Thanks for pointing out that there is supposed to be play in the limbs. I just got my first ilf bow after years of shooting longbow and I was really confused why it wasn't fitting tight, no one else mentioned that.

Glad you brought up the slight movement in the limbs, ILF is new to me and it was concerning me that it seemed loose. Thank you!

I know it’s been out a while, but I’m unable to find an official review of the pathfinder. Can we expect to see one?

I recently got back into archery and got myself some lighter limbs to build up my strength again. Looking forward to the adjuster episode as I can't really remember how to do it properly!

Some years back you talked about the win and win black wolf and you preferred the hoyt. I on the other hand was hooked on the ww. I couldn't wait to get my hands on one. Now that I have a couple I am still very much in love with them. I do use other limbs and go from light to heavy short to long and even recurve to longbow. I don't spend much time target shooting or even 3d shoots I hunt and I hunt a number of species all over north america. Coming off a compound this bow just fit me. I do have a few sets of limbs and a couple different risers are this point and I am fully hooked on the ilf platform.

Very good explanation! That's why they are called "Tiller bolts", not "Poundage bolts". Changing draw weight with these is just a side effect, not a feature.

ILFs - a godsend for modern recurve (sighted "freestyle" or unsighted "barebow"). More than good enough for rookies having passed a beginners' course all the way up to very talented archers. Like Grizzly said, it's relatively easy to build up and upgrade, for developing seniors or growing juniors. One thing to take note of is the limb height is often measured based on a 25" riser (unless specified otherwise). For example, 66" labeled limbs in a 23" (aka "short") riser will probably make a 64" bow; 66" labeled limbs in a "long" 27" riser therefore a 68" riser. The relative effective working limb length will affect the shot stability, when comparing same bow height setups. If you're not sure what you need for bow height (for both riser and limbs), or anything else, seek help from shop staff and/or a trusted coach/knowledgeable archer. Plus use the practice range to ensure you leave with the correct equipment specifically for you.

Good point, I wanted to comment that I missed this information, well everyone explains just about the fitting itself and maybe a bit about history and finetuning the connection, but I haven't seen any video guide on limb/riser selection and pairing and how to select the right limbs and what sizes for a riser, etc.

Hoyt Buffalo - Bought this bow back in the day when I got into Archery. I want to get a different poundage limb now, called Hoyt and they said "Sorry, discontinued item." I asked if there was anything in thir line that would fit it now, they said "No, sorry." Wish I would of known about ILF back when I purchased this bow, never would have purchased it.

Hello there. I just bought my first bow. It's ilf. When I install the limbs onto the riser the split part barely goes under the bolt. The ends of the split are flat with the bolt on the end of the limb. Should it go on farther then that. It's clicked in place but it doesn't seem like it goes in far enough.

I have the same question. I know there's an exact height for that tiller bolt to get the rated poundage on the limb, but how do we figure that out?

I wonder if you can put long limbs on 19" ILF riser and use limbs which extend size of bow to 66-68" ? Could there be some issues with joints between riser and limb.. Could it make riser crack or something ? I want to buy mandarin duck riser (19" Raider) (but they make only 19" biggest risers and pair them with 43" limbs...)

If I have a 66" ILF bow with a 23" riser, does that mean that all 66" ILF bows will have a 23" riser, and that I can use any ILF limb from a 66" ILF bow on my 23" ILF riser and still use the brace height recommended for my bow, or do I need to use a brace height recommended for the limbs, or is there really not much difference, and usually something around 8.25" is fine and can be tuned up or down from there?

I’m looking at getting an ilf for this hunting season but don’t know wht riser and limb length to go with …. I have a 28” draw and am trying to go with a 62 inch bow …. Do you think a 19” with medium limbs or a 17” with longs would work better ?
