Nice review. I purchased the Skycamp Mini 2.0 It fits perfectly on my 2017 (2) door Jeep Wrangler. No more sleeping in a ground tent. Im up and out of the dust, and away from the critters. I absolutely love it.

They're great tents! The Mini is the ideal size, and I probably should have gone with it for the truck bed!

Just want you to know, that I subscribed for the drone shots (all the good cinematography really) but stay subscribed for your personality and great info :)

“Most importantly it looks good with the rest of the truck” delivered totally deadpan. 😂😂. Another super thorough and useful vid. The iKamper looks like a really nice tent.

Nice fair review. I prefer instant ground tents.

I've been tempted to go back to ground tents, but I like the ability to set this up anywhere - mud, concrete, rocky cliff edges, etc.!

Good video Rob, what made you finally settle on using a rooftop tent instead of a offroad camper?

I’m not a fan of taking a trailer. If I had a family I’d be all about a trailer though!

I wish these type of things would be made to fit in the bed so that way I won't need to buy a bed rack or a roof rack. Imagine like a Decked system but instead of a storage area, it's a RTT!

Nice informative video. Thanks! I do wish they made the 3.0 in white.
@RevereOverland2 жыл бұрын
I think the only people who buy white tents are the ones with white vehicles, so they don't sell many! I can see it being a major advantage in the summer though, since it would reflect a lot of the sun's energy.

My 3.0 mini comes in Monday so can't wait I am also curious about the mattress because it doesn't look comfy lol

How much time does inflating and deflating the two self-inflating mattress add to your setup and pack-down process?
@RevereOverland2 жыл бұрын
It takes a few minutes to inflate or deflate them both.

Great video. What brand/model pump do use to inflate and deflate?

So how do you like this compared to your Tuff Stuff Alpha? You seemed to have far less complaints about the Alpha when you reviewed it.

You know, I have seen dozens of YT vids with this, and the mini. You are the only one to use the side straps in that way (pulling them all at once) and funnily enough, in my engineer's eye, the way you did it, is the way it is designed to work, lol. There are some complaints on them. 🤣 And, nice rack 😉

@@RevereOverland it really does, lol. I've got my eye on the mini 3.0, but it's going to take some time to save up that dough. Everybody that has one, loves it. Something else you might consider, since the Tundra isn't afraid of snow... They have an insulation layer you can put in there. It'll probably black those windows out too. Granted, we are headed into the warm season, lol

What size bed did you get? Can this tent work fine on the short 5.5 foot with crew cab?
@RevereOverland2 жыл бұрын
I have the 5.5’ bed. I’d recommend the iKamper mini for it if you want a perfect fit. Mine hangs over the back for now, but I’ll be moving it forward when I get a bed rack high enough.

So, aside from the the mattress, windows, ladder and latches, did you like play, Mrs. Lincoln?! 😃

Lol!
@HammerRocks2 жыл бұрын
I like the iKamper but at 330mm height when packed close, it's just too tall for my use. Fitting that on top of my 80 Series Land Cruiser would eliminate access to most under cover carparks for me.
@RevereOverland2 жыл бұрын
Sounds as though you need one of the really slim clamshell tents!
@HammerRocks2 жыл бұрын
@@RevereOverland Yeah. That's what I ended up getting. I went for the Darche Ridgeback RTT. At 200mm, it's still not the slimmest hard shell RTT available. But I went for the Ridgeback as its mattress is vastly more comfortable than the three RTTs I looked at that were 160mm slim.

Oof, that’s a lot of coin plus an already pricey ($3700-4400, right?). Kinda wish they’d include it as a base option, but I guess that’s just wishful thinking! 😂

It definitely is. I'm willing to pay for something that I know I can rely on for the longer trips though - I'd hate to have something break while on the other side of the country!
