She went on to get a licensing deal with Walt Disney and Warner Brothers and was awarded an MBE in 2009. She made a tidy profit but the 2008 recession led to her company being dissolved, the loss of her house and bankruptcy because the bank would not provide a bridging loan. Shortly afterwards, with a business partner, she reacquired the rights and remains profitably in business. Her latest commercial tie-in for a board game is with WrestleMania.

I work in accounting and I never understood the fetish the dragons have with accounting knowledge when they deal with entrepreneurs having amazing ideas and products. Anyone can train and become an accountant. Not everyone can come up with great creative ideas and develop products that will sell successfully. That is by far more difficult and admirable. Yes, you do need a basic understanding of your business model, but you do not need to know the ins and outs of net profit, gross profit, the balance sheet and financial jargon. That's what you pay your accountants to do and it doesn't cost that much in the end of the day, as the market is saturated. It's just another overhead. I don't see investors here, I see rich people with even richer egos who have repeatedly put people down and they were actually wrong in their decisions as the products turned out to be very successful.

What a horrible episode of Dragons' Den, extremely rude comments I'm shocked! Dragons don't have any class 😣😮
@locksie703 жыл бұрын
Doug Richard is so rude. Just cos she wasn't a school girl, he couldn't even talk to her with respect. Im glad she held it together and showed her class. Horrible disgusting excuse of a man. . I feel sorry for those young girls he used to abuse. Total bully

You don’t need experience to run a business you need passion and willingness to learn. So happy she did well later on disproving the “experts/dragons”

I absolutely love DD, this episode was so difficult to watch, this is nothing more than playground bullying at the highest level and if this happened today I’m sure it would not be allow for broadcasting, personally I thought Rachel Lowe was amazing at her presentation, how she answered and took the abuse, reading further into this banks let her down also, hope Rachel is doing well today, she deserves it.

I was so glad to read the comment below as I thought the Dragons were too cruel. The game looked fun and for heaven’s sake Monopoly does not have to have the monopoly! A quicker game, still helping kids to find their way round London .......plenty of scope and good on Rachel, well done and a well deserved MBE

The first edition, Destination London was Hamleys' best-selling game when it was launched in 2004, outselling Monopoly and continues to be a best seller. Since 2004, there are 24 versions of the game have been published...Silly Dragons....you missed out on this one.

*This was 2004. She sold. In fact, Destination Board Game outsold monopoly the first year it was launched. She has created 24 versions since then. Partnered with WWE, J K. Rawlings to create a Harry Potter version, and many other versions of cities in various countries made.*

Doug Richard knows she cannot answer these questions, he just wants to put her in her place. He should be in a tv commercial on how people better not socialize with each other because everybody will be stressed out and unhappy and our lives will be miserable.
