Cool guessing game! Another way to tell the 71 and 72 from a 70 is the side egg crate grilles, 70's are unique, the vertical surfaces are painted and the horizontal surfaces are chrome the 71 and 72 are chrome on the vertical and horizontal. AWESOME show! Thanks so much for sharing it with us and making it fun!👍

I’ve heard that one year had chrome vertical lines and another had horizontal chrome lines. But since most of these cars have been restored (actually, OVER-restored in lots of cases), and/or modified, it’s tough to make educated guesses. This show was a great one. Very well organized with great cars in attendance. Next weekend is the Corvette show here in Ocala, so stay tuned for a video and photos of that one. Kruzer, yes it has been documented that some late 70s used the revised 71 grill with screw holes. In fact some had one of each. All 3 years 70-72 grill have the same part number. But the ones that came on the 71s had the orange fiber optic lens added. No fiber optics feature on 72s.

The next Corvette Car Show is next Saturday in Ocala (flyer in the Community section) by the Corvette Club of Marion County, and I think the Tampa Bay Vette Club holds their Corvette & Chevy show once a year, but you can check their website for details. should have checked the Red 70 LT1 roadster for J56 Front brake calipers, the only LT1's factory equipped with a catch tank are ZR1's. You are correct the 70 Donnybrook green car should have no screws in the grille lower bar, highly unlikely the car is a real LT1 as none were equipped with AIR COND until late spring 1972. LT1's were also never available with automatics. I have 2 LT1's both original paint coupes. One is a NCRS Top Flight & 3 star survivor the other was recently purchased.

The green 70 LT1 is not an LT1. No AC in 70. No automatic available with LT1. Tach is incorrect. Needs 6500 redline. As mentioned incorrect egg crate grills but not a biggy with that.

A St Louis plant supervisor was fired in 1971 for placing an order for a base engine A/C and Automatic convertible and then secretly taking an LT-1 engine and swapping carb, intake and valve covers then restamping it with the base engine codes and having it installed in his car on the assembly line. His devious plan fell apart when a manager decided to take the car home for the weekend for evaluation and soon figured out this was no L48. Damn just think if it would have worked, definitely would have been the only A/C and Automatic LT-1 ever. Oh well. 😀

You beat me to it. I was going to post the same thing. I believe the A/C was offered with the hydraulic lifter (lower HP and RPM) LT1s in the subsequent year or two. Did you notice the NCRS sticker on the car? 🙂

Chevy built the Z/28 with the automatic (same LT-1 engine) but Corvette said no and required one of the three different 4-speed manuals available be ordered. So any automatic LT-1 would be dealer or owner built.
