It's amazing to me that you're very aware of your mental state. Typically, media portrays people who have schizophrenia as severely impaired and unaware individual. I hope you find a standing where you can live comfortably while coping the with constant daily journey you have to face. I wish you the best.

I mean looking at statistics there a lot of schizophreniacs DON'T actually know that they're ill, or at least not aware to some of their symptoms, thats the reason media generally portrays them as such.

Brittany Santiago Exactly,I feel like crap when I see people speaking on it like we crazy in Instagram specially when they start commenting on someone's mental issues,it hurts me so bad how people think is easy to deal with this..To be aware of it and still not be able to know when something is real or not plus anxiety/panic attacks,deep depression, OCD and what not (speaking from my side)😕😕😕 I wish some people could put same effort on trying to understand us the same way they put all that effort in to judging us.

I knew somebody that had schizophrenia. He was completely aware he had it and was a very nice man, but I later on saw him at his worst, started thinking everyone was watching what he was doing and judging him, became extremely hardcore clean oriented. He once even got mad at me over something that never happened. I never held anything against him as I know it wasn't his fault, but at his worst he made me nervous because I never knew what was going through his head.

Brittany Santiago I would have thought the exact same thing because my brother is schizo effective and he is not this lucid, BUT, 3 of his/my friends are also schizo effective and 2 of them are very lucid and can describe attacks quite well... another good example is Princeton's famous economic professor, Dr Nash, whose life with schizo effective disorder was explored in the movie "A Beautiful Mind", in it he becomes extremely lucid and becomes capable of identifying who was real in his life and who was a hallucination. He ends up never getting rid of the hallucinations but being lucid he is able to identify the hallucinations and live with them, and his quantity of life is quite good, he still teaches in Princeton, and apparently the same few hallucinations he has are always following him around... scary but also kind of cool...

You must be a very intelligent person because against your illness you are fully aware of the fact that those voices are not real. This is very important because it will help you to fight against this illness. All you need to do is just ignore those voices or things that you see or hear but you know it's not real. I know it's easier to say than done but I want you to try this with all your will power. Listening to you and how much you are aware of yourself, I'm sure you can do it. Just don't give up, keep fighting, ignore the freaking voices!! I wish you all the best.

The problem is this: you know it's not real but the fact that it is happening makes it a reality. Knowing that it's not real doesn't make it go away. In a way, knowing that it's not real probably makes it *more* real because you actually have to attach that value to it, actively.

+roy walton ive got the Same exact story.... My best friend went to his cousins house for a week and came back a totally different person. I knew it was Schizophrenia but it took him painting his face black with a sharpie and pointing a carved wooden stick at his sisters friend till he was diagnosed. I wish a bad day for him looked like this...Hes a paranoid schizophrenic and its honestly scary to hang out with him even though i still do occasionally but i talk to him on phone as much as i can. Sometime its just "word soup" and you cant understand a single thought. He used to be any out going ladies man with a heart of gold and now i look at him and just wonder where the friend i knew is. Its weird having your friend physically there but everything you knew as him is gone. Hes in jail at the moment, im hoping only till he goes to court. But he had a tiny bit of Pot on him and i guess his paranoia kicked in because he walked up to the cops and said " just arrest me already cause i know you guys know i have weed on me" handed the cops the weed and they threw him in county jail.... What a criminal justice system right...

I have a 7 year relationship with a schitzo guy. He reminds me of you alot. a million things always going on in his head. Sometimes at night he will wake me with his screams and grab a knife and pace around saying "someone's in here". It used to scare me, but I'm so used to it. He wont make eye contact with me when he's having hallucinations, and sometimes he will wake me up every 10 min asking if I'm crying.. I just rub his hair and blast some music. It really helps him drown out the voices. It's gotta be so loud you can feel it though. We will fall asleep to that sometimes. He does really well most of the time. It only gets bad if he forgets his Seroquil and then takes it and is waiting for it to kick in. That's a sure way to tell if we're gonna have a bad night.

gcv980 Great, just so some doctors can feed him drugs and treat him like an animal. How about no. From what she described, he's actually doing well. Schizophrenics are always going to hear voices or have a paranoia episode on occasion, so imprisoning someone in a mental asylum will only make it worse. In terms of stress and being forcibly separated from their friends, family and significant other, it will only make the delusions worse. So please, for all that's good, shut up. And OP, you're such an amazing person, I admire you!
@gcv980
@gcv980 10 жыл бұрын
ForeverRepublic You have no idea what you're saying. Sure keeping him away from drugs is only going to make the delusions worse but that's what you want isn't it?. Not everyone can deal with that kind of thing. Making delusions worse may lead the patient to make rash decisions (rash because their minds are incoherent from reality) and some end up hurting or even killing other people or themselves. I'm not saying drugs are going to cure them, I think there's a possibility of treating schizophrenics with vitamins, there is a doctor who believes that vitamin b3 etc can sometimes cure them. However, only a good doctor can offer the right treatment plan for that patient. So unless you're a psychiatrist yourself how about you do the world a favour and shut up. Because not all doctors treat patients like animals only the incompetent ones do. Btw I wasn't referring to the person who made the video I was referring to people who can't handle the voices inside their heads

Schizophrenia is a soul-sucking disease. None of us can imagine the mental prison it creates for its sufferers. I am blessed to be a caregiver in an adult group home. You have no idea. The voices take your darkest fear, and just tell it to you non stop. It doesn't stop. You ask them to, you plead you take pills, but they just keep talking. You think it begins to fade and you get used to it, but it knows you because it is you. It knows who you care about, what they care about, and finally why you care about them. It tells you they'll die, you'll die, etc.

Roxanne - What's sad is, there is a cure and big pharma spends millions of dollars silencing the cure and keeping it out of the universities where psychiatrists are trained. Big Pharma has controlled the curriculum for decades and the doctors are not trained to cure anything, but only treat it with drugs that big pharma makes billions from. If I write a book saying that I have the cure for schizophrenia, under our laws I can be thrown in prison. Kevin Trudeau was sentenced to ten years for making fraudulent claims in his book titled "the weight loss cure they don't want you to know about". I realize that you are not schizophrenic, but I'll click and paste a page explaining how I cured my brother. Take Care

Not really you'd be surprised. To put it most simply, Anxiety or 'Generalised Anxiety Disorder' is where you're triggered by being simply anxious, even if it's over something that's nothing to panic about, leading to onset symptoms of a panic attack or a full blown panic attack. Where as Panic Disorder is the same but without any trigger. You can literally be doing anything and feeling fine and the next minute you feel a couple of skipped heartbeats, faint and wake up in hospital like I have a few times, it's nasty.

As a Paranoid Schizophrenic I really feel sorry for you. However I also want to thank you for your videos. I have been trying to deal with this issue for over 30 years. I have always felt that I was a freak. I have not met any other people with this problem or at least not that I knew of. I have gotten used to the hallucinations but the depression and anxiety attacks are killers. Yes I am a smoker. My trouble got worse in the '80s when an unscrupulous doctor used me to test experimental medication for a drug company. I didn't find out until another doctor told me that some of my meds were not FDA approved and had not, in fact, passed the testing phase. Since that time I have had trust issues with doctors and medications. The only advice I can give you is DON'T self medicate, that includes weed, and make sure you have some very supportive people keeping an eye on you. Some of the voices are helpful, learn to recognize them and ignore the bad ones. When your mind is racing you could try what I do. Sit in a comfortable place, put on sound dampening headphones, play loud rain or white noise, then picture yourself going into your mind, imagine your thoughts as a train or as traffic on a hiway, and slowly try to make changes to the scene. Slow it down, change the colors or just move it into a more organised pattern. I hope this helps.

Try the meditation technique. This could really help from depression and hallucinations. Close your eyes and try to see all the muscle tensions in your body that deprive you of a comfortable state. Pay special attention to the muscles of the face and head. And then, not paying attention to these muscle tensions, you should try to achieve a comfortable state. You can get comfortable condition with a lot of muscle tension. People often do not notice this strong muscle tension and unconsciously support it. This tension may be so strong that your efforts will not be enough to remove it. But your efforts should be directed not to maintain tensions but to remove them. To do this, you only need to focus on the state of internal comfort. If you notice that the internal tension as it pulls attention to yourself, try to focus attention on this place, and then as if to get out from under this concentration of attention. This can be called the technique of scattered attention. Then this thing can happen - you concentrate on some place, you can relax the muscles, but the tension has changed the configuration and went to another place. You track tensions again and you leave from it again and it goes to another place again. So you can meditate as much as you want. If you succeed, then there is a certain pleasure in it. It is better to do it at night, but you can do it at any time. You can anywhere at least for a moment to close your eyes and instantly disconnect. In depression, do not orient on the emotional color of the feeling, but only on its strength. Well, that is the reason for depression can be anything and feelings can be different. But the feelings should be ignored as if they were not. Sorry for my English.

You can't divide voices into good and bad. The first thing you need to know is that voices can't be trusted! They lie always! They may tell the truth, but if you believe them once, they will deceive you in another. Therefore, it is always necessary to check information from other, more real sources. You don't have to identify with the voices. Voices always lie and you can't believe them. But you can to believe your normal thoughts! In this place you can have fun laughing and ask - and how to distinguish them - normal thoughts from abnormal? How can a schizophrenic do that? That's the joke! The brain can do that. Neuroleptics greatly reduce the sensitivity of the brain, but not the end. So even under strong neuroleptics, you can distinguish your normal ordinary thoughts from those you perceive as voices. If the voices are bad, you can scold them. Voices tend to primitive dialogue, multiple scrolling of the same thoughts. And you need to be able to get away from it. In any case, you can set the subject of the dialog. You can discuss with them movies, political events, remember your favorite songs. Anything to keep you interested! If the dialogue gets boring and you want to relax, switch focus of attention on the tense muscles of the face and head and try relax them, focusing on the state of internal comfort.

Sometimes it's just great to be resonantly included in a beautiful song and bring, mentally naturally, the singer's voice to the level of the ideal, being included in the atmosphere of the song and practically falling out of reality. Here is how to live a small bright scene, as an artist in the theater. I love this song kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2GVepefrMSsd6M

You would just need to bring yourself back again and again, just like pretty much anyone meditating, especially in the beginning... keep returning to the point of focus... if someone meditates for 30 minutes and brings themselves back to their breath or a mantra etc 200 times it's still helpful... it would get easier... some times harder than others but I believe meditation and other spiritual life is highly helpful for anyone provided they are interested in it... anmolmehta dot com has some good info under free online yoga classes... beginners yoga, beginning meditation and de stress could have some good info and techniques for someone interested, you can always expand and refine... the cells are constantly shedding and regenerating and there are many alternative ways to manage and treat schizophrenia etc, whether you use meds or not you can still do alternative things... there are many things a person can do, they can find them if they look a little... the cells are constantly shedding and regenerating...

You might like Orthomolecular Medicine and other natural therapies such as looking into food allergies, detoxification... cleanses like The Master Cleanser by Stanley Burroughs, Liver Gallbladder Flushes like Andreas Moritz taught... parasite cleanses, pure gum spirits of turpentine is good... also a method with black walnut hull(harvested green), wormwood(I capsule my own, it's easy and fun(for me) :p. , cloves you grind yourself regularly and put into capsules... this particular cleanse is a few weeks, it's pretty simple... you might get healing reactions though... but in the end and during at times be stronger... you might like anmolmehta dot com... look at free online classes... stress reduction, beginning meditation, beginning yoga... there is power in such exercises... read the article "what a Shaman sees in a mental hospital"... as far as orthomolecular medicine you might really benefit from flush or flush free niacin 3x a day 1,000 mgs, vitamin c 3x a day 1,000mgs or so... possibly fish oil... GABA (I take two 750mg capsules for a dose), chelated manganese might be good for you, zinc I'm pretty sure. Obviously I'm not a dr but I also don't work for the pharmaceutical industry so please consult a qualified medical person before doing anything I suggest. Keep up the good work of being your awesome self. I'm planning on learning how to do Reiki soon... I've been getting healing like that for a few years. If you like spiritual stuff that can be good. Best wishes on your life. I like my all animal moccasins, they are grounding... just like walking barefoot on the dirt or grass. Drink pure water if you can... the tap water etc, food and air etc can be so toxic, a lot of it is on purpose. Try to detoxify if you feel there's something good there. I'm not just some dipshit who doesn't know anything about schizophrenia, love you, have a nice day. Your breath is your friend... prayers and mantras if you're into it. See ya

These vulnerabilities are what help the mental health community. I am applauding your choice to share this, in your narrative while experiencing the difficult symptoms you have to manage and you're staying so controlled in this moment, you can tell you're practiced and skilled knowing your illness. It's scary to doubt our own mind. The struggle is real, but we find perseverance and are given a resilience many have no idea how to obtain in the way we do. Many thanks, you're inspiring.

Smoking weed is like playing with fire or Russian roulette for a schizophrenic or anyone with similar symptoms. Trust me I've ended up in hospital many times because of weed induced psychosis. I didn't stop using because of my fucking ego. It would not let me believe I was allergic because I wanted to be like everyone else and always trying to get higher and higher. Now I'm on 7 different types of medication and I just feel weird all the time. I'm unable to cry or laugh. Its like I'm desensitised. I got a phobia of sleeping now from it which is seriously fucked up. Find it very hard to fall asleep and stay asleep for more than 3/4 hours. During the day my head hurts and don't feel like doing anything because im so tired. I'm 4 months clean after 23 years of using and still suffering. On a bad night I get panic attacks, terror, blurred/double vision, small hallucinations like big black flies wizzing around, colours seem brighter or glowing, paranoid thoughts/delusions, feeling possessed, psychedelic visions, not being able to pee when I want to etc. It's horrifying to say the least. I'm always uneasy when bed time comes. I just wanted to talk about my own experience. I'm not trying to say the same shit will happen to you. It's your mind/sanity. I ignored my gut feeling every time I smoked weed because my pride took over and refused to admit that I am one of the people who have a high risk of weed induced psychosis. When I smoke I get severe paranoia which gives me anxiety then psychosis then panic attacks and of course insomnia. All those symptoms put together is literally a living nightmare/torture. It didn't help that I was always trying to get the strongest shit on the streets. Weed called amnesia and cheese. I'm from London by the way. I ignored myself, family, friends and psychiatrists advice because I was obsessed with weed. Maybe there is a strain for everyone just like there is many antidepressants for different people or maybe there just isn't. But because it's not legal where I am you don't know exactly what your getting. If I use again it could be the first joint or a matter of time before I get a bullet in the head and I'm back in the hospital again or maybe even worse dead. When your in psychosis it makes you very unpredictable. I find the older you get the worse the symptoms get. So for me I stay the fuck away and I turn my back on weed because these symptoms I'm getting are like a living hell. Fucking weed culture and advertising is way worse than alcohol is I reckon. Yeah you know the marijuana clothing, marijuana paraphernalia on the high streets, movies, internet and music especially rap(which I like). Its like the message is we must believe weed is a cool thing to do just like it was cool to smoke cigarettes back in my fathers youth. I know you can't overdose from weed but I'd rather be dead then be in psychosis until my last day. Fuck all that shit. Smoke in the privacy of your own home if it doesn't negatively affect you but don't go round telling the world that weed is the cure for all your problems. It's a lie. Potheads can be so ignorant and stubborn sometimes which pisses me off. Go to NA meetings etc to stay clean if your having trouble. I used to love marijuana and it's in the back of my mind still and probably forever but I must ignore it just like a schizophrenic ignores his or hers hallucinations and voices. I smell people smoking it on the streets or in parks a lot and when I'm walking on the street I see empty baggies. In the past I have found it laying around. I can't see weed in front of me because my old tendency was to smoke it all up like a fiend. I would like to think I will never touch it again. So far so good though I'm 140 days clean today. I have a sobriety app on my phone. Hopefully being sober will be my greatest high. It's hard but so is life. Good luck, be strong and do the right thing for YOU! Weed isn't for everyone and EVERYONE counts. Peace to all the potheads/junkies and sufferers. ✌🏻

I praise you for being so open about it, it can be tough to live with an you are such a strong person. thank you for sharing

You're amazing! Mental illness is just that, an illness, but no one talks about it. It takes a lot of courage to post this video, so for all of us who suffer from a mental illness, THANK YOU! I've suffered for decades (I'm 47) from severe, chronic anxiety attacks and a very deep depression. It took me years to finally seek help after I reached a point where I couldn't leave my house, because I had had a major panic attack on the subway the day before. I was just riding home, when my heart went nuts, I started sweating like crazy, and started screaming for help because I felt nothing but sheer terror, for no reason. It took years to get it under control with medication and therapy, so I know exactly how it feels. Don't be sorry for anything, it's not your fault, and yes, I'm a smoker too! I'm also a victim of colon cancer, Crohn's disease, and many others, which partially led to my mental health issues. As for demons or spirits...don't laugh people, they are real too, and do attack those who are more vulnerable....I even have proof, as I was attacked by one as a teenager screwing around with a ouija board, long story. Anyways, stay strong my friend, you truly inspire me, and many others, you've shown the world what it's like living with your disease. NEVER be afraid to talk about it, and don't you dare apologize, again, it's not your fault, it's totally beyond your control. All the best my friend, kudos to you!! 👍😊👍

stop apologizing for the things you can't help!! You may be seeing things and you may hear voices but you're human just like everyone else. You may feel like you are different and weird but to some people (e.g. me!!) you aren't. You may have schizophenia but you are doing good with your life. You are educating and helping others so for that well done :)

Hallucinations I could tolerate if they weren't morbid, if I just saw random stuff that looked real it would be frustrating but not extremely distressing. But that hand coming from the lamp shade, fuck that. Sorry to hear dude, takes strength to handle that and keep living with it. But I know it's hard to keep a train of thought, but it would be interesting if you had a video just constantly describing what you heard and saw. Very interesting.
