Part of me is wishing for a shorter model but then the other part of me is not because then I’d regret my newly purchased XCOVER. I dig the low profile height, slightly easier setup, and the modularity is really nice. Profile aluminum is the GOAT for customization. Cool product nonetheless. Thanks for the upload as always Mike! Pretty unique tent cover that is air gapped. Like a built in rain-fly. That'll be awesome for a bit more insulation in heat or cold!

I Camper needs to have a shell on the sky camps that allow solar panels to be mounted and option on which side of vehicle entrance can be. They may already but I am not aware.

iKamper having an option to get it unassembled is awesome! I'm sure the DIY RTT would really love if they sold the parts separately too. And that awning looks awesome! Would be awesome for those hot days out shooting. At this point, I think the Sequoia should get a full build and a wrap. Might as well at this point. 😉 Oh, and I'm sure you don't really care, but I gave the Tremor bumper to my brother. He has a similar truck to mine that is getting painted and some other modern touches. I figured it would probably go better with his truck. I'll still send some pics when it's done just in case you wanted to see what become of that ole bumper.

Super clean set up! I have a 3 year old Roofnest Falcon XL on my Gen 1 Sequoia, along with an ARB awning, but this iKamper design is so much nicer! I like how the top shell on the iKamper completely covers and encloses everything. The Roofnest has a not-so-great rubber gasket around the center portion of the clamshell which leaks while in the closed position, especially while driving in the rain...boy does it leak. No friends, I'm not sponsored by iKamper. And, yes I'm keeping my Roofnest until it wears out (it was expensive and I just gotta live with it 😩).

That's interesting. I have the Falcon 2.0 and I haven't had this problem. Maybe I haven't used it enough. I did only get it in March of this year and used it maybe 20 times. Was this an issue from the beginning?

@@bogotstogoskiing Sounds like they probably resolved the issue for the 2.0 version. When I contacted them about the problem they, oddly enough, had new and more robust seal on standby, which they promptly sent out to me (this tells me that they were already aware of this issue). Only problem is, it's impossible to install the new seal properly without completely taking the clamshell apart - top needs to come off, struts removed, tent unzipped, etc. Their solution was to tell me to cut the new seal and painfully feed it through the channel one inch at a time. I gave up once I saw what needed to be done.

Maybe some flex seal spray on the seam (they sell clear, but it yellows in the sun) or some RTV/caulk on the seam might help.

I just bit the bullet and bought this exo awning....after tax and shipping it came out to $2031.94 😵😵‍💫🤯 but you get what you pay for and it was the hard shell that sold me.

Also I would like to say thank you for pushing R4T for maxtrax recovery boards mounts and collaboration with DiamondBack covers & Front Runner for developing load bar rack system.🤙🤙 Well may be iKamper is based in South Korea, but they do a lots of things in China, like annex room, additional canopy poles, insulation tent and etc. I have a Ikamper mini on short bead of my truck and when I got it, was a label on box made in South Korea, but the rest I mean poles, insulation tent, annex which I have, was clearly labeled on tag inside carrying bags and shipping boxes made in China. What a surprise......🤣🤣🤣 Anyway, they do a great products and hopefully quality will be at top end even if they made products in China.🙂

Hey this is a bit of a weird message BUT.. I was wondering if you think visiting Colorado Springs during mid-December is too dangerous? I’m from Houston so I would be driving (2017 4x4 Tacoma). I have limited experience with snow so before I plan a trip out I want to get someone who I respect and actually lives out there opinion on it! We wouldn’t do any hardcore wheelin’ . Just ski first day, train-ride and pikes peak the 2nd, and maybe a little exploring + city the 3rd. Any feedback (or recommendations) would be appreciated man!!

I was trying to figure out how you mounted both...then realized you offset the tent. I have a prinsu on my gx470 and the skycamp2.0 and haven't been able to mount an awning.

I saw on another channel where they mounted the roof top tent so that it opens towards the front of the truck. Then the awning can wrap around the rear and there is no interference between the two. I’d be interested in your take if you try that out.

Feel like iKamper had to eventually do a wedge tent to round out their catalog. Some nice features there but not up there with the kind of innovation they displayed with the Skycamp and X-Cover. The EXO’s hard shell is a super smart idea and it’s one of those “why haven’t all companies already made something like this for years?” moments.

Yeah. Agreed. I have a Roofnest Falcon 2.0 and it definitely suits me better than this one. That being said, the iKamper Skycamp was the original RTT I wanted but my cruiser wouldn't fit in the garage with it. That was a big deal to me. Overall I don't regret my purchase.

$1700 for the awning is really tough to swallow. I just shopped a number of awnings and, as cool as the ikamper 270 is, it’s not worth double the cost over other brands just for an aluminum cover.

iKamper makes nice stuff, but I'm disappointed by their choice of latch for the tent. I had these latches on a cheaper hard shell RTT and they are not good. Every single one started to fail with the cable and even had to replace one. Hopefully they switch to something more robust.
