Bro try sparring your coach who has experienced for 15 years and giving you 75percent of his power and speed. And it's your 2nd day sparring just because u gave him a couple punches with quickness and I kinda said il get u next time in determined way. I guess he missed interpret it cause he barely speaks english. I still fought back and got him 10 or more punches but oh boy he gave me alot punches to the head. I never quit. But for sure my ego was down..but I just fliped it around to tell myself if he went hard on me like that it's because he seen that I'm not weak and had some skills for giving him them punches and him not seeing them punches and blocking. All good... now I know go soft and slow learn the basics increase speed and power over time .. and be careful what u say or always clarify it people might miss understood u. :) boxing is so much fun.

I was an amateur boxer over thirty years ago, and I recently returned to the same gym at which I'd originally trained to participate in boxing fitness classes . Speaking with the coaches, they tell me that their new policy is to NEVER have boxers spar until they've had at least three months of instruction and training. In my opinion, this is correct and valid -- otherwise, until you've mastered the fundamentals, you will absorb unnecessary punishment in sparring, including a lot of neck-snapping blows (it takes a LONG time to master the art of rolling with punches) with untold long-term health consequences. Further, the "learning" benefits of premature sparring is highly questionable. The real learning comes through the repetition of basic training exercises and drills, under the watchful eye of a qualified coach. In any event, good luck to you, and congratulations on your brave pursuit.

Here in Tijuana MX they make you spar with more people experience fighters. I been training for 2 months and spar 2-3 times a week. I always have a headache after for 2 days straight, basically the coaches here in MX make you spar and if you can’t handle punishment you whont be hable to box. A very primitive way of approaching the sport, that’s something that needs to be change in my country

@thenameofthegame40373 жыл бұрын
Hands nicely up in the beginning 👍🏻 An option is to parry the jab with your right hand an jab back at the same time. I advise beginners to look for a trainer who knows the difference between keeping your hands up and defense. Defense should be the first thing they teach you. That also the reason why people are nervous the first time because they have no idea how to defend themselves or who defense works

its cool to read these first few comments and the words of encouragement people are giving you and everything theyre saying is true. First off the fact you even decided to take on boxing which is probably one of if not the hardest training of any sport there is takes courage and deserves respect, second stepping into the ring to spar also takes courage and deserves respect not to mention it usually takes someone 1-2 years before they should spar so thats impressive man. Although I would recommend giving it a little more time til youre full on sparring, you did it and you felt the experience and you crossed that boundary so now you dont have that fear of the unknown. My advice is give it a few months until you full on spar again but theres plenty of ring work you can do with a training partner that doesnt involve full on sparring but helps you get better prepared for it while using a live opponent for example just spend a few rounds doing nothing but catching each others jabs, then another few catching jabs and slipping jabs and etc etc go on from there until youve done everything you can do with your jab. do some drills where youre not even using your hands your just trying to beat your opponent through ring control and footwork, try to use your footwork to put yourself in a good position or would create an angle against your opponent. you could even do real light sparring where youre going at 50% and just really practicing your technique and just touching up the opponent. Theres so much stuff you can do bro and you keep building up and adding more until one day all that there is left to do is finally spar all out and see what you can do. Its good you have this video to because after youve given it time and you spar again you can see the difference and how much youve improved and what else you need to work on. Good luck man, im super proud of you and have immense respect for you and also having the courage to upload it to youtube. Dont pay any attention to any negativity from anyone, 99.99% chance theyre some skinny or fat fuck being a keyboard warrior yet they have 0 experience or formal training and probably have never even been in shape in general lol. Typically those are the type of people who say negative things, and the people who are positive and encourage are the ones who do train and are experienced. Anyways buddy keep it up, I hope to see you upload more videos on your progress and who knows maybe one day you and I can get some work in together depending where youre at in the US.

We decided to spar in an aerobics room in the clubhouse where nobody was watching without headgear and let's just say my face isn't too pretty anymore. But I just kept swinging back no matter how much pain I was in and it was literally both of us just slinging at eachother for 10 seconds in the fight.

First time nerves stopped you from relaxing and moving your head, the more you spar the more you relax ..... the easier it gets and the more accomplished you become. The lad you was sparring should have taken it easier on you, watching that vid he took a few liverties but you'll soon be at a level where you can compete with him, he only threw straight punches to the head and literally nothing dowstairs. Next time you spar him throw a few at his solar plexis and don't forget to either move your head or catch the punches as they come. Takes a brave man to get inbetween those ropes sunbeam, keep up the good work

You did well for your first spar. I've boxed as an amateur for about 6 years collectively. You kept your guard up and moved laterally to avoid being an open target. Your footwork and technique will improve with practice. If I could give you one tip that was a game changer for me, it would be to shadow box for 10-15 minutes every day or second day. Practise moving laterally, forward, backward, diagonally while punching at the same time. It will improve your footwork, conditioning, balance, coordination and speed. It was a turning point for me where I stopped being a flatfooted, stationary target and found it easier to cut angles, evade punches and find targets on my opponents. Good luck and all the best.

@ejayyceo18447 жыл бұрын
Hey Ima beginner too but on those hooks make sure your back foot faces side ways and hits the ground and your front turns sideways and heel goes up and hold you arm and move your body with thumb facing your nuts kinda. Throw jabs to begin and see how they block them. If the perry then you wanna throw jab hooks. If they duck then jab uppercuts if they slip throw hooks f they throw away they are either intimidated or the are going to counter you. When near the corner throw double jab one way and make them move in the line of your right hand and throw a power punch. They will be off balance and should knock them back and they should go in the corner. When I'm the corner they can't go any where so you wanna be throwing a lot of power punches but be playing defense when they are trying to hide behind their hand Throw hooks and uppercuts for different angles. At that moment jabs won't do any good either will crosses

Sparing means nothing, even if you get beat, you still win. In my spars I never went that hard out, but trained very hard on my power and speed. My partners would go a bit too hard at times and I had decent control and would always get yelled at for going full power as my coach said I had crazy born power at 69kgs. Because of that I really shined in my fights and even had previous fighters from other gyms that I sparred comment on why I didn't spar like that. won most of my fights and hurt all of them

They would gain nothing by beating the shit out of me just because I have fought kickboxing, instead I learned a ton about this new style I am trying to learn and they were all very graceful with their instruction, no big punches or kicks thrown as there is no need for them at this stage. Because I also had no head movement I got literally destroyed because you can only block so much. he did about the same as me except he didn't attempt to throw as many punches as I did, I just got countered haha.
