i think it is an underrated album. it is a product of its time but it has a lot of amazing songs. it's not "the idiot", "lust for life", "new values", or even "post-pop depression" but it is still a solid album as a pop record. plus, iggy and bowie wrote some amazing songs on this record as they put an effort into making something commercial but something that has an edge.

Even at Ig's most commercial moment, he still beats everyone else! Keep rockin' Iggy!
@jarisalonen77883 жыл бұрын
Be it commercial or not, commercial art (?) can still be great! Believe me, Bryan Ferry told me that. Almost. But I guess he's not on your plate. What' s you want, tough boy, that Iggy had to live and sing Raw Power all of his life? For your pleasure? This commersalism - partly -helped Iggy to get his life more stabilaised. With enermous self - dicipline. Great song, for the mid- eighties, fluid video, great directing, visuals. And that solid performance, and the moves, by the man in the middle. Unique. So don' t be so hard one- eye/ ear communist about Iggy. Even, if you live in the USA. Or is it Detroit? Happy holidays everybody.
@jarisalonen77883 жыл бұрын
Auts! I may correct myself. I know that Iggy has performed Raw Power and other Stooges songs later in his career. And being great energetic performer at doing so. And The Stooges comeback gigs and album. They were powerful. If not in power, in the white house. Well, maybe Ted :Nugent is. At least, he's from Detroit. I did'nt want to make this all sound political, but I been drinkin' Budweiser beer in Greenland. Remember dear readers, Iggy Pop did a commercial album, and it partly saved his life. If you rough rockn' n rollers don' t believe me, listen to Party album - 81 Zombie Birdhouse 1982. The price of rock'n' roll life. Still, those albums have a appealing sad decadence. And all of you, my fellow Detroitians, Luis Ferdinant says to you : NO DANGER, BUT ONLY KISS OF OCEAN BREESE. JIUH!!

Iggy Pop's dancing is wild and graceful at the same time. Where Iggy gets his infinite stamina from is a mystery. He claims over & over that he never works out, but I find that too difficult to believe. How can anybody maintain the same weight & ripped physique since the late 1960s throughout his long career, along with his ultra-high-energy act without having to ever workout is absolutely implausible. I've never seen Iggy even breathe heavily once through all these years of getting stoned and running around. He makes Mick Jagger look like he's standing still through his act.

This is one of those songs, in my case at least, that I chanced to record from the radio back in the day (1991) but had no idea who the artist was. I didn’t discover Iggy Pop until several years later after buying the soundtrack to Trainspotting and it wasn’t until this year that I decided to google the lyrics to this song that kept popping up in my head, even though I hadn’t listening to my old cassette tape recording in over 20 years. Damn.

A true original who blazed his own path. Iggy's a real salt of the earth guy, but at the same time that rare artist. I have listened to a majority of his catalog, but yet keep finding new gems. I had the pleasure of seeing him live once, hands down the best concert I've ever been to. Many of his albums are very different in style, which I personally find pleasing.
