Summary: The best part of using ikea smart products with an ikea hub is having an easier setup and automation with other 3rd party apps. The best part is that you can use sensors as part of your apple HomeKit device to set triggers via that for any device whether it is Ikea or not.
Unfortunately Ikea Tradfri switches/dimmers aren't exposed in the HomeKit, however you can still link them to any ikea product in smart home app of Ikea, meaning you can only link them to Ikea devices.
Good news! Ikea sensors and shortcut buttons are showing up in HomeKit successfully, so you can use them with any HomeKit products to automate your smart home devices.
After new matter update, you will have these 3rd party bulbs exposed to apple home kit. I’ll have the matter update soon to show how these limitations can be prevented easily with upcoming video!

Anytime, glad it helped! Thanks for your feedback! No, they didn’t require to be in the same room for our setup (680sqft2 ~ 45m2). As long as they are in the range of the hub, it should work even if they are in different rooms.

Hello, I have a hue bridge and whant to install Ikea lights Could you please tell me which lights have back to initial state and would not turn on After power outage. Thx

Power-on behavior is only supported on Philips Hue lights on hue bridge. Ikea bulbs don’t have that option in the hue apps when paired on hue bridge. Power on state is only available in ikea home smart app 1 with tradfri hub. When I tested dirigera hub with home smart app 2, the option wasn’t there yet 2 weeks ago. Not sure if there is a recent update.

How can I control Dirigera out of home? I connected it to Homekit but could not control it through my iphone. Is there a way to do it?

Just one question, in old app you could configure, when the hub lost connection, once recovered it remembers the status of any bulb, so if the bulb was on or it was off, the hub remembers it. In the new one I have found it, it is possible to configure it?

@@1clickcanada thank you for answering my question!I think it’s a big mistake due to yesterday night my hub lost connection and all the lights turn on while we were sleeping,so it’s something really annoying!I hope IKEA implement it as soon as possible

Im upgrading everything in my house with google home and ikea solutions. I will try to answer when i have tested it. Would love that in my bathroom, planning on putting a sensor there. 😊

UPDATE!! Works like a charm. Everything is connected vi te hub and google speaker. So I only use google home for every light, switch, movement sensor, heating source in the house. U can also use multiple light switches or sensor for every light.
