Great video! I particularly love these games when everyone look scary at a moment, and do interesting things, get their engines going, etc. The pre-games and rule-0 conversation is a habit that I should have more often, it’s a great way to spend a good time on games!

I only recently got into magic maybe a year or so ago. I don’t remember which set came out back then. However I purchased a Zendikar bundle phat pack and been hooked ever since. I will say that this video was one of the most enjoyable for me based off the amazing friendly environment displayed by the players and the great explanations of rule 0 and pre-game. I really appreciate the amazing things this channel does for the game of Magic and hope that it continues to show people how amazing this game really is! Love the work and cannot wait for many more episodes to come!

Zack dying to a huge single shot because _they know what that decks does…_ And that allows someone else get the game for free. Relatable.

Yeah, the attacking cause you know what a deck does is actually very stupid. He did have a combo piece out though
@TopMuffin72 жыл бұрын
The reality is Zack had the most potential to stop David from running out and winning. He's playing white so he has access to premium removal including wipes. You can also assume he has plenty of etb creatures that can detain/exile/destroy his commanders. Voltron decks can't deal with targeted removal unless they get access to hexproof. Any destroy creature etb/swords/path effects immediately blows the shark player out. Lynch wheeling into ancient tomb jewled lotus scapeshift was just a sheer act of god lol.
@IamtheTolle2 жыл бұрын
That's the danger of Wheel. Even in decks that gain advantage from the drawing and discarding, you've given 21 cards to your opponents.

I liked your explication of the distinction between Rule 0 and pregame convos. I have to say, though, if anyone ever said they refuse to play with proxies, I’d tell them to leave the table or deal with it.
@mccryx2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Proxies should never be rejected. I do, however, agree with being able to veto a non-commander commander.
@andrewroy56772 жыл бұрын
If a deck would be valued at $4000 and has $1.25 worth of cards in it, then there's a problem. I don't proxy anything (and run no dual lands or cradles). If you own one, you can proxy, if you're trying it out with intent to purchase if it works out, proxy away! If you're building a super OP deck with nothing but proxies, that's when I have an issue. My carefully curated list of cards that I own is no match for your printer. And if you're going to proxy, buy the proxy or print it out (like Lynch did)- scribbling on a basic doesn't cut it.
@joshuagreen89952 жыл бұрын
I'd agree, aside from the time where my opponent said "I've only proxied 10 cards" and it were those 10 cards that won him the game. Proxies are fine if everyone accepts them and has a fair chance to utilize a fair amount of proxy for the deck. It really goes along with pregame discussions about power levels and what decks people want to play at the table and what to expect so that people feel the game is fair.
@therealax62 жыл бұрын
@@andrewroy5677 So you think that a super OP deck worth 4,000 USD is OK, but a super OP deck worth 1.25 USD is the problem? That's an interesting take. People have wildly different amounts of disposable income; price is simply not a useful limitation (unless you set a max budget for the table). Proxies are a solution to availability (which in turn might be an income problem), not to power level - if you have a power level problem, that's what the pre-game discussion should be addressing. Unless you really want to battle on wallet power, but I'd say most people play the game to have fun, not to show off their disposable income.
@andrewroy56772 жыл бұрын
@therealax6 I don't run proxies, not against them, but for sure against ABUSE of proxies. If you are on a budget, build budget - you can build inexpensive and powerful decks. If you have a low amount of disposable income to commit to buying cards, and you're running a 5 color deck with sliver queen as your commander and 10 dual lands (all proxies) then it's abuse of proxies. Bottom line is I don't want to see a legitimate curated deck where someone is doing the best they can with what they can afford beaten like a red- headed stepchild by a proxy tribal deck. (No offense to any red-headed stepchildren intended).

Not gonna lie. Destroying my swamp that early after all of those other targets, I would aggro TF out of that kid. They gotta learn sometime.
@joshuagreen89952 жыл бұрын
I agree that you need to learn the consequences of a play like that at some point in time. There are plenty of times where someone is just bullying me arbitrarily at the table so I'll take them down with me. In spite me telling them that if they waste resources on me, the others will just kill them. The only time I'd advocate for very hard targeting would be if you know the strength of the player's deck and know they can win unfairly/out of nowhere. I know a guy who'd build super powerful combo decks that would just win off like 5 mana and two combo pieces regularly. The lack of pregame conversation meant that he'd often win due to a lack of balance in the deck builds. This led to him being exclusively targeted throughout all the games to prevent him from comboing and he'd constantly complain about it. But the second the pressure was let up on him or not applied enough, boom combo and win often through infinite loops. It led to very toxic games and atmospheres simply because there wasn't good communication about deck balance and what everyone wanted to play.
@therealax62 жыл бұрын
Are you sure that was a bad choice? Taking someone down from 6 mana to 5 is almost irrelevant; going down from 2 to 1 is a blowout. It would've been a very different game if she had managed to hit a land drop and ramp that turn. (He had no way to know she didn't have a third land...)
