Ikea Lauters: unboxing and assembly

Lauters perfectly matches the theme of our home.
Just like any Ikea products, this is so easy to assemble. I used an electric screwdriver but you can do away with that.

I was hoping to find out here; but I think it's to stop the post from pulling out. I was thinking I could get someone to convince me to install it, but it hinders raising the lamp's height to the max.....forcing me to decide if I should put it above or below the "table" to stop that post from abruptly sliding out of control during height adjustment. Littles might find the adjusting screw and fiddle with it causing it's shade to crash down too fast. Perhaps it's for child safety@@markevans3701
