I've been playing Mairsil for a long time! It's interesting to see another person's brew. Mike's playstyle is like.....completely opposite of my own. At 14:40, I'm very surprised that Mike discarded the Buried Alive, which is quite possibly the best tutor available for Mairsil. He had enough mana on his turn after the Cyclonic Rift to cast the BA and then bounce Mairsil with the Arcanis ability, setting up for a very spicy next turn. He instead hard-casted the Skittles, which I don't think I've ever seen a Mairsil player do before. Playing ToR against a group slug/draw punish deck was an interesting play. It seemed like Mike had plenty of card draw from the Arcanis ability because nobody was trying hard to interact with Mairsil. ToR doesn't stop Mike from losing life from anything except the Underworld Dreams, which was fairly negligible. Also, just......casting the Staff of Domination without an infinite mana combo after losing almost all of his life? That's such a weird play for a Mairsil deck. It's almost always correct to exile Staff with a cage counter so you have a cheap source of untaps. It felt like Mike wasn't really trying to do "Mairsil stuff" like blinking him or even just bouncing and recasting him. He had a lot of tutors and draws this game so it seems like he absolutely could have found an Aetherling, which is almost always the correct line in Mairsil. At that point it becomes extremely hard to interact with Marsil and you can just start putting loads of powerful cards in exile with cage counters. Mike had so much setup opportunity and yet very little "Mairsil stuff" happened. Also, casting a Windfall when he's by far the most ahead on cards? Absolute madness.....

Not that matters that much with the outcome of the turn, but just as a ruling check, the token been created by Chatterfang's replacement effect at 30:07 enters also tapped, as the Shambler's token says it enters tapped, and yes, the one extra squirrel of Chatterfang will enter tapped as well, it's on Chatterfang rulings notes.

Poor David hasn't won a game yet, someday I know he'll bring the heat and pull out a win! I did notice that Barry also threw the game since he could've buffed his chatterfang by one by sacrificing his squirrel to buff chatterfang by 1 making it 4 power, Leo loses 1 life from token leaving, takes 4 from forestwalk and then Barry could've sacrificed his faerie to the altar for the win. But reguardless I love watching all of these guys play magic, it's always alot of fun! :)

One of my pet decks is a glass cannon Mairsil which depends entirely on going infinite with the Commander... It kinda sucks, but I love my deck (Pun intended).

My Mairsil deck is fairly similar in it's "commander-centric" nature but it feels super resilient. You get great resistance to removal (especially Aetherling), you don't really need to cast many spells once Mairsil gets a couple of good cards in the cage, and you can easily do stuff like Nev's Disk and any blink/regenerate/indestructible effect to create a mean board lock. A lot of cards that enable absolutely filthy stuff for Mairsil (like Oriq Loremage or Pack Rat) are also super affordable, meaning you don't have to break the bank building your deck unless you just want a very optimized tutor and land base.

12:25 I'm pretty sure this is out of order. When you cast a spell that has the word target on it you have to choose your targets upon cast. Same goes for an ability with the word target. Before anything else in the game is supposed to happen the player who cast the spell or activated the ability has to choose their targets/modes. This is why spells like surge of salvation work so well, because you're giving your permanents hexproof at instant speed once they've already been declared the target of a spell/ ability.

It pulls an extra land out of your deck instead of hitting a regular land drop, which means your less likely to draw a land on subsequent turns. In mid-late game, drawing a land isn't always as helpful as drawing a spell you can cast
