I want to thank you for sharing. I had been a fundamentalist with a strong emphasis on dominion theology( purple, red and blue) when I began to see the parables and actions of inclusion of Jesus calling me to be more respectful to the outcast ( those outside the tribal bubble or system of laws) How do you love your enemies? How do you befriend the outlaw when you are afraid to meet with them let alone speak to them? To top it off how do you overcome the church’s bubble culture that discourages you to hang out with the outcasts? How can you be free to listen to their perspective….their story in order to really gain their trust and befriend them. How do you genuinely connect with anyone if you are fearful? How do you love your perceived enemies? One of my biggest struggles has been trying to learn to be more inclusive of our select outcasts in the presence of old Christian Friends who are deeply blue, red and purple. I tried to explain to them how I see the parables and actions of Jesus as calling us to be loving to the outsider. I recalled Jesus saying ,”whatever you do to the least of them you do to me trying to show them how much Jesus identified with the outcast. I even recalled Jesus saying on the cross, “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they are doing”. Through the lesson on Spiral dynamics you have confirmed my understanding that God wants us to be open and loving to all people wherever they are on their journey without favoritism or prejudice… even Red, Purple, Blue Orange or Green Christians as well as the so called “outcasts”. I feel pretty alone right now. My current church is pretty inclusive to the poor and secular genzie. Has said no to political discussions and conversations, not wanting to alienate anyone unnecessarily. I don’t see leadership having an easy time of managing it in this volatile world. However, I personally feel isolated ready to burst, trying to manage the internal struggle I am having with managing the relations I have with others, seeing red flags everywhere. Boy, would I like to be turquoise and have a perspective that could transcend these controversies. I must depend on Christ and the spirit within me to recognize life is hidden in Christ to all be revealed at the proper time. Thank you for your message that helped open my perspective.

Thank you for such a nice long reply. I am glad that the video seems to have struck a chord with you. The framework of spiral dynamics completely changed the way I understood the world and faith and myself and society and so much more. When I have the chance to teach it in seminary classes, it is always eye-opening for people. Stay on the path, keep growing, all will be well.
