I used to have one years ago. He was a comedian. If you walked into my house with a hat on, he would knock it off your head. When I joined the military, I had to give him to a reptile farm that gave him a wonderful home. My mother could not care for him. When I came home, 2 years later.. I went to go see him. He remembered me, I couldn't believe he remembered me. He ran to me like a pup. He was such a sweetheart.

Not quite sure he's that mature, I have a 20 year old iguana and she looked a lot like "him" when she was 2-3 years old, and some iguanas (especially males) can get quite aggresive during breeding season. His iguana looks more like a female to me, judging by her jaw. That said, not all iguanas get aggresive, mine has never bitten me in all the years I've had her, though she can be aggresive with strangers when they approach her, especially little girls.

I've seen plenty of these videos where i didn't feel like reptiles were that affectionate, Buddy seems a lot different, he looks affectionate and his kisses look so gentle and deliberate. What a beautiful boy.

Iguanas are a living example of why we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. While most people consider cats and dogs cute and cuddly, reptiles not so much. Buddy demonstrates how he really does appreciate his dad and enjoy interacting with his diverse family.

We reptiles 🦎 owners KNOWS IT FOR AGES but no one would believe that an lizard can be so affectionate ❤️ my ones is lovely and friendly and very attached to me just like Buddy. BUT own an lizard is not cheap its definitely not a pet for kids or for those short on money. LIZARDS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE. Energy bills over 1K pro year a cage one cage one thousand euros I pay each year 3 cages 3 thousands euros a year. Plus vet checks. A good well loved lizard will cost you in one year about two and half thousand euros without no joke. I own mines I know it. Buddy for sure has his cost maintenance as well. But the love they give us is totally worth.

We’ve had two iguanas in our household (at different times). The second was a rescue. We transformed a bedroom into their habitat. They’re amazing but quite expensive to properly maintain. Vet bills especially, but it’s something that you gotta do. Loved them both, so much. Just like a dog or cat, they wanna sleep with you and climb on you (seeking the highest point…your head). They go to the kitchen when they’re hungry. Males can become aggressive when the come into their mating season…so beware. They whip that tail and let me tell you, it’s a weapon!

I took my boy to the vet for an abscess on his jaw. The tech asked if I wanted her to file his nails down while waiting for the Dr. I said ok and held him for her. She apparently got too close with file and he whipped her good with his tail! He wouldn't even let her touch him when the dr came in. Another tech had to come in.

@@gonzo3954 Yes, they can be very particular about people; facial features, dark or light hair, scents, if they wear glasses…even certain clothing colors. Our first iguana was adorable but a real spoiled brat. We catered to his every desire and he knew it. Our second iguana was more docile and easy going. Just the sweetest guy who wanted to be cuddled. We never filed their nails.

Thanks for posting this on my birthday! He reminds me of my Mikey who has passed away a while ago. He too looked like he was smiling, he gave me kisses, came when you called him, and he knew I was "mommy" and my husband was "daddy." He was my son and I still miss him. That last cage should suffice especially since he really has the whole house too. God bless him, you're a great daddy.

100% right. I owned a green iguana and took good care of him until he died at 14 yrs. During his breeding season he was moody as hell. Had multiple stitches because of him biting. Get a bearded dragon or an Argentine tegu.
