I love it John! Thanks for this! You know, another thing that came to mind as you were listing the things that can pull us up: saints, mystics, holy fools, and scripture, was the idea of returning to our sacred texts In the state of a second nievete. I don't remember offhand who it was that originally discussed that, but I think I first encountered it in one of Brian Zahnd's books (If memory serves me correctly, it was a fairly recent one on deconstruction). At any rate, as I understand it, a second nievete reads scripture through a childlike sense of wonder, but the difference is that it has already gone through the dark night of the soul, no longer limited to a simplistic understanding of inspiration. It can sit with the critical theorists but is still able to find rest for the soul.

Thank you! Yes, the idea of a "second simplicity" has shown up in several different ways with different people. Thank you for your reply. Have a great day!

That was great John. Good to see this diagrammed out in detail. It is important to be able to identify and understand those gravity points. BTW, did you use the Zoom white board or is it another tool you are using to draw it out? It is a great teaching tool. (And nice to meet your parents 😂

Glad you enjoyed it, Steve! I figured out a way to use my iPad and its stylus to help draw out diagrams. I realized that I had talked enough people through this diagram that I should probably just go ahead and make a video of it! Have a great upcoming week!

Can mature leaders pull people up?
@JohnChaffeeTalksАй бұрын
Absolutely! In mathematics, there is the principle of a "strange attractor." When one agent rises up, it naturally pulls some of those around them up, similar to a magnet. They can't affect everyone, and leaders have more of a range than others, but if you get enough leadership rising up, then you hit a tipping point, and the whole will rise up. Jesus rose from within Judaism and elevated others up with him into something new: Christianity.
