Can't wait for you to look at the DLC osts lmaooo, but if you want a series that rivals the greatness of the Elden Ring ost, I thoroughly recommend Nier Replicant (both the og ost and the remake ost are great) and Nier Automata. Gods bound by Rules, Shadowlord, Sond of the Ancients (Fate), and Fleeting Words (Outsider) are my recommendations from Nier Replicant. From Nier Automata I recommend Bipolar Nightmare, A Beautiful Song, Desert Housing (combat ver), and Weight of the World (Japanese Ver). Granted these are both just a few samples from each track, the entire osts of both games are absolutely stunning. Please consider looking at them.

"I would say 'you guys are throwing me in at the deep end', but this is _literally the title theme._ So the *_game_* is throwing me in at the deep end!" That's unironically a perfect description of just about any FromSoft game: deep end, feet-first, figure it out on the way down.

The beautiful part is that the beginning is the end, and the end is the beginning. The title theme is the theme for the final boss. And every single time you start up the game, you are reminded. Of your goal. Why you are playing the game. Only to have it confirmed after a long road of trials...we end where we started, so we can begin again.

13:46 "Okay, so apparently halfway through every theme, we just change everything and make me nearly cry... That's cool. " When normal bosses get down to half health in a FromSoft game, the boss goes to a second phase and fights differently, and the music changes. (Bigger bosses usually go to a second phase after their whole health goes down, then a cutscene happens, and they come back for a harder phase 2)
@FlaskFlash3 ай бұрын
Well, that's not exactly how it goes. Phase 2 bosses mid fight as you know it became an standard after Dark Souls I. In Dark Souls I, no boss reaches a second phase mid fight while at half HP bar just for one exception: Manus. Manus is the modern boss in which all the modern From Soft games have cimented upon. Even in Dark Souls II, only a few bosses have a second phase at half HP. Dark Souls III and Bloodborne made this an staple finally, in which every single noticeable boss has a secnod phase when damage enough. As for this affirmation "bigger bosses usually go to a second phase after their whole health goes down" it's actually the opposite. The hardest bosses in every single instance of the Soul Series, including Bloodborne and Elden Ring, are those that doesn't have a second HP bar after a cinematic. In Dark Souls III the peaks were Midir and Gael, in Bloodborne all the bosses from the DLC but specifically the Orphan of Kos and in Elden Ring, again, all of it bosses from the DLC, but most importantly Radahn.
@Nitrinoxus3 ай бұрын
I think the reason 'Regal Ancestor Spirit' hits me so much is that it reminds me of the music from _Journey_ -- hauntingly beautiful, with lots of sweeping strings and woodwinds that lift you up and carry you along with the whirlwind of the music. ('Leyndell' does as well, if not quite to the same stunning degree.) I'm not sure if it's one you've played before, but if not, I _cannot_ recommend its OST *_highly_*_ enough._ There's a couple of tracks on the OST that tell a story using those same blends of instruments, a tale of the ancient peoples whose ruins you spend the game traversing through to reach the distant peak -- the music, along with every other aspect of the game, is centered on that journey... hence the title, y'see.
@jurtheorc81173 ай бұрын
Can also really strongly recommend the OST of the game Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, a prequel to the Zeno Clash games. For example, listen to The Boy Calls and Pseudo's Theme, the second and third track of the game's OST. Likewise, the OST tells a story, and some of them are elevated because they are tied to key moments in the game. Pseudo himself has three tracks. The first one introduces him and the almost prehistoric, tribal chanting, flute, drumming and electric guitar, befitting the monstrous martial arts hermit he is. It is not malicious, but it is powerful, intimidating and has structure. At the point where the electric guitar is introduced, it's like a new light or purpose has awoken within him. The second theme is more serious. There is less deep chanting, the voice sounds a bit... younger, i'd say. But there is more anger, the voice sings in an almost shouting manner, the flute is more prominent. Pseudo is angry and he will let you *know* it. If not by actions, then by sheer presence. The third one, Pseudo's Wrath, is preceded by To The End, a reprise of The Boy Calls that sounds like a merciless celebration of hope. I shall not describe it further, for you must hear it for yourself. Preferably in context. This is followed by Battle of Fates. Fought against an opponent personal to Pseudo. The music is slow, lumbering, regal and strict, like a king being honored by an unseen people. But once more, it is not malicious-- there is some sense of tragedy. At some point, the male chorus rumbles in like an avalanche. Not a foe, but a force. Unrelenting, undeniable, unstoppable. Yet the Battle of Fates gives space for the innocent, frail vocals first heard in The Boy Calls. The avalanche of the greater good is not without its mercy, and allows the innocence to speak for itself. THAT is when Pseudo's Wrath kicks in. The tribal instruments are now interwoven with the elements of the grand, bombastic choral parts from To The End and Battle of Fates, led by a fury and speed previously unseen in either of Pseudo's themes. Pseudo is an old creature of wisdom, of desperation, at the peak of his emotions like he has not experienced for who-knows-how-many years. For all intents and purposes he is merely a caveman against a king, an unyielding opponent for an unwilling foe. The vocals of men and women alike, wirl around him with gravitas, intensity and purpose that builds ever higher like the tempest against a temple... in a battle that ends with a final mournful note. Strongly and warmly recommend. The final three tracks i described i would sooner recommend to play the game for yourself to experience... but if you want to experience some other tracks first, have these: - Gemini's Palace - The Town - Wandering Players - Titans - Lonely Coast - Unstoppable - Hope - Moon-Sun Would love to hear your thoughts on some of them.

Notice how much more "triumphant" it is than Bloodborne? Elden Ring is From's first real power fantasy. The rest of their post-Demons' Souls games are various degrees of melancholy, bitersweet, and downright depressing, and it isn't like Elden Ring never is, but there is that sense, like you said, of punching God in the face. It's less hostile, more like you're on the same level as the old legends you're learning about.

I don’t feel any “same level” in the fights of Elden Ring, or that I’m punching a god in the face, and I never thought Dark Souls OSTs are all melancholic and bitter-sweet. When you said « in what planet was that a title theme? » that reminded me of the dark souls 3 title theme, because it was originally meant to be the theme of the final boss,, but then they massively expanded the game until what was the « final boss» ended up in the middle. So they changed its theme and just chucked the old one as the title theme, which I find just a little bit insane, but also very funny

The 2nd phases of these songs are sort of the "now you know me" of the boss fights where they're done holding back on the player and give you the real stretch of the battle. Final Battle is literally taking the fight to the envoy of whom set order to the world. The very world the player took to the tribulations to cross and conquer. The very world that responded with great hostility to the player, all while guiding the player to become the successor and decide the best for the order once proven.

Leyndell, Royal Capital always gives me the impression of something grand, something abandoned, and something sacred all at once, and that makes sense because it's literally the CAPITAL CITY of the Lands Between. It's the place where the most important decisions in the entire world of Elden Ring took place. It's where the Goddess, Queen Marika, resided, a place that has never lost to a seige (even if one came close), and the place where the Elden Ring was shattered, triggering the most devastating war to ever happen in the Lands Between. The Erdtree, the most sacred symbol in all the Lands Between, a monument you rarely EVER lose track of, was planted here. It's a place of reverence and worship, but also a place where people live, and where secrets and forgotten histories are literally buried beneath the city streets and behind locked doors. I love it, frankly. It's my favorite location in the game

I'd love if you reacted to a few tracks from the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack, specifically Phantom Liberty, its expansion. It's not a conventionally "orchestral"-sounding OST, however the composer PT Adamcyk and others on the project did incorporate some of the elements of their previous work on The Witcher 3 into it. Distorted electric cello, chanted tribal vocals, and of course (it's Cyberpunk after all) gritty, vibrant electronics ranging from hard techno beats to industrial. Some standout tracks include: Never Looking Back Gate K9 Contra La Luna I'm a Netrunner Force Projection Test of Loyalty Been Good to Know Ya You Can't Hide From Us The Rebel Path V (the main theme of the main character) and, Atlantis Obviously I don't expect you to get into all of those in one video, but if you could react to even a few of these incredible tracks, I'd love it and appreciate it. Also, I pretty much listed them in order of "significance", with the best ones that come to mind being listed first, so take that how you will. Thanks for the great videos!
@frostyfalcon15052 ай бұрын
I'll answer your question because I'm not seeing that anyone else has at this point. The music keeps stopping and shifting in the middle because that's when the boss shifts to the next phase. The player has progress through the fight far enough to get the music/phase change and until they get to that point the first part of the track will loop. The second part then loops til the end of the fight. To answer your other question, the DLC OST tops it. By a pretty wide margin in most cases.

1:43 in all fairness it's also the final bosses theme

You have to listen to the OST for Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, ANYONE who has played that game or heard the OST will back me up. Guillaume David is a genius! The OST he made for IXION is awesome too. Edit: Just wanted to add that Children of the Omnissiah and Noosphere in particular are exceptional

I 100% reccomend checking out more indie game OSTs from games like Omega Strikers and Phighting (which is on roblox somehow but it has some of the best ost songs ive ever heard no joke) To go into a little bit more detail, Omega Strikers has a ton of character themes with each theme matching a characters personality with a crazy variety (eg Juno being a funny little alien who likes ice cream and her song is very upbeat and fun) For Phighting, the game is very inspired by Splatoon with different characters and "idols" (the equivalent of Splatoons Pearl and Marina or whatever) although the majority of the themes come from the maps where the "phighting" is taking place (also there is a decent variety and i recommend songs such as: The Flipside, Sensory Overload, Title Wave, and basically any other ones becausr they are all cool)

Subscribed! I hope you do a Part 2! It was so interesting hearing your reactions and emotions to the different songs! I hope to see more!

Love your reactions girl ❤️ The reason why most of the tracks have that pause in the middle before a dramatic change is because most bosses have two phases. Introductory "hey this is hard, but I can do this!" followed by "oh deAR GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING" 😂

Just had this pop up from the youtube algorithm, and I think you've gained yourself another subscriber. Not for Elden Ring, but just the sheer excitement radiating through this video, Music composers being excited about video game music alongside analysing them has to be my new favourite form of content, especially when reacting to From's music blind/with very few details. It's been fascinating to see how you guys all manage to come to similar conclusions from the feel of the music along with applying music theory to understand what the composers wanted to show in the themes. It's been fantastically accurate every time. I look forward to seeing other videos from you!

There’s something about Leyndell that makes it a fave among a soundtrack with so many other bangers.

Hi I'm new and I've put close to 300 hours in elden ring. Amazing reactions thanks YT for the recommend! The main theme is amazing as menu music but comes into light as much much much more later on. On leyndell your guesses for the feelings and emotions of what kind of place it is accurate it's a gigantic gorgeous and empty ruin of a city and that song is just ambient music while you are there.Mogh is one of the crazier boss fights in the game and you really gotta listen to boss themes after because you need to focus on the fight as with all the special boss themes. Regal ancestor spirit is a beautiful boss fight aestheticly in a beautiful arena and area that is entirely easy to miss. Malenia is a optional boss but the strongest boss in the base game by a long shot many people hearing the song are able to recall her famous line "I am malenia blade of miquella, and I have never known defeat" which she says when she kills you the player. The final battle is as I mentioned tied to the main theme because its part of the final boss fight which is by the way challenging but also beautiful and this song is the icing on a gigantic cake, the second part is for the second phase of the fight and it's utterly haunting and comes with extremely heavy implications to what is on the line and yes the scenery the boss itself it's all 10/10. I wanna see the rest of your reactions so looking forward to that!

17:51 What's happening here is a phase switch. A lot of bosses in the game have a phase 1 and phase 2. Some of them are more broken up than others, in that some bosses don't have a visual cue for the phase switch, which is a cutscene that shows the transition, and they just start doing different attacks, but some of them like Malenia and Godfrey and Malekith have an accompanying cutscene. These are the bosses where they take a new form during the fight.

This game changed my life. I know that sounds cheesy but it genuinely did. I've dumped nearly 900 hours into Elden Ring, I've played majority of the Fromsoft titles now and am a certifiable Fromsoft fanboy, and to top it all off: the game and its genre accelerated my interest in becoming a better writer. It all started to varying degrees with the Lands Between. It's been an interesting 2 years to say the least. Edit: Elden Ring also got me a couple of extra side hobbies like learning music theory to better understand the OSTs I listen to, that studio is simply built different.

Leyndell's theme is my favorite theme in the entire game. I actually get chills everytime i pass through it and see the stillness, a rich place now shattered. We can only imagine its majesty in it prime state when the streets were full. Elden Ring is not just a game, its an emotion.

Regal Ancestor Spirit has an attack with such beautiful sound design that I thought it was part of the theme. I could best describe it as the distorted chirp of a bird underwater and the imagery of the attack is a blue glowing reanimated deer carcass leaping across the sky licked by faint spiritual embers. Absolute cinema!

You should definitely check out the score for Medal of Honor: Frontline. A hugely underrated score by Michael Giacchino before he started doing films like Up, Star Trek, Rogue One, Dawn and War for the planet of the apes, The Batman, and a bunch of Marvel movies. Some of the best tracks on it would be Operation Market Garden, Arnhem, Manor House Rally, and especially the epic Escaping Gotha.

Oh please you have to do more parts for this, because Elden Ring's soundtrack is GOATED. I recommend you also check some soundtracks from the DLC Elden ring Shadow of the erdtree, every soundtrack from it is just pure bliss.

I can't wait for part 2 hope there will be Godskin Apostles reaction in it. But to be honest, my favorite OSTs are from Dark souls 3. Even its main theme sounds like a boss fight, so it is god like to me. Found your channel because of your Bloodborne video.

Just to throw this in there the reason there’s changes in the middle of a lot of these is due to the phase change for the boss. When you’re fighting a boss and beat its first phase they usually transform or get more powerful and that’s their 2nd phase . Sometimes there’s even 3rd and 4th phases . But the music changes with the phase . That’s the changes you hear in the middle. The 2nd phase is generally more intense music wise(and boss wise) . Wait until you hear Promised Consort from the DLC. Quite possibly one of the greatest pieces of music ever written

Just found your channel and your reaction to Elden Ring's OST is awesome. Got some chuckles outta me with some of your reaction comments. It'd be really cool to see you react to the OST for the original Demon's Souls for PS3 or Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, especially the track Sugaan Essena by The Hu. Edit: regal ancestor spirit OST is absolutely beautiful, but the didgeridoo gets me every time and I can't help but laugh whenever I hear it. 😂
