I completed the game 2 times, and I never had a single bug on ps4. The combat leaves nothing to be desired, and is actually more detailed than ign gives it credit for with enemies interacting with the environments when shot by for example collapsing down surfaces, or taking a very satisfying tumble over a couch when gunned down. This remake is overall incredibly detailed and is easily a 9/10 at least.

I loved the original Mafia (even if it can get a little clunky at times), Mafia II was a great narrative experience, and I even liked Mafia III as an action-packed revenge thriller with some catchy post-Vietnam era music. This game was fantastic. Great story remake, the map is beautiful and the music is the absolute best of the mafia series. They really took their time finding the right songs that fit the radio of the 1930s.

I'm still extremely disappointed with Mafia 3. It wasn't a bad game but Hangar 13 ruined the franchise for me. They did NOT need to make a game about black history during the 60s in a Mafia game, I'm not saying that's a bad thing at all but they could have made a totally new game for that. I mean they give you the option to kill off Vito, WTF! that pissed me off beyond belief. That means if Mafia 4 ever comes out Vito won't be in it. Mafia 3 should have picked up where Mafia 2 left off with Vito and Galante driving away and Joe being taken away and it starts with Vito and Galante in a new city. Then Galante dies and Vito takes his spot or he takes the spot of Falcone. Later on while Vito is the boss, Joe shows up and becomes his right hand man since Vito was basically his right hand man in Mafia 2. Hangar 13 killed the franchise when it could have been something much more. They did do an amazing job on the remakes though.

The game is near perfect! I’ve loved the trilogy ! Especially the original Mafia and Mafia 2 ! The story for Mafia Definitive Edition is great , But the Free ride in my opinion should be fully Explored!!! Your team has created the entire world ! Ofcourse car driving & shooting is fun..but the pedestrians don’t fight back (like in Mafia 2 & 3) The train is inaccessible, and what if there was a DLC of GangWars which put free ride mode into the world of gang turfs and ability to use Sam and the squad to drive-by & get into gang wars with known Morello hangouts and other gangs., or freely Rob Banks & stores How cool would it be , to just freely recruit some guys possibly (Sam & paulie ) but anyone and go raise hell in the city , or destroy other bootleggers shipments , ect... There is so much potential !!! Or a cool DLC would be the detectives perspective , Following the case ,and getting into situations of dealing with a department that’s under Morellos payroll. Trying to be an honest cop in a grimey corrupted city and finding a way to have to almost join Salileri in order to take down the corrupt members of the city , and it could all be tied into the “hit mission from the old prison “ And even have transitions of the cafe confessions with Tommy When the detective says he’s been “trying to catch the plain crash suspects for years !“ All of it !!!

Apparently Mafia 4 will be a prequel, they're not moving up the timeline. They had plans to set it in 1970s Las Vegas but found licencing the music too costly. I'd prefer 1920s Chicago (a more accurate version, not Lost Heaven) or New Jersey, go for a Boardwalk Empire style story.

I think that all of these positive reviews of the game come from people who are just simply blinded by their own nostalgia. The game is a glitchy mess, and just when I started to actually enjoy it, the game ended.. It is a nice Remake though.

I never played the original but Mafia Definitive Edition really gave me the same sense of childlike joy that Mafia 2 brought me a decade ago.

Having covered the original game for my gaming channel awhile back, I am really hoping things like the health system and checkpoints have been refined. The PS2 version was a huge exercise in frustration, mainly because of these issues. I did manage to beat the title, by some miracle anyway. I remain optimistic this will be so much better.

I wish it was more Assassins Creed Origins/Odyssey feel type. Huge map & you get the freedom to do missions & side missions throughout the map & explore. Vs you either do missions or just free roam. Why have two? Just merge them together
