I love how you take us on an emotional journey as well as a DIY journey. The whole "assembling IKEA furniture" montage was so spot-on. And how is it that we still experience that when it's the 5th time we're putting together that same piece? I swear all useful memories of the quirks of a particular build go out of my mind and then I'm still struggling with 1 or 2 things the next time I build THE SAME ITEM. I also love how the instructions start by shaming the single folks by saying you need 2 people - and it's a sad cartoon of one guy by himself! I always ask my dogs if they will help at that point, too. (And they usually do "help.") I love your quirkiness that shines through during all your videos, it makes them so delightful to watch. :)

Danie, you blew me away, STUNNING dresser! What a ton of work. The quarter-round full-body legs are a stroke of genius... They ground that dresser, exactly as they are; they also bring continuity by carrying the scallops onto another surface. The paint wash made my head spin. Finally, a solution to blotchy pine. I have been putting off redoing a gifted pine nightstand because I want to still see the wood grain, but haven't ever seen a way to do that without the usual uneven stain absorption of pine. Man, I'm a happy camper now! Thank you for being awesome!

Your version came out SO GOOD. I love the scallops -they lend a little unique feminine touch to an otherwise pretty masculine piece. I love that you were able to get the stain / finish so even. I am a big fan of dark wood and that doesn't even look like pine anymore. It's really nice that you can still see the wood grain. The pulls you chose are perfect and of course you had to keep the others, they are lovely too and will come in handy some day. In the end, you have a beautiful dresser that came out much cheaper than the "original." BUT, we can all see how hard you worked to plan and then make this piece. I hope you enjoy it and start out with a well-deserved nap in the nap room. I'm sure Kenobi can help with that part!

So beautiful. Love the paint wash solution. Two critiques..1-would have been nice to have a heftier top covering the half round side pieces and legs. SO glad you pieced in the4th piece of quarter round on the legs! Realize another piece of wood added to the top would add substantially to your cost. 2-this is a critique of the original….cant help feeling the scallops are upside down. To correct that design, I would maybe have added a piece of scalloped wood trim on the top drawers with the scallops facing down. But as a dupe, your solution is fantastic.

You did an awesome job and the ikea build thought process should be a viral hit. I did a light paint wash on my buffet that I bleached as the darker grain was purple. I went to take the knobs off it and they had a 3/4” mushroom stem that had been nailed into drawer front. Filled the holes with dowel and the sawdust and glue trick and they look like knots in the wood.

I think the "stain" is the best possible, love the satin finish, love the scallops, all so good. Um, you WANT critique? I suppose you could move the front edge of the top back a smidge to let the scallops show off a bit more & then extend the side edge just enough to cover the tops of the curved corners you made (genius, BTW!).
