I own the 7'4" med light power moderate action rod and it is THE best rod for fishing 1.5 size square bill crankbaits. It cast these lures a MILE and it has the perfect action for keeping those fish pinned back to the boat. These rods are the real deal at a GREAT price. Well done Ike!

@@mikeiaconellifishing loved the 7'4" ML so much, that I picked up the 7'8" M for tubes in clear water. Literally can throw 1/4 to 1/2 tubes a MILE. That rod is so good for that application. It's become my go to tube rod. I like this line so much that I just picked up the 6'10" ML for drop-shot fishing. Nice work Mike. It's a great line up. I'm leaving feedback on TW too.

St. Croix used to have a list of rod models and their applications in their catalog. Made so much sense and people buy because it's so conveniently spelled out. I've been eyeing your line of rods but didn't really know where to start. I have a general idea... but appreciate a pro's insight. Thanks for the video! If Abu has any sense about them and they want to sell your line of rods, they will put a written summary online so people know what's generally best to use for specific techniques.

Nice looking rods, I really like Abu Garcia brand. "..crankbaits and jerkbaits too light to cast on baitcasting gear..." LOL, things that don't exist for 500 alex. Casting really light baits like that, can be done all day long with no problem, if you have a casting reel with a light shallow spool, and UL,L,ML, rated rods that can handle it the lure weights you use. The concept is called BFS(Bait Finesse System), and came from Japan for bass fishing over pressured public lakes, using small light weight baits. They also do a lot of trout fishing on small streams with this gear, and saltwater fishing. I have an Abu Garcia Revo ALC BF7 reel, paired with a Abu Garcia 2 pc Xross field ML 6'6" , and this combo is a joy to use! I use this setup to throw 1/8 oz shakeyheads, 1/8 oz chatterbaits, tiny spinner baits, weightless t-rigged finesse worms, and other smaller stuff sometimes. I have 8 pound braid on it. This kind of setup can replace the use of spinning reels for some people, if they like casting gear better. Anyways those medium light spinning rods look really nice. It would amazing if you could make some casting versions of those, especially the shorter one.

It's crazy how specific these guys get with their rods, it's like golf now. The control I get from graphite makes me use rods made out of it even though my favorite is a lip-less crankbait. The graphite lets me get it out there in control, I power fish with presence more than "action" so the stiffer setup doesn't bother me and makes me feel fully in control when I bring in big bois.

I've got 2 of the delay series rods and love them both. 6'6" MH squarebill rod, and the original 7'3" lipless special. Both great rods for their applications, but there are situations with treble hooked baits where I still prefer a softer M-ML graphite rod. Mainly this time of year when the water is super cold and more responsiveness is needed. Great job on the design IKE, comfortable reel seats and awesome finish for the money.

@@modzero4935 This really depends on the technique, but as a guy who has caught hundreds of bass out of a kayak I think I can help: generally, I keep my rods pretty short in a kayak. Under 7 feet in most cases, with the exception being my deep cranking rod at 7'5. I kinda see what Ike is getting at with the long rods, and those will have advantages in certain situations, but if you're new to kayak fishing you might not like them. Generally, a longer rod will have a longer butt section which will definitely get in the way when you're working baits or playing a fish. Most of those rods looked manageable, however, and I think any of those rods of 7'2 or under would work for most people. What really caught my attention was Ike's jerkbait rods. I cannot state this enough, but jerkbaiting from a kayak is 180 degrees different than in a bassboat. Your leverages are completely different since you're sitting most of the time, and you're so much closer to the water. Ike's 6'4 Delay rod looks PERFECT for jerkbaits since you will be able to work that thing all day with no fatigue, and no butt section getting in the way. Hope that helps.

You know what I like is when you invite somebody to go fishing with you on your boat and they don't show up with anything. Always have the same answer when I ask them what did you plan on using and the answer is always the same one of your fishing rods. They always say you have so many of them I didn't think you would mind letting me use one. People who don't fish like us do not understand why we have so many rods and reels on our boats. My father but always bring two fishing rods and a container of nightcrawlers. To solve the issue with people showing now with no equipment I keep something special for them. I bought a spinning rod and real and let them use that all day.

I'm about to get a Hobie Pro 14. Which rods from your lineup would you take? This will really help me narrow the rods to buy for kayak fishing.

I live in the Southeast part of the country (TN) if that helps any. Kayaks have become the poor man's bass boat these days. I've see a few companies make kayak specific rods but I feel they are less useful on a Hobie Pro since you can stand so well on it. Really want to get into tournament kayak fishing at some point.

Ike, which of these Power rods would you recommend for 1/4 Oz finesse jigs? Would the 7’2” MH work or would another rod be a better choice?
