My first fight was last week. Wish could have seen this earlier haha. My opponent was 115kg and more than 1 year of experience while I'm 94kg with only 7 months experience. He has longer reach and he's taller than me by quite a bit. I only got to know who my opponent is 3 days before the fight. It was a last minute change of opponent. I've been practicing against someone my own height until the change of opponent so I panicked a bit. But during the fight I calmed my nerves. I've been watching your videos on techniques and applied everything that you taught. Although my opponent had brute power and some techniques, I did the slips and weaves and countered nicely. On the 2nd round, I downed him twice for the count and went all out but failed to TKO. By the 3rd round I was gassed out and played fully defensive. Thankful that I won by majority decision. I couldn't have won this without your coaching also so I have to give gratitude to where its due. Thanks coach!

@psycho90890
@psycho90890 3 жыл бұрын
@@mg1468 usually they are not used to inside fighting. That's your best bet. Play the body shots so you get his guard down. Then land the power hooks or uppercuts. Remember to breathe even while defending. If you find yourself getting pressured when he is aggressive, don't go full defensive and shut down. Look for the counters so he can give you some space. But be careful of his uppercuts also as you're shorter than him. If he's playing his reach against you, parry his hand away and land a few shots. If you happen to be on the aggro against him and he raises his hand to defend all the way, either go for full body shots, or move one of his hands away and land that uppercut. It will catch him off guard. Goodluck on your match! Hopefully you will win! Update yea!

one thing that people forget about Tyson is how good his cardio was for his size. Cardio is super important. If you can take the shots from your opponent and make him gas out then you can unleash. He will tire up over the rounds whereas you'll just stare at him from his out of breath abyss, you can see it in their eyes

jabs and straights are a saviour and you can win a fight with just the Jab and distance management, crazy combos and pressure comes with experience and practicing and goes hand in hand with having good defensive techniques

First fight. Training went well, plenty of cardio and good sparring. I knew my opponent's style, he fought with a very high guard, so I'd worked on alternating between head and body shots, movement and setting up the uppercut to split the guard. The week of the fight and I went down with a virus and spent a couple of days in bed. The fight was on a Friday evening and until midday I was pulling out. Decided to go ahead regardless but had to change my game plan completely as I had no energy to throw anything but simple jabs/crosses. I managed to sneak the first couple of rounds just by fighting on the back foot and counter punching. My coach told me just to go out and not be hit in the third, which was fine for about 30 seconds but then the energy went completely. I remember getting backed up onto the ropes and then having to fight my way out of the corner. Scraped through without taking much punishment and got the win. Despite everything and the complete and utter exhaustion afterwards it was one of the best things that I've ever done.

I think these are generally good tips. I would add a couple of comments. I agree in most fights between beginners there is a tendency for at least one participant to try to bum-rush his/her opponent. Everyone needs to know how to overcome this tactic. I think the advice given to keep moving laterally is sound. I would add it is never wrong to use your jab. it doesn't really expose you too much and it serves to disrupt your opponent's rhythm and attack. Another good tactic is to tie them up. Again it disrupts their attack and buys you time to regroup. The good news is that an opponent who comes out guns blazing in the first minute of the fight, usually runs out of gas quickly...particularly if he/she is inexperienced. If you can manage that first onslaught, you'll probably have your way with them later in the round/fight. They are basically going all-in for a quick victory. More experienced fighters usually don't employ that tactic and use the initial round or two as a means of testing their opponent to see what their tendencies are and to discover their strengths and weaknesses.

I remember my first time sparring with a guy who had way more experience than me. He was a 2 time world champion, and he probably would have had an even better career if he was more disciplined. Before sparring I thought to myself, "if I throw one punch at a time he'll just counter me every time, but if I throw too many for him to counter then I can outwork him." It was obviously easier said than done, but I managed to be competitive with him, even though I definitely felt some buzz from his counters. But that strategy became a better, more developed strategy. "When you get hit, hit back. When you land a punch, throw another punch." I kept that strategy for all of my fights in the amateurs and I never lost. It helped that I was sparring guys with a lot more experience too, but if you can fight at a higher pace, then you can score more points. Just get your technique straight, use feints, and keep defensive responsibility.

Great stuff :)! By the way i found stationary punching ball (punching ball with a stand that u can fill up with a water/dirt) super useful for my movement!!! because in front of you, you have a round object with about 1.3 meter radious and also the ball moves itself too so u can work on your step in/out/around while also counter-punching, protecting yourself, finding different timings for different combos also once you start involving more thought process into it and start getting better you can also start thinking and working on more advanced stuff too, it will come naturally trought the correct work and patience. 1-2 hours a day for a month and you will be impressed how much more smoother you are going to feel. Also one of the most important tips from me as not a professional, the biggest boost for my movement was adding a 6km run everyday in the morning and an hour of jumping rope (some days when i would feel tired at first only jump rope or only a run). this made me feel at least 3 times faster in like 2-3 months of time. At first i even thought my legs were just perfect ( i used to play rugby for a long time this was the reason), but after actually putting in hard work you will start to notice that you are not even at your 10% of potential. :D! WORK HARDER EVERYONE!!!!

Did you guys watch Canelo vs BJS? What did you guys think? That was a nasty shot by Canelo tbh.

I’m gonna try these in sparring. Why not get into exchanges though? No countering?

@@PrecisionBoxing you are more than welcome to go on my page and criticize their rounds. Actually your critiques would be an honour. They all still novice but are coming along.

Sir, i was meaning to ask you about how i take a push step from my backfoot to land punches from a long range ? Is it the only way to throw punches from a kong range?

Coach, if u have the power and endurance why not challenge their attack with yours rather than go on the defense ? Thank you... , robert

I didn't say to "go on the defense", I said don't make it a brawl and get into exchanges. This is general advice for most people in their first fight. I think you are responding because you are thinking about your particular situation. If you know you have more power and endurance then go for it.

You are correct. My comment did not consider the title of your presentation and I was responding generally as if it was fight 25 for instance. My mistake. You certainly don't want to make it into a sloppy swinging brawl which is characteristic of a novice encounter. Stay composed and implement some defense which against another novice will tire them out quite quickly and help to prevent you from getting caught with a wild punch.
