Soooooo Now i've finished Veilguard and pretty much all sidequests. I'm 36 years old and fell in love with RPGs when I first played Shining Force on Sega. I have played an unhealthy amount of Origins and Inquisition. So what i'm going to write is NOT someone elses words. I actually did my best do NOT read or listen to anything about Veilguard, just so I played it with my own eyes and thoughts. Just to get it out of the way As an Dragon Age game : 4/10 As an Generic RPG : 5-6/10 From when I started the game I fwlt that something was wrong, but I just couldn't understand what. But it was then when I saw it. Dragon Age is an DARK fantasy. They have built up with the other games that it an world of Demon, Monsters, Blood Magic, Slavery, Prejudice, Torture, Blood and Death. There's also good things, but it's always had this darkness looming over the world. While Veilguard seems to clean and nice. I had to tripple check so I didn't toggle of the blood. But there where no blood on the characters nor weapons. The cityelves ran shops in pretty much any town. The same elves that was considered as trash. The same elves that was experimented upon and used in god knows what. I got the same tone from the game as from the Xena or Hercules TV Shows. The "wow moments" felt so forced so at one point I actually laught when Rook said wow. But when we have an "Dragon Hunter" that doesn't hunt dragons or when one party member tells another that It isn't allowed to smell othera blood without consent. Made me lose faith. Some party dialogues was really good, but the bad ones sadly overshadowed the good ones. This is an PG Dragon Age. It's made not to please those that not only play the games, but also grasp the lore while playing the games. Yeah im an Lore guy. I could write down so much more, but I'll stay here. This would fare alot better as an generic RPG then being the next part and continuation of Dragon Age.

This PS5 generation sucks, simple as it is, the overall quality declined a lot. There are some outliers like BG3, ReFantazio, Psychonauts 2, etc.. indies remain solid (Mullet Madjack sustain the high quality of previous years), but the double and triple A segments in general, they are struggling, this DA game is in development for 5+ years and this was the best they could offer, lol a more flashy Kingdoms of Amalur with zero substance or any sign of intelligence

The upside here is this game didn't, the downside is that the continued narrative thing is what made the series go from good to legendary, as people were excited to see THEIR GAME. Not just a continuation to Dragon age, but a continuation of their story specifically.

I mean i think the game is an embarassment and this review is funny as much as the next guy but are you guys aware that there is no real way to actually know the number of dislikes right ? the extension just makes it up. They take the like/dislike ratio from their small community of users and try to extrapolate it to the video. Might work somewhat ok for your usual videos but for controversial stuff like that with a lot of extreme values it's just going to make a hugely inaccurate estimate.
