Wow, the SA motorcycle licence process is a bit of an eye opener. In Australia, it's insane now. First, it's a two-day course to do your Ls. You'll need a driving license or an L driving licence too. It's a theory test, a range-based test and a final on-the-road bit. Then some months later there's a 'check ride' which is basically the licence test on the road. A month after you can take the real test. This is a sequence of five sections where you are given directions by the examiner and they follow behind. All up, it costs about AU$1000 to do it assuming you pass all of it, and half don't.

Im 40 and i was looking at these 3 bikes and the honda cb300 and cb500. After riding 23 different bikes in this class the ktm 390 duke was the best pick and fit and i love it. Glad i went with it. In second was the ducati. I just could not justify an extra 3000.00 u.s.....
@F4Effort6 жыл бұрын
I looked into many smaller bikes before ultimately deciding on the KTM 390 Duke. Bought it new (although I'm pretty sure I overpaid the dealer) and I am absolutely thrilled with it, although I do have a few minor problems with it I'll get to in a minute. For new bikes at this pricepoint and class, none of these other bikes are close to the level of technology that's on the KTM, with the TFT display, gear indicator, adjustable ABS, adjustable clutch and brake levers, KTM's in house WP suspension, the LED lights, and throttle by wire. You can even get it with KTM's MyRide, which lets you pair your phone between the bike and your helmet for audio. Plus just my two cents I think it's also by far the best looking, especially in white. This is admitedly the smallest bike I have owned so far, but I was impressed with the punch it had if you really give it gas. Now, to be honest though, I do have some minor complaints. My clutch lever can be moved a little bit up and down while pulling it in, the outside point moves maybe half an inch in total travel. It doesn't really affect operation, but I certainly noticed it when I first started riding. Maybe it's something that can be fixed just by tightening a screw. The second thing is that while both indicators do work, the green arrow on the dash doesn't always come on when the switch is pushed one way or the other. This seems to happen more frequently with the right hand blinkers. Third is the oil pressure light. It will stay on for several seconds after the bike is started when it's already been warmed up (doesn't happen on cold starts), sometimes even for a second or two after I back out of my spot and put it into gear, although I have yet to have it stay on for more than 20 seconds after starting the engine. Last is the ABS light. It, like the oil pressure light, will stay on for a few seconds after the engine is started while already warm, although it shuts off once the bike is put into gear. Have yet to have it come on while I am riding. I personally see these as small issues, and since the bike has less than 200 miles on it, I am not yet concerned about them. One thing I am planning on doing to the bike is, when it comes time to get a new chain/sprockets, gearing it to be a bit taller. I realize that it's a small bike and more shifting will be needed than what I'm used to, coming off a ZX6R, but I personally think that 5th gear for 45mph to stay under 8K rpm is a little rediculous. I asked the dealership about this and they told me that it would not void the KTM warranty, they said "as long as it doesn't have an aftermarket air filter or a non-Akrapovic exhaust". This got way longer than I was planning, so I hope this helped anyone looking at the KTM here, and no matter what you end up getting, remember to enjoy it and pass your test!

First of all scrambler is just not made in Italy. That is half the story. You forgot to add Thailand. Secondly, understand the term 'third world countries',get educated and stop being racist. And for the people who are asking Indians to be ready for some humor. Why don't you understand the fact that India has stepped in the performance motorcycle segment. Give it some time and we will see the quality issue as well. And FYI, if the bikes manufactures in India lacks quality, then don't buy it, as simple as that. But remember that budget cut decisions were made by your beloved ducati, bmw ,etc and not by Indians.

I'm on my way to get on the 390 Adv now, and certainly, on paper, it's quite an exciting proposition.

The most important thing overall is reliability, there are big big big questions concerning the KTM, there are concerns about the maintenance requirements of the Duke at Sea, and then there are the exorbitant parts and labor cost for the BMW. @@johnDukemaster I know of many many people who bought a KTM motorcycle and have gotten the middle finger when it comes to warranty service from ktm. I was in the process of buying a ktm, when the dealer told me that they had to remove the fuel pump from the bike and give it to another customer. I asked when that fuel pump would be back, he told me he didn't know. KTM sucks when it comes to warranty. It sucks when it comes to reliability. Brand new engines should not go bad.

I sorta kinda don't think the Ducati should have been in this round up with the KTM and BMW. They are in the 300cc category whereas the Ducati is in the 400cc. Granted there isn't really a 400cc category per say. However, I think instead of the Ducati a Honda CB300F should have been there. And yes, it's not as sexy as the Beemer and KTM, but it's a 300cc category bike.

xfx vizzi xfx hey iam proud because we are growing faster than any other developing country in the world. Bajaj is the Indian company who owns more than 49 percent of shares in KTM and so it's manufactured in India to keep prices low. But that doesn't means it's quality is not good. We are the only country who launches satellites of country like USA, France, Russia, UK and many countries, we launch it in such a less expense simultaneously with great accuracy and engineering. It's all working up fine there. I only wanted to say that made in INDIA doesn't mean that quality is not great.
@superwario647 жыл бұрын
Raghav46 forza vale the quality has gone down alot. india is a retarded place.. why? they focus on making more nuclear weapons and satellites while millions of people are starving, homeless,polluted cities rivers. indians dont even obey the damn traffic rules,the roads are shit. this is not what i call "developing" . first yall should focus on cleaning up the place

So I've been waiting for you guys to pop up this review you guys did of these three bikes. Now as much as I think these three bikes will all serve a purpose, they aren't really up to scratch, are they? I mean as in what you get. You get three bikes which caters to a certain person. There aren't any super bike variants, no dual purpose variants, unless you mention the Kawasaki Versus X. Anyways, what I would have liked to see in this perticular comparison, was that you guys added the iconic 400s. Sure, the world has moved on to the bigger bikes and now it seems like small is once again making a comeback, especially the 400s, well 300s to 400s. So why didn't you guys compare these bikes to the CBR400 and GSXR 400 and VFR400 and all those classics? Sure, I know parts and price and so on can be a major factor but just as the bike alone, what you can get at that cc, I think the bikes 20 years ago, still blow these new bikes out of the water. The Cbr was known for handling. The VFR for so much power out of such a small engine. All the stuff you want from bigger bikes but for some reason can't ride. The sound of a four cylinder. Fairings, sporty look, sporty riding style and so forth. Well, I would just have liked to see that but now probably too late for that. O well. Was fun watching nonetheless.
