The joker actually used a Smith and wesson m76 which is a copy of the Swedish Carl Gustav model 45 on the roof so In a way you are both right and wrong. Also I believe the sound effect they used was from something like a mac 11 as it wasn't fast enough to be a vulcan

Excellent job! Curiously, while the M76 is officially a copy of the m/45, it isn't quite: there are significant internal differences including the fire control group (the M76 is full-auto only, while the m/45 is select-fire), and all the geometry is at least slightly different. It's like everything is in the same place, roughly, and works almost the same way, but it's all done differently. Looking at the bolts is especially weird. I wonder if the US even had the technical data package for the m/45, or whether it was truly a make-the-same-turns-get-somewhere-similar kinda thing.

6:42 The sub machine gun is the Carl Gustaf M/45 (Swedish K), but the one the joker was using in the dark knight is the american Smith & Wesson M76 which is based on the Swedish K, its basically a clone. During the Vietnam war the US navy SEALs weapon of chice was the Swedish K, but "neutral" Sweden wanted nothing to to with the war so they cut the supply. They needed a replacement gun and the Smith & Wesson M76 was the answer.

The SMG on top of your tank destroyer is a Swedish Model K. They were built under license in Egypt also and saw service in several countries including the U.S. during Vietnam. They are simple, well built, and fire 9x19 caliber of the MP-40, Uzi, MP5, and about a hundred others.

so the gun the joker used was a Smith & Wesson M76, which is a US "copy" of the "Kulsprutepistol m/45/ Carl Gustaf M/45/ Swedish K" because the special forces liked the Swedish machine gun for Vietnam, but yeah they needed more than what they could get from the swedes, so domestic production of a similar weapon started up. (simplified version of the history)

The SMG on top of the SAV looks like the Swedish Carl Gustaf m/45, which was used in Vietnam by US Navy SEALS, CIA operatives and adviors (as the 'Swedish-K' or 'K-Rifle'. In 1966, Smith & Wesson designed a copy from scratch called the M76, after Sweden had embargoed the export of arms to the US. The S&W M76 is seen being wielded and fired by The Joker in 'The Dark Knight', and by NYPD ESU officers in 'We Own The Night'.

Yes. The SMG is a Madsen M-50 SMG. A Danish SMG from the Cold War years. It's the same model as the gun the Heath Ledger Joker used when he faced down Batman after he tried to stop the police transfer of Harvey Dent.

What Heath Ledger's Joker used in the movie was the Smith & Wesson M76 sub-machine gun if I remember correctly! Given it's a Swedish vehicle, I'd guess the gun on top of this thing is the Swedish K, or Carl Gustaf m/45. IIRC; The Swedish K was developed late in WWII after studying other SMGs of the era, and became a favourite of the Navy Seals post war. When Sweden later refused to sell anymore to America during the Vietnam war, the SEALs put out a request for a replacement. Smith & Wesson came through with the M76. Not quite the same gun, but the Joker basically uses the American knock-off version of the Swedish K! so close enough! damn good spot for boomer-eyes, BawZ! :P

This was a postwar design- Bofors built a functional prototype, but it was considered too expensive for the army to buy into getting them. Given what OddBawZ does with this thing, it's probably a good thing for their neighbors nobody did.
