Ignatius of Loyola was onto something, wasn't he?

This is a virtue we must constantly self examine in ourselves. Sadly, pride has so many clever hiding places in my soul that unless I daily practice self denial I may only ever have the appearance of virtue. Good provoking thoughts! Thank you

We can probably deceive ourselves that we are growing in humility. "Oh Humility, that bashful dame, she disappears the instant I whisper her name!"

Wow! That’s powerful John - the mystery keeps unfolding! Many years ago I wrote a song/poem ‘though none go with me still will I follow’ 🎵50yrs later still no one wants to know and I feel somewhat misunderstood and invisible in the institution. Bless your journey

It is a grace to grow in such ways.

Been thinking along these same lines as of late. What does it take to totally release to the image of the Christ? What does that look like? Thank you so much for adding clarity. Blessings and peace.

This kind of humility only comes with true spiritual maturity, which means an emptying not only of the things of self, but the artifice of all things worldly. For what seems good to a man so often is an abomination before God. Perhaps the greatest example of this (other than the Lord Himself) was the apostle Paul: "We are fools for Christ's sake, but you (the Corinthians) are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are distinguished, but we are dishonored" (1 Cor. 4:10). Foolishness in human eyes (i.e. the wisdom of this world) is the stamp of the true Slave of Christ. Thank you Brother.
