You explained everything you did, what you used, what you bought, and what you made all under 5 minutes... Thank you so much! Fantastic video, dude! The only thing that would make it 100% perfect is maybe a reference sheet, or even just some links in the description would be great :) Either way, this is a great video thanks again!

@@BaldGuyDIY You quoted around $80 for the whole build but the one supplier I got a quote from for some plexiglass wants $80 just for the plexiglass. Where did you get yours?
@BaldGuyDIY3 жыл бұрын
@@p0ppytears just a local plastics supplier. Prices might have changed since I did that project. If you find a place that sells full sheets and then get them to cut it down it will be cheaper than a custom glass place. Good luck!

@BaldGuyDIY3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! You don’t really need an enclosure for PLA, as far as environmental control. It’s more to have a nice place to put the printer, if you put the plexiglass on it’s quieter as well.

Hi there, have you noticed any wobbliness when the printer is going full speed? Thanks
@BaldGuyDIY4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for checking out the video. I have noticed any wobbliness of the enclosure itself. Depending on if you are using it on carpet or on a hard surface, you may want to shim the legs to make it more level and stable. I use mine on laminate, and the floor is not quite level, so I use shims.

As well as any screws and plexiglass you bought to make it. Did you have to cut the plexiglass yourself?
@BaldGuyDIY4 жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching! I used 1/8" thick acrylic, and I had it cut by a local supplier to the dimensions I needed. I used 8-32 screws to attach the hinges and connect to the magnets, and I used a bit that drilled the hole and tapped the threads into the acrylic in one pass.

Hey, I was just wondering if you can still hear the printer when it’s in the enclosure? Planning on having one in the living room and really want to cut back the sound. Cheers.
@BaldGuyDIY4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. You can definitely still hear the printer, but it does make it quieter. If you enclose all the sides, and use weather stripping around the edges, it will make a big difference, but you will still be able to hear it.

Question. Is there a reason why you did not use the column blocks that are on the top table on the bottom table? It would look better.

I just didn’t need the height lift like I did for the top table. Different sized printers may need different height adjustments. If I was going to put another printer on the bottom shelf I’d need the height extensions. Thanks for watching!

@BaldGuyDIY4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. The acrylic sheet I used was 1/8" thick, and the dimensions were 17.25"W x 19.5”H. Keep in mind that your printer might not fit the enclosure without tweaking the heights of the extensions, so the dimensions of the acrylic might not be the same.

Nice video. You should fill out your information and include links for the stl, and other things users might need to do what you did. I am curious. You didn't address the heat that can build up and damage a power supply or the led. Is this not an issue?
@BaldGuyDIY4 жыл бұрын
+MiniBlaze Thanks for the feedback! I haven’t noticed any issues with heat at all. The power supply sits outside of the enclosure under the printer. The changes to the power supply I made to power the LEDs haven’t created any noticeable additional heat. I leave my printer on continuously and use it pretty regularly.

@BaldGuyDIY4 жыл бұрын
non existent great feedback, and a simple fix for that. Just scale the z axis of the model while leaving the x and y the same. If you need it 1.5 times the height of the original, just make the z scale 150%. That should solve it. Good luck!
@captainlimewire4 жыл бұрын
BaldGuyDIY thank you, it needs to raise approximately 2” but I was going to go 2 1/2” just for extra clearance. How would I be able to figure out the percentage I need to adjust it?
@BaldGuyDIY4 жыл бұрын
non existent measure the regular sized one. Then add the extra height you want to add and divide that number by the original height. So for example, if the original was 4”, and you are going to add 2 1/2”, the new total is 6.5”. 6.5/4=1.625, so scale the z by 163%, or round up slightly to 165%, and you’ll be good!
