Bones12x2 They should've done 5 frets. Removing your pinky and shifting your hand seems like they're like it's dumbing it down. I think those two things play a larger role in feeling like your playing guitar than having different strings.

The reason why they have three and not four is because it has been noticed that a lot of fans who played the original rock band and guitar hero have trouble getting reaching to get that note.

JELIFISH19 I cannot agree MORE. Why on EARTH would you add one 'difficult aspect' while removing another? 4 really wouldn't have been enough. I saw my buddy falling by the wayside because he couldn't grasp the concept of switching his leading finger to red. well, that and alternate strumming. I do love the options for (power) chords though, but the 3 buttons is the final nail in the coffin of my guitar hero days.

Yeah rb has a lot of that stuff. Not usually for the on disc selection other than dream theater or testament (maybe some older stuff like dio or ozzy) but the dlc that they offer has a ridiculous amount of that stuff. I have a bunch of metal songs on my channel if you want to check it out.. dillinger escape plan, after the burial, August burns red, bmth, periphery, job for a cowboy, carnifex, andromeda, wretched, misery index, etc...

thisscreensucks I'm into lots of music games actually. Used to play a lot of the Guitar Hero games then Rock Band came out and I played that at parties a lot. THEN Rocksmith came out and all my friends started playing that. Sometimes I play Beat Hazard or Audiosurf, but that's irrelevant XD. I just personally don't see the challenge as much no having to actually move my hand anywhere on the guitar with this game. If they at least added one more set of two button I think it would be fair for all... I personally still think 5 with two buttons each.

For those of you not liking the change (that you haven't even experienced yet), that's just an outside judgement. +izzi Usually no, the pinky isn't very strong and can't really sustain long notes, using your pinky would be very hard for a real guitar, a cheap plastic guitar it's possible, but coming from a guitar player, I usually only use my first 3 fingers. sometimes for harder things i bring in my fourth, i never use the pinky

on basic you only use the strum bar. casual is only white notes (bottom, not black) and regular is when you switch between the two, and obviously advanced and veteran are harder than regular.

I think two sets of 3 frets at the top is good, but there should be the old style of 5 frets (green thru orange) down the neck for soloing. That way, more experienced players (playing on hard/expert) can get the new 6 buttons on the top for the basic verse/chorus's, but then have the 5 buttons down the neck for solos. Easy and medium could stick to the 6 buttons on the top...

I'm all up for it! Like he said in the video, it'll be like learning GH all over again which I appreciate because nowadays most games have similar buttons and so there's no learning. The new guitar is strange granted, but again I welcome a change. It's not a big deal about the compatibility... just use an old controller for the old games. The GH TV also looks very interesting and seems like a great way to release new/trending content regularly. Although GH claim the game to be "realistic" I think we all need to forget about that... If you want realism then buy a real guitar. I think it's fair to say most people buy the game for the songs, unless you're a fan of the series so I hope the tracks they choose are up to standards!

I'm gonna miss the sliding. This might sound dumb but after playing GH for a long time your hand starts to get sweaty and it's nice to move up and down between positions to give your hand a little air so your palm doesn't stick to the back of the neck, and also so your fingers don't cramp up. While it is exciting trying to learn GH from the basics again, I can't help but feel like (from how it looks) you're playing in a very small surface area without much movement. For chord songs it should feel better, but I still don't see how solos can still be epic without the sliding.

I don't understand these Rocksmith fanboys in the comments. Rocksmith may be a "game," but it doesn't have that arcade feel like Guitar Hero and Rock Band games do. Rocksmith is USELESS when you own guitar tab editors like Guitar Pro 3/4/5/6, Power Tab Editor, or TuxGuitar. But rocksmith does have an arcade function. The newer one has guitarcade, which is arcade games based on different guitar techniques, some of which can be played by anyone.

yeahnuld dude, guitar hero is more for the casual audience. Guitar hero and rock band was made to have fun with your friends and family. Rocksmith is more for learning to ACTUALLY play the guitar, i personally love gh because it's just fun and i have no interest in learning how to play the guitar, thats why rocksmith doesnt appeal to me. Gh/Rb=Casual/easy and fun. Rocksmith=Hardcore/learn to play.

Seeing this, I'm increasingly happy I switched over to Rocksmith. The 2014 version kicks Guitar Hero and Rock Band's asses. Don't get me wrong, I love/loved Guitar Hero and if you have no further ambitions, that's off course fine, but if you're even only half serious with wanting the real feeling combined with console gaming, check Rocksmith out. It really is Guitar Hero with a real guitar. It WILL teach you to play.

hopefully they will ad custom songs again, like GH3 for pc, where people made GH songs and posted it on internet so people can downloade. as for the buttons they can be fun, but i think it indeed to be very hard on the hardest difficulty

At least Harmonix (The original Guitar Hero creators) are making the new Rock Band backwards compatible with legacy hardware and letting you import all of your Rock Band DLC for free.

Good Guitar Hero players are the ones that play it more. Bad players don't play much. In the old games good players use pinky finger. This new game doesn't require the pinky even on the hardest difficulty. Good players + No pinky = No play. Bad players will rule because they don't have to use pinky an good players will be playing GH 1,2,3, and world tour. This game will suck Illuminati ass confirmed.

People are complaining about the new guitar layout. I actually played the game for a bit and it isn't bad at all. It isn't hard to pick up but it is hard to get good at it. I actually love it cause I play real guitar and it feels more like playing a real guitar than the old guitar hero. As for the people complain about no drums, you have to admit the GH drums were crap, broke on me after a few weeks. Never really played the drums and this GH Live is having mic, so the idea of taking the game back to its' roots is fine with me. If you want drums go play rock BAND, if you don't care about drums like me then GUITAR hero is great.

it would make more sense for the user interface of the guitar to be left to right sliding like u would read measures of notes on a page of music. this could have been so much more complex. even intriguingly educational on learning how to play

Rock Band 4 is supposedly going to allow you to regain your old dlc from previous games.

If anything they need to have 5 buttons on the bottom and 5 on top. At least 4. The pinky isnt even being used. This game so far looks like a complete let down and as an avid fan of the Guitar Hero's of the past, it looks like I'll be making the move to Rock Band.
