Lauren Wisteria actually sorry to bum you out but women are much more socially programmed to perspective take than men are. I can name 15 make comedians who I can relate to if I imagine being a man, my bf can’t name a single female comedian he can relate to. It’s related to the fact that (according to research) men score lower on empathy and higher on narcissism.
@ryanmclaughlin22566 жыл бұрын
Lauren Wisteria true boo
@d4rksol1236 жыл бұрын
@@adriannejones2877 Eh? Even if (and this is a big big if) everything you said is true, did you even read what Lauren was trying to say? Or just jumped onto an opinion that you wanted to share regardless? The point was, you DO NOT need to relate to find someone or something funny. Do you need to relate to a scary movie to find it scary? Do you need to relate to an action movie sequence to find it interesting? You just wanted to spew some 'researched' 'fact' that you read somewhere because it makes you feel smart?
@adriannejones28776 жыл бұрын
d4rksol123 I read her comment and responded accordingly. Research has persistently revealed that men score lower on the empathy quotient than women and struggle more with “perspective taking” whereas women score higher and can more easily put themselves in the shoes of others, this translates across to women being able to watch the 90% of media with male protagonists or the comedy industry which is 80% male without complaint. I’m pretty sure that her comment was meant to be “for all the idiots saying I’m NOT a woman and can’t relate to this” because scrolling through comments 90% of women absolutely loved this, but there is persistent pattern of men saying “this isn’t funny, I don’t relate”. The comments section below actually supports my point about perspective taking across genders.
@adriannejones28776 жыл бұрын
Lauren I think you mean to say “for all the idiots saying “I’m NOT a woman and didn’t like it because I can’t relate”. Scrolling through the comments this makes more sense as women commenters overwhelmingly adore her, but there’s a persisten pattern of male commenters saying “she isn’t funny, I don’t get why this is funny”.

***** Comments like these seem innocent, but end up being polarizing. You would get a lot further by saying "I don't think she's funny". Your personal opinion is not an objective fact, just like my, and the fellow with the Russian-looking name's opinion aren't either. Too many times people end up having dumb discussions about something entirely subjective, and we never collectively move on, because people forget to learn that "I think...", "I believe..", "It's my opinion that..." are the qualifiers that takes the stingers off the rhetorical wasps in both offline and online discussions. We are all entitled to our opinions, but we are also all fighting to model the world of objective values, which we usually have no business doing.

And even though I can't personally relate to all her situations, I still think she is wildly funny. Shlesinger is a natural comic -- and we know she must work very hard at it but it seems effortless because she's so damned talented: brilliant delivery, impeccable comic timing. For the comment below about lack of originality -- nothing is, if you're just talking about literal content. (Though I think a lot of her content is pretty original, actually.) It's her delivery, her physicality, her vocalization -- hell, if I have to explain it to you, you'll probably never get it. Go watch a documentary about economics.
