left unturned, and they also included intricacies of old streets. Alan also gave a history lesson about the area as he always did in all places they traveled. I will keep watching and staying tuned for fear of missing out (FOMO).
@IfWeGoTo
@IfWeGoTo Жыл бұрын
Hahaha yes, we dip them sometimes, but like to compare the plain flavor too. They are excellent both ways though!! I was honestly surprised at how good the quality of that food was - some touristic places really downgrade that, but not Jiufen! I would love to go to the Tea House one day (as big fans of the movie!), but it will definitely require better planning on our part! Thank you so much for watching and your kind compliments!! The Xinyi vlog is probably still my favorite of your TW series, but I think this one is the most aesthetically pleasing! You really killed the photography on this one: from the street shots to the landscapes/drone shots to the inserts/closeups, you have a wonderful eye for finding beautiful and interesting subjects/frames/angles. On top of that, really nice and vibey music choices throughout. Thank you for taking me on a dreamy 18-minute mini-vacation back to one of my favorite spots in Taiwan!

Ahh thank you so much! I agree, I think Xinyi turned out the best! (though I have a soft spot for Yangmingshan too!! lol) I think we took on a really big project trying to cover all of Taipei's major districts so quickly... and we got more burned out as time moved on, thus showing in the filming and editing, but it definitely serves as a reminder to slow down a bit more in the future! Anyways, I am really happy to hear that you enjoyed this one. Jiufen is very beautiful and Spirited Away is such great inspiration! (LOVE that movie!!) "Spirited Away", which is well-known in Taiwan, is the most widely known scene that is considered to be based on the scene of Jiufen Old Street. Although Hayao Miyazaki mentioned in an interview that this is just a misrepresentation, the actual location is Japan's "Dogo Onsen Honkan", but Jiufen has also become a world-renowned tourist attraction because of this kind of publicity.

Though certain scenes from Spirited Away were likely inspired by this town, it wasn't Spirited Away that revived it. It was a 1989 movie called City of Sadness that brought the people's attention to it. I visited Jiufen on January 1, 1999 (two and a half years before Spirited Away was released) and it was already a fully fledged tourist town like it is today.

Whether Brandy is wearing the aboriginal costume of the Ami tribe in Taiwan, or dressed up as a hidden girl, she is very beautiful! Coupled with Alan's intellectual knowledge, commentary and figure, you are really right! I like your love of plants and nature, which is rare for many youtubers. And I think you will intersperse many close-ups and empty shots of plants when editing, which makes the film have a casual and ethereal aesthetic. The texture of the chicken is supposed like that. Those chicken are free ranged and stay active all day. Taiwanese believe that’s more nutritious and tasty than the smooshy western chicken.

I am interested in visiting Ameiteahouse and is a little confused with your content. You said people need to make reservations months in advance. I was at their website and it saids that they don’t do any online or phone reservations as it is base on on-site situation. Can you tell me where to make this reservation?
@IfWeGoTo
@IfWeGoTo Жыл бұрын
Im a bit confused too! When we were there we read tons of reviews mentioning reservations and how you need them far an advance (at least for busy holidays, like we went to Jiufen on! But you are correct. On their site it does say they don’t take reservations!! Im not sure if this is something new or maybe we misunderstood something when we read about it! I know third parties sell tickets for it but nothing beyond that! So I’m very sorry that we messed that up! I hope you have a great trip! From my current searches it seems like if you come early or on a low traffic day you should be able to get in just fine!!

Jiufen became famous because of the film "A City of Sadness" in 1989 was filmed there. It won the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival. The setting was during the time of 228 incident. "Hill of No Return" in 1993 was filmed in the surrounding area too. You can find trailers on KZbin. You can see how much has changed.... really "hill of no return". "Spirited Away" was brought up to promote the place years later. Ironically, the place was more like "Spirited Away" before it became famous in 1990s.
