Shame there's not a full video of this, but audio will do. The live video footage of the passenger I have maintained for decades is likely the top 3 live performances ever captured. I describe it as a jaunty little 3 minute pop song turned into a 7 minute odyssey of a man teetering on the edge, bleeding into a Mike. Delighted to find it was early in the set and he carries on in the same spirit. More of an exorcism than a show. Pure and uncut. @op: tell us more about the cancellation? I'm something of an iggy historian, but not heard about that

I'm very surprised that no one's made any comments about this excellent gig. Wish i'd been there.

I never got the chance to experience first hand everything the 70’s and 80’s had to offer in terms of musical excellence (I’m 21) so I try to fill that void through fiendishly digging for these live tapes. I’m glad you like it

Impressive feat man. How did you come across this? I've been thirsting to hear all of thos gig since I saw the granada TV performance on a dodgy Camden Market vhs bootleg in the 80s

It is a very important gig for Manchester at a time when kids like Johnny Marr and John Squire were beginning their own rock n roll journeys

Is the full broadcast available for viewing? Sounds like a great performance ~ Bowie on keyboards, if its that 77 tour that is

Same tour, bur a but a bit later on I think. Bowie had bowed out and was replaced on keyboards by Scott Thurston, who played with the stooges in the early 70s, which gave him the privileged position of watching iggy have 2 apocalyptic meltdowns. There's a few bootlegs- maybe 20 songs out there with big dave on keyboards, some notable for the amazing backing vocals. As much respect as I have for Bowie, I still maintain saving iggy from death and obscurity is his fines achievement
