The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Not only that, Tina was performing with cracked ribs, and ringing ears most of the time because Ike beat her all the time. To this day Tina is an incredible person who doesnt play the victim even though she truly was a victim of violence and abuse. She is happy and living in Europe with her husband.

Her hurting didn’t even show. Good thing Tina got her happy ever after in the end. It may seem like Tina ended up dirt poor after her divorce with Ike (desperately leaving everything to Ike as long as she kept the Turner to her name) but her healing and reborn from the ashes started there.

Man Tina and her backup dancers are more like athletes than entertainers.. the amount of energy they put into this song with singing and dancing is amazing. I remember seeing a show she did shortly after she left Ike. She was nearly starting over, playing smaller venues. I kind of thought she was washed up...then I saw the performance. Incredible! I was blown away. Then, after watching "What's Love..." and saw her life's story - wow! I was so pleased that she achieved so much success with "Private Dancer" and her new string of hits. She was an inspiration to so many, especially women who were dragged through hell by abusive monsters like Ike. I believe she died with peace of mind and pride. That's a pretty nice end to a great life lived.

Classic performance! The Ikette with the long hair is Claudia Lennear. She was dating Mick Jagger around this time. He wrote the song "Brown Sugar" about her. Claudia is also in the Oscar-winning documentary 20 Feet from Stardom. The Ikettes and Kings of Rhythm need their own documentary. So many talented singers and musicians started their career with the Ike and Tina Turner Revue. Jimi Hendrix was even briefly in Ike Turner's band.

Damn good! 53 years ago! Ed Sullivan should be given credit for not only booking the very best rock talent, but also raising the bar for the absolute best video quality, sound mixing, production, and sets. The camera work was amazing in this video. The way the girls come out in the foreground and all get into position with the camera following them and then getting a great view. Perfect. That performance required a hell of a lot of practice and planning by all involved. If any are still alive...a big thank you!

Beautiful short dresses and short skirts and short shorts been being made for years; and the females were wearing them beautifully. ↗Peace and respect to Tina Turner and her back-up singer's and dancers made some beautiful 🎵 music towards their gathering to do.↗👌

@@brandonavalos7514 The person is stating that they never heard the sound performed live before. So, that would include CCR. I loved CCR. But they couldn't put her type of energy into it. Sometimes a cover is better than the original. Just ask Bob Dylan about Jimi's cover of All Along the Watchtower.
