Do you think IGN purposely rates things wrong to get clicks? Or are they just genuinely incompetent? Oh and don't forget to subsribe!

I mean. How often have we all disagreed with a Roger Ebert review? He hated a lot of the movies many of us think of as classics now. Sometimes you hate a thing everyone else loves. That said, IGN is a faceless gestalt entity that feeds on ad money. Their reviews have become a joke. Stick to individual critics whose opinions you trust.

@heavysetmedia1904 unfortunately they're still one of the biggest reviewers I think, probably because of sheer quantity since they review anything and everything. @BSRJR I think that's their main problem, they have no accountability and no real "taste" in the way you don't know if the random reviewer they chose even likes the genre they're reviewing

I hate feminism. I also hate this shit vision of Penguin. Do you make videos acting as if all actual real comic fans like this show just to get clicks? Oswald Cobblepot is not a fucking Italian from New York and should NOT act or sound like one and pretending all fans like it is just being the opposite side of the same coin that woke is acting as if everyone must like their shit too.

What I enjoyed the most about this show was that I never really had any trepidation or hesitancy to get excited for it because I also thought The Batman was phenomenal. It's rare to go into a tv show from a comic book franchise and be able to just sit down and enjoy it without worrying about whether it will let you down or no (cite every marvel show, regardless of how good or bad it ended up being I always went into them with a certain level of hesitancy). I knew that Farrel's Penguin would be a fun watch and he wouldn't sign his name up to something that was going to be ultimately trash. I do however pray they don't do a season 2, it doesn't need it. Bring on Edward Cullens The Batman 2!

Psychopathy can be present in children at early stages in their childhood. There’s a case involving a boy of 10, in Atlanta if I’m correct, deleting his mom because she wouldn’t let him play video games. He shot her with her own gun and then hooked up his PlayStation. It came out that she had problems finding baby sitters for him even from her own family. The Lead Attorney covered in a video on his channel. ✍️Edit: For this reason ⬆️, I don’t make any excuses for Oswald Cobb. He’s always been the way he is. He lost no sleep over deleting his brothers.

pretty sure these boys being from the UK, they know about psychopathy in young children. Look up the murder of James Bulger. Absolutely terrible.

I dunno if calling something “The best comic book show” is fair when it basically has all the comic book taken out of it. It’s be like making a show about a Romanian guy with a blood disease who comes to London to do a shady land deal and steal someone’s wife, calling it Dracula and the saying “it’s the best vampire show” Taking absolutely nothing away from the quality of Penguin. I’m willing to admit how good it is. But I feel like it’s somewhat disingenuous to hold something up as the best version of a genre when it’s willingly discarded the vast majority of the ingredients of that genre. This is a crime show. Is it the best crime show? Maybe.
@zacharryedwin920528 күн бұрын
Yeah this is a very fair point, however I just interpret their use of the term 'comic book show' as meaning the subject matter and stimulus for the show is from the DC franchise rather than them meaning it as the genre of the show if that makes sense?

Tbf, batman comics like this usually are just crime comics. The only movie to feel like a true batman move was The Batman and that was because it felt like the comic the long Halloween, which is more crime based.
@julilu42329 күн бұрын
Thought it was average tbh - although not a massive comic book fan so I can understand why others would have enjoyed it more. just felt like it was taking itself far too seriously to be considered fun but was also too silly to really be taken seriously - also too many episodes imo. We didn't need all those flashbacks but because it's a show that's unsure whether it is serious or not it still needs to spell everything out to the audience.
@whenallelsfails2128 күн бұрын
"Unsure if it's serious" is hilarious to me. What comedy beats could you even reference if there were any? I never really laughed at any point personally. And it is barely a comic book show. Nothing in it is unrealistic or grandiose to the extreme. I guess the idea that it borrows from source material outside of your wheelhouse was a turn off for you. The only thing I got from this that was comic accurate was the way the mc is a scumbag.

@@whenallelsfails21 It's called the penguin about the penguin lol set in Gotham City - the whole Arkham/gangster plot is quite forced/stupid compared to say anything that's actually taken seriously. like it's batman world - make it fun instead of this pretty predictable gangster show which won't ever be taken seriously because it's characters are all so stupid/unrealistic (not a bad thing but the idea I need to understand the psychological/social political reasons for why the penguin is the way he is just ridiculous/very forced/cringe). Overall I think it's an alright show but very overrated. You don't need an 8 episode series explaining why the penguin is a bad guy lol. just make another batman ffs
@whenallelsfails2127 күн бұрын
@@julilu423 nah I just disagree. It's all set up pretty well and the characters follow their own motivations in believable ways. The story is engaging and enjoyable throughout. "It's batman world" leads me to believe you wouldn't have taken it seriously to begin with. Just because a comic character is the one comitting heinous crimes it's somehow goofy now? Lol ok. Some of the best batman stories take themselves incredibly seriously. The long Halloween, year one, and batman returns for example. And I've seen batman done a billion trillion times already, I'm tired of acting like he's the only character in these stories. He's made interesting by his rogues gallery. Taking a little time out of the mythos to flesh them out better does nothing but enhance the overall story imo.
@julilu42327 күн бұрын
@@whenallelsfails21 Well it's not an interesting portrayal of the batman world imo. There's so much stuff to play with and they just commit to the penguin being a discount Tony soprano for 8 hours - like I enjoyed bits but I doubt I'm ever gonna rewatch it tbh. I don't think it's terribly written - in fact it's a lot less boring than the recent batman film set in this world. I think he's a great director but I feel like a big issue about Reeves batman universe so far for me is that it lacks any of the fast paced thrills of Nolans stuff and also lacks a lot the charm of the Burton stuff. Everyone in this universe is so moody - maybe it's partly this trend with 'realism' in current media even in stuff that doesn't have to be 'realistic' to be good, it just comes across as completely charmless to me. But like I said I wouldn't describe myself as a big comic book guy so don't really have a problem with people enjoying it from that perspective - just don't understand why people are shocked and upset with someone rating it not that highly when yh I don't think it was that good lol.
@whenallelsfails2127 күн бұрын
@julilu423 Nolan's movies were completely sauceless. From the bland cinematography/strange line deliveries in the 3rd to the horrendous action throughout. The themes were cool sure, but overall outside of heath ledgers performance everything felt sterile and Gotham looked like Seattle at worst. Lamest Gotham by far. Tim buttons stuff was fun for the time and his Gotham portrayal was legendary an art deco mixed with Gothic nightmare scape. But I'm sorry Keaton is a hilarious choice for Bruce Wayne to me. Man looks like a male librarian. His suit goes from looking amazing to hilarious with the slightest lighting change. Pretty solid though. Calling it charmless is whatever man. I think Reeves has the sauce when it comes to cinematography and action. I think batinson is a perfect blend of angry and desperate for a fresh on the beat batman. His Bruce Wayne sucks hard but he hasn't figured that half of his life out yet so it's fine. I think this Gotham is perfect, this place NEEDS someone like batman. It's just a dirty wet and highly oppressive place that will eat it's inhabitants alive but from up in the sky it looks unassuming. Almost every single person in a position of power is corrupt which lends very well to the riddler and Batman's presence. The theme of batman inspiring fear in the criminals on the basis of him MAYBE being in the shadows is an amazing way to open the film. He goes from doing the batman schtick for himself (vengeance) to actually doing it for the people of Gotham by the end which isn't a character development we've seen done on screen before. And him and Selinas romance didn't make me want to leap out a window for once. Even without comics I've seen batman done a billion times. I don't need goofy yet charming like Burton and I don't need clinical and stale like Nolan. I just want a person passionate about these characters and Reeves is definitely that. You may not be excited to see where this interpretation goes in the future but boy am I happy the majority of people don't share your opinion. No offense.

Who cares what one reviewer thinks at IGN? Because this review was from one person, not the entire staff at IGN. Their reviews aren't done by consensus. I know that's not what these grifter channels want to hear, but it's true.
@burgunbeerd29 күн бұрын
You're misunderstanding Publisher vs Platform. That's like saying "HBO isn't responsible for The Penguin because it wasn't made by everyone at HBO" Our review of Penguin is indicative of our channel's views on Penguin even though not every member was in the video. IGN is a publisher and they only release one review per piece of media so that review represents the company. KZbin or Rotten Tomatoes is a platform so individuals reviews of The Penguin on said platform don't represent the thoughts of the platform as a whole.

@@minbari73But here is the thing, it is a collective. They rarely publicly disagree with what any one reviewer says until they don’t work at IGN anymore. Then you hear their real thoughts. The only time the rest of IGN disagreed with one of their own reviewers was when Scott Collura gave Man of Steel a positive rating saying it was great. They pretty much bullied him to take it down or write a retraction, which happened. It was only recently that one of their newer staff members called out the rest of IGN for this weird narrative they had for decades that Sonic was never good. Other than these two moments, IGN is a collective that never disagrees with each other.
