Since sulphur donate lone pair initially to next sulphur so they have deficiency of electron. So sulphur have formal +2 charge. That's why when oxygen donate l. P they don't get negative charge. I hope you understand.

Sir -OH should be better nucleophile than that very crowded sulphur so -OH should attack as we are not talking of basicity of the lone pair in that case sulphur would have been the ans but here for nucleophilicity we must see the steric crowding also......if -OH attacks then also the product is coming same please see that I think that's wrong mechanism......

Sir thank you Sir I got a small doubt on pyro sulphurous acid that while attaching of sulphurs both have lone pairs on them and both have attached double bond "o" then while attacking of one sulphur on other as a nuclophile then don't they have repulsions as both have lone pairs on them.
