5:45 - as of last month, Fomapan have just introduced Foma Cine ORTHO 400 in 16mm. So, now we have more options for shooting orthochromatic motion picture film! It's currently out of stock though and next production run of it is in December.

Ah, welcome to my world of 1963 and darkrooms created in 10 minutes...... Ortho Plus did not exist but Pan F was a great favorite of mine for grain free portraits and studio shooting. No latitude for exposure error and bracketing was the order of the day in studio shots with the Rolleicord and well used M3. For purely British egocentric reasons we never shot with Kodak in B&W. We don't talk about our choice of color film........

I shot a 120 roll with my RB67 and really liked the results. It's a little bit like FP4 but with more contrast.

Thanks for this. I’m planning a vlog using B&W film in older cameras. I’ll consider using the ortho film for a more authentic look.

Wow I bought a roll of this for fun but now I’m really excited to snap some shots of these exposures. It’ll be perfect for summer shots

If you use a light yellow filter with this stuff (to help render some sky) pay attention to the filter factor on the box. Don’t expect your camera to do the work for you. I think it’s two stops loss of sensitivity instead of the normal one like you would get with a normal film. My outdoor shots were pretty under exposed.

Thank-you! Using an orange filter with Ortho film should be interesting. I'm guessing? it will let more blue spectrum through.

From your examples and comparisons, the only difference I see are brighter skies and darker red renderings. I didn’t see that much difference in the green trees between Tri-X and the Ortho film. Maybe if you shot the same scenes with Tri-X and the Ortho films the difference would have been more apparent. Thanks for showing the film. I may give it a try!

Oh, so it's 80 ISO, interesting... I'd like to see how it comes out shot at different ISO, that could be a nice experiment to do :)

Are there any considerations when metering? A meter sees all light but if not all of it is being recorded on ortho film, I’m thinking the film might be slightly underexposed when the meter says the exposure is perfect.

Acros II is very much NOT an ortho-pan film. It has pretty consistent frequency response, and only starts dropping off at around 650nm, which is very much red. In fact, in The Naked Photographer's test of Acros II vs Tri-X, he found that Acros was significantly MORE sentitive to red than Tri-X, to the point where he recommends it as a portrait film.

I’m using a Kodak 620 Brownie Hawkeye bought in the 1950’s, and has been modified to take 120 film, at least the film spool has, take/up reel has to be 620. The Kodak has an approximate f14 lens, and a shutter that fires at about 1/30~ of a second. Back when this camera was produced, film speed was not as sensitive as it is now. Would my Hawkeye be as candidate for Orthodo film?

If it’s orthochromatic does that mean I can do away with the changing bag to get the film onto the reel and develop in my dark room using the same amber light as I use for printing?

With red light yes, amber no

Is there a website from where one can download greyscale RGB testcards for both orthochromatic and panchromatic films?
@Thorpal3 жыл бұрын
Is it the same as applying a blue or cyan filter on your lense ? Might be a cheaper alternative in the long run or if you fear 80 iso would be limitating.

What are some colour 35mm/120 films that give you a 1970s/1980s look to them?
@AnalogResurgence4 жыл бұрын
Some of the consumer level color films are essentially evolutions of films that were available in the 70's and 80's! Things like Kodak Gold, ColorPlus, and UltraMax might give you desired results. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2W0YpevmbCJers kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHivh55ohtWLf80 kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYLLfYJsbqeYjbs

Much of what you are ascribing to Ortho Plus' color sensitivity is in fact, the result of severely overdeveloping your film.
